There was a band in the 70's called Rare Bird. The lead singer here sounds like that lead singer. Fabulous! With that voice I want him to sing the hard blues.
Sounds a little like Joe Cocker or even Darius Rucker. The original song was a sleeper hit for I believe artist Suzanne Vega... my feeling is late 1980's? Like 88 or 89? A most unusual song indeed, and what a unique cover I never knew existed. Thank you Silas for introducing it to me.
On a side note...one of my all-time favorite artists is Peter Gabriel, who recently put out an outstanding new album after a 20 year hiatus from releasing new music. May I suggest to you the video & song "Shock The Monkey" from the very wonderful year for music, 1982. I remember for us kids, MTV was more popular than radio back then. That's where you would hear (and see) new music for the first time. Another great song and video from 1982 was "Pressure" by Billy Joel. Thankfully, both of these artists are still with us today, and continue to bless us all with their amazing talents.
