You had me at glove and soap Na*ies! Yes! 😂. I mostly make cold process but am definitely gonna try hot process. Thank you so much for taking the time to create this video and sharing with us. Love these behind the scenes videos. ❤
"and don't forget to warsh the stank off errryday" sent me. 🤣😂 Loved this vid demo, I make HT-HP but in smaller batches. I love those volcanoes. Also, I ALWAYS wear safety goggles but because it's so hot here I'm almost always short sleeved and barefoot.🤭🤫
i have to say after all these years making hot processes when it does that eruption i get excited and i do a small batch of hot process to make soap paste and liquid soap. yes i got super excited seeing it do that. i have to say too your brother is awesome! just tilt and pull out! that makes life so much easier!
Amazing process and exactly how I started making my soap 7 years ago after watching @thegoatmilksoapstorekansas here on UA-cam. I know that’s some of the best soap ever… it’s just something about hot process soap!😍
I really enjoyed your video and watching this process. Very interesting! I watched a couple of your other videos and noticed you also make cold process soap. Do you prefer hot process for certain recipes? I’ve been wanting to try it for essential oil soaps since the fragrance is added at the end.
Greetings Mrs. Jessie I recently bought a high powered 21" stick blender from Vevor for under $200....great quality and well worth the investment. For the amount of soap you make I believe it would save you a lot of unnecessary hard work and time.
@@countrylathersoapworks I spent a little time making soap for a business. For it I bought several identical cheap stick blenders. They had enough power just not enough duty cycle. 3 stick blenders was what I needed for a 10kg batch to not burn out the motors. Cost me all of 30$ (looks like 40$ would do it now) Once the soap hits a certain viscosity a bit after trace, the effective area being stirred is pretty small, and around then a paddle becomes more efficient. For soaps that try to seize like pine tar a paddle was required since the stick blender was useless after about 20 seconds. This could also be my soap base I use castor oil (emollient) base rather than olive oil. I don't like the smell of olive oil soaps. when oven processing If you can seal your heating vessel you can save on the expensive ingredient of smell. (non metallized turkey oven bag) I never used more than about 1oz of essential oil for a 10kg batch. like 3/4 oz of mentha piperita oil, or 1oz pimenta racemosa essential oil in a 10kg batch.
I don’t have any heat source under my pot. My oils are over 200 when I add them to the pot and I mix my lye fresh. With them being super hot saponification keeps them hot.
I’m considering making soap at home and have watched quite a few videos, but I’ve never seen the mix erupt before. Can you please tell me why it did that. Thanks in advance.
This is a different method than most soapers use. It’s called the high temp hot process method. It erupts because of the oils being so hot and adding the lye solution fresh and hot.
I have only made hot process in a crockpot and Love it. I want to make bigger batches. What size pot would you recommend for a 10lb and 20 lb batch? Love your videos ❤ or what would you say the rule of thumb is for sizing your pot? Double the size of the batter? Or triple the size?
I use a 50 quart for 30 lbs and the eruption gets pretty close to the top so I would recomend a 50 quart for the 20 lbs batch. It doesn’t hurt if you have plenty of head room.
Saw you at the conference but did not get to speak to you. I have never tried this HP method myself. I also use a very steep WD for all my soaps, Enjoyed the video .
so take some hot water and dump lye into it... stir around for a time and add a couple other mystery ingredients and you got soap. Serve with a topping of yougurt... going to go try it..
Was so glad you reviewed safety procedures...too bad you didn't practice them! Your video could be teaching a newbie how to do it ... the wrong way! Chemical burns and blindness are real dangers, don't trivialize them.
@@scottcrable4966 Never trivialized chemical burns or blindness for starters even mentioned wearing eye protection so no body ends up with lye in their eye like I did. Not teaching anyone the wrong way to make soap which is why I prefaced the video with use PPE. Choices people make after that is their own.
psalms 37verse 11 the meek shall inherit the earth and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. im so glad to be able to show God i want him here instead of the suffering. and enjoy the earth God has made for us. peace, one minute we have it the next we dont. slippery that peace is to keep a hold. someday there we will lokk around and there will be an abundance of peace. hallalujah
BEST video I’ve watched yet on soap making! Unpretentious and good info! Thanks.
@@JenniferGillman-uk1wr thank you!!

Can you get one of those paddle mixers for large dough making or for epoxy mixing? Would that be easier then stick blending?
I am figuring on getting a commercial stick blender. I have a paddle attachment for a drill and it is super hard to hang onto.
@@countrylathersoapworks Ok this was fun to watch hope you can do more longer videos.

i reccomend a comercial sized stick blender.
Yeah fixing to have to upgrade
So you add the goatmilk after the cook? I’m a cold process maker but I want to switch to hot process and I can’t wrap my head around it 😆
Yes ma’am. Add after the cook.
I mix my lye outside with a mask and still have coughing fits! Lol
I don't know how you can do that without a mask. You're tougher than I am. 😅

Stainless. Can’t use aluminum in soapmaking

Greek yogurt

Hi friend:You should wear the gloves to protect yourself !
Hi friend! I make it just fine without them. I have a sink and arms length away from me where I can wash any lye off.
Why make the lye solution fresh?
So it’ll be hot
Too much work. Not for me
