I really appreciate you telling your experience with having 1,000+ eye grade. That’s so terrifying and as a 16 year old who stumbled upon this video trying to comfort myself because my eyesight is getting worse (even worse now that i am 24/7 in front of a screen due to virtual classes).
Every time I wake up, I fear that my eyesight gets more blurry and blurry. I accepted that I will really have bad eyesight for the next years and I’m terrified of it because I am so young but hopefully when I’m older, I will consider getting eye surgery for it!

@@ultrasham8023 when i was 15, my power was 800 on both eyes 💀 and no i dont think i’ll do the surgery any time soon cos im personally terrified. But if my eye sight gets worse, i think it’s best that i do lasik :( for now, i’m just gonna pray for the best that my eye grade wont increase 💀

I'm 14 atm and I got glasses at 10 y/os, I don't know if its considered high for a starting point, but my eye grade for my first glasses were 150-200. A few days ago we got our eyes checked up and my most recent eye grade was 500-750 and I honestly wanted to break down. I've long grown to accept my eye sight was gonna get worse, but it didn't really get any easier. It's terrifying to see the world decrease quality day by day and not be able to do much. But actually seeing or reading other people's perspective brightened my mood up a bit, that just because our eyes get a tad bit worse than others doesn't mean it's the end of the entire world. So thank you to all the other people who probably don't know me, but made my day! I hope you all live a wonderful life and stay safe!

hi i'm 16 y/o and we're same on 150 grade at first time having an eye glass at the age of 13. then my sight goes blurry again when i'm 14 that's why i needed a new eyeglass and the grade was 200 increased by 50. last year maybe 7 months ago my eyesight is blurry again and i kept it as a secret because we don't have enough money to bought a new one. now that i can't resist it anymore i tell them that secret because they gave me money. and i was shocked that my grade increase 175, i just hold my tears when i knew it. then finally i can see clear again but it feels diff now:((
@@jenduek1197 Yes this is one too! The guilt that comes with getting new glasses, like yes it helps us individually but its true glasses are really expensive. I've noticed for months that my eye grade probably got higher but seeing it confirmed was another guilt shock. I want a new pair of glasses to see better if I'm being honest, but just the guilt and emotion it comes is frustrating. I blame it on the teenage swirl of emotions lmao. I hope you get over the guilt soon, I took literally two years to get over mine but just stay strong!

I just got my glasses. From 450 to 650, 250 astigmatism. It isn't even the accurate glasses for my prescription, but I need adjustment so I have to use these for now. Had a breakdown because it made me sad how terrible my eyes are. Watching these videos comfort me and makes me think I'm alone and it's okay.

I went to eye clinic yesterday and found out that I already have a 1000-950 eyesight. I always have rectangular-shape eyeglasses and the Doc advised me to have a circular one this time, I haven't seen it but after watching your vid I think it would be nice compared to my previous one ☺️

i’m 14 and i’m watching this right after i just got my new glasses. my grade is 450 and 425 (nearsighted). i’m so young yet i have this high grade. it makes me think and worry what will happen to me in my 30’s-40’s. just reading all of the comments made me feel supported and validated in so many ways! thank for this video and everyone who is cheering one another in the comment section, i really love u all :)

hi! dw, I am a similar age and have a similar eye sight, dw you aren’t alone! as you get older your eyes stop growing and your eyesight will stop progressing! Plus when you are 18 you can get lasik and it’ll get better :)))

I just found your video and it is so relatable. I mean I just had my recent eye check-up and my grade is now on 775 and 700 with high astigmatism. I was so worried about how it got so high up (last year was 600). But watching your video, I could not compare my eye grade to yours and what you have been experiencing. I basically started at 125 when I was in 7th grade. Thank you for sharing your story, girl. Growing up with glasses is so hard, especially when going for a swim at the beach or pool. I would love to swim but, the tension of not wearing my glasses is so true that you will be guessing people 😅 I think people thought I could see them when in fact I just recognized them by their voice 😅I also have a family history of high eye grade and astigmatism as well. I feel like I’ve met a lot of friends on the comment section who also feel my struggle everyday. Thank you for sharing this Ms. Rika! Only legends like us can bear the weight of thick glasses and cry silently when we accidentally break it. My eye grade is -9.50 and this is the first time I’ve known someone who has a much higher eye grade prescription than mine. I always thought I’ll go blind someday. Hope our eyes won’t give up on us. I'm 15, and I just had my eye check up today, and my eyesight became a lot worse. From 300, to 500 with 100 astigmatism. And looking at these comments, I thought I had it so bad. For all those who have eye problems, I hope you'll be able to do well in your daily lives! And wearing glasses should not discourage you in being confident with yourself and always love your eyes

I'm 25, my eye power increased to -6.00 in both of my eyes, with astigmatism. I have never used lenses, I'm terrified of touching my eyes. My wedding is coming up, I literally don't want to wear my glasses.

Hi! Reminders to everyone in the comments to go to eye exams annually, glasses that are too weak will further progress nearsightedness bc your eyes are still growing and it can’t develop properly if it has blurry vision. Having clear vision will stop it from progressing any further so don’t be afraid to go to an eye exam, it will help your vision A LOT :)
Thanks for sharing! Knowing that I'm not the only one who has these experiences makes me feel somewhat valid. I got my first eyeglasses when I was in 3rd grade (550 and 500 respectively). My eyes gradually worsened and now that I'm 21, my eyes' grades are around 1100 and 1000 (left and right). In the Philippines, I'm considered legally blind. It's just kind of a bummer that there is currently no treatment for my type of myopia which affects the thickness of my retina. My doctor advised to not get hit on head as there is a high-chance of retinal detachment.
what are your thoughts about preteens (about 12-15 perhaps) having a high grade above 400? Because it’s obvious their grade will grow higher when they’re older, but they need to wait until their 20s to do LASIK because their eyes are still developing. Are the teens at risk or anything? What should these teens expect? I’ll be so glad if you reply💗
to me, i think these preteens should be fine cos i grew up as an adolescent with 500-800 eye grade and i think i’m alright as a whole haha but they should probably expect their eye grade to increase unfortunately :( but they should be alright generally besides wearing those heavy glasses 🙌🏻

@@redxhood11 i'm so sorry to hear this! i'm no eye doctor but personally i think it's alright to have your eyesight slightly unclear despite buying a new pair quite recently because your eyes are meant to adjust to your new glasses that's already manufactured at a higher power so i'd suggest not to worry so much (unless you really can't see anymore then it's time to change) Again, I am no eye doctor so don't believe me entirely :')

Practice Bates method, is really useful, but you will have results afeter some months and years. I have improved my vision. I have been practicing it around 2 years, my prescription was -600 and now I can see with glasses of -500 ^^
PD: Use glasses with -100 less than your prescription maybe not all the time at the beginning, but with the time you will see better with those glasses and you feel more rest.
I have 1000 and 950 and I envy those people with clear and healthy eyesight.

I am 25 years old with an eye grade of 850 and 750. I work as a Graphic Artist, so I probably stare at the screen all day which makes me start to worry and consider shifting to a new career, because I'm really scared that my eyesight will get worse.

Tbh eversince i had conciousness I never had perfect eyesight. I always ask my mom as a child to get me glasses and she wouldn't let me not until my teacher told my mom i cant see the board anymore and so i got glasses now. I started with 175 at 2nd/3rd grade Then 375 at 6th grade then 475 at 9th grade, im in my 12th grade and I had the same frame since 3rd grade I keep telling my mom i wanted different frames but she wouldn't let me. As for my eyesight now its definitely got worse but i can still see perfectly its just I want new frames
Everytime I get new glasses my mom would pick on me and tell lies about my grade history and my phone habits to my eye doctor and the doctor would get on it too he would be worse than my mom. But the truth is my mom already has bad eyesight + all my siblings have high eye grades too so its not all about the "phone". Thats why everytime i ask to adjust my lens I mentally prepare myself to whats about to happen lol the process is very traumatic
My right eyesight is 500 and i can at least see a little clearer than my left eye which is 1000. No lie, i really want to get rid of my glasses and i'm trying this so hard for the sakes of lowering my grades

I have a bad eyesight too lol. I have 1k+ on both eyes when I hit 15, I freaked out when I found that out, because I have 500-700 eye grade before. Made me depressed for like months or a year. And I always think that I'll be blind sooner or later, kinda scares me tho. Good to know there's someone who have a same eye grade as me HAHAHAHA
It is great, going from 20/60, to 20/20. I will never allow myself to ever enter myopia, ever again.

Here I am bein broke but still has the audacity to say imma gonna have one😂 I got really scared when my doctor informed me of retinal detachment if my eye grade goes on and reach 1000. On that moment then I realized I needed to undergo LASIK regardless of my financial capacities and all. 😂 But my heart goes for all of us here. This video is comforting knowing that I'm not the only one suffering from this blurred world. I hope one day we could finally see the world in HD without our contacs and heavy glasses.
you guys so lucky, only eyes have problem. while me i have rheaumatic heart disease year 2014 is the last maintenance, i have also hearing impaired i am using hearing aid for my left ear and my right ear ca't hear clearly at all, and also i have astigmatism 850 grades.. in short i am PERSON WITH DISABILITY. 31 years old. if i remove my hearing aid and eyeglass my world is like BLANK, completely blind. cannot hear and cannot see😔😔😔
We have the same frame and I also have 1000+ eye grade. The doctor advised me to pick a thicker frame since the lenses are thicker but I prefer more on wearing thinner frames since it goes with the style! Btw, are you planning to undergo lasik surgery sooner?
i know right! im not a fan of thick frames as well 😬 as for lasik surgery, i dont think i’ll be doing it any time soon simply because i’m scared 💀 but i think with time and assurance i might do it in the future 🥲

Lasik is not good for high grades. ICL is recommended
My eye grade is 275,250 and I'm okay with it but the problem is my parents are paying for it because I'm a student which makes me feel guilty. Getting prescription glasses are expensive.

Me too !!! I'm already born with a 1000/1000 eye vision and apparently when I got it checked it didn't change. It just stayed on 1000/1000 vision. Though I'm very insecure with my eye since I have esotropia ( I wasn't sure if this is the right term.) I don't know any methods to fix it. They said that LASIK surgery could help my vision better but it won't instantly change to 20/20, it could still help though!! People would just constantly ask about my eyeglasses because it's thick since I was a kid but I got used to them. I'm only insecure about my one eye going inward and the other one is normal :( Plus I can't do physical activities because my glasses are expensive and my eye crosses every time! And I was so happy when I got new glasses since they didn't look too thick but I'm just so insecure about my one eye that goes inward. I hope I fix it someday though :D

What are those measurements? We use + and - here. A -6 or +6 and more are considered high prescription.

Oh my god.... i hope you're doing well.. stay strong!
As a retired optician I can easily see that your quite nearsighted, as you may call it "shortsighted". Either way either way without your glasses, or contacts, you really can't see much of anything. Now I'm not exactly sure what a grade of 1000 is equal to here, but in looking at the lenses in your glasses, how much they minimize the size of your eyes and the "cut-in" on both sides of your face under your glasses, I'm sure that your glasses are at least -10.00 which may in fact be what you are referring to as grade of 1000. Unfortunately when your eyes become nearsighted at a young age and you need to start wearing glasses it's only the beginning of your eyesight deteriorating every ear from then on. Your first glasses were probably really weak and you barely needed them. Things were only very slightly blurry then. But once you were wearing your glasses all the time things soon became much more blurry without glasses. That was likely around the time you switched from wearing glasses to contacts. Your right, people that don't wear glasses or have very weak prescriptions don't understand what it's like to not be able you hardly anything without glasses. They don't understand how vulnerable you would be if someone were to take your glasses from you or they would somehow come off. You are virtually blind without your glasses. If someone were to accidently knock your glasses off and they fell on the floor the only way you be able to find them would be to on your hands and knees and feel around for them because you wouldn't be able to see to simply look for them otherwise. Besides simply loosing your glasses around your house and not being able to see to find them have you ever been out and some how without your glasses being on? I can only imagine how scared you had to be until you had your glasses back on. I'm actually not a big fan of contact wear except for playing sports and working out. Wearing contacts really aren't good for your eye health. Wearing glasses is so much better for those with much weaker prescriptions that are still able to see well enough without glasses if it ever became necessary. But for someone lie you that has a high prescription that really can't see without glasses or contacts I think contacts is the better and safer option. Especially away from home At home glasses should be wore as much as possible to give your eyes a break from the contacts. It's too bad because you look really cute wearing glasses. I especially like your round wireframe glasses on you. They really suite you very well and they allow your lovely face to be seen nearly as well as if you weren't wearing glasses.

My eye grade when I first checked them were at 500 (-5.00) so I started wearing glasses full time then. And yeah I have never left the house without my glasses nor contacts because certainly I think that would’ve been very dangerous 🥲

My real name is Jenaly and when I was 8-year-old my eye grade was -5.00 as I grow older my eye gradually increase, as of now my eye grade is -1.200 and I'm only 14-year-old. I'm no more than happy to found out someone actually has the same issue as me and I am not alone.😄

Also, may I ask where you get your contact lens? My parents believe that there's no such thing as a high-graded contact lens, and that my eyes don't have any hope for one 😢 (my eye grade is 1000 too).
so now im not the only one. right now im using contacts i also have 1000 eye grade. but my contacts giving me 20/20 vision. the reason why im using contacts is like you its heavy and nakakahilo.

Hello! Can i ask a question about eye grades? Mine is supposedly 200 and 170, but if they're increased, is there anyway to decrease them? I haven't gotten a checkup for about three years now. Back then, the doctor said i can go w/ any check ups for a year, but i'm kinda scared now about it..so will using gadgets for a lesser time decrease my eye grade??
hey! i'm no eye doctor to reassure you what works to make our eyes better (believe me when i say i'm looking for a solution as well haha!) but i grew up getting advice from others that by eating onions & reducing screen time will help protect our eyes. However then again, i am no eye doctor :')
