No, your are definitely not exaggerating!! What's wrong with people? Why didn't they just take your word for it? I understand. I have some pretty bizarre health problems and it's one thing if some people just don't get it, that's understandable, but when people doubt your own experience, and the people close to you don't at least try to understand what it's like for you, that just sucks. It's like, how can they be in your corner? I'm sorry your parents are this way. Hopefully he'll make a video about more extreme nearsightedness and your parents can watch it.
Also though, even if one's vision is perfect, some people don't have facial recognition, or don't have good facial recognition. That's an actual problem that does truly exist too. And it's not something one can help with a better attitude or something. It really exists.

I remember the first time I got glasses to correct my myopia. The eye doctor has me look out the window of the waiting room to show how much more clear the things across the street were. It was mind blowing, I thought that everyone just saw like I did😂 I was in high school at the time and realized that I couldn’t read things on the board that others could perfectly fine. I’ve become very good at guessing what things say without being able to see them clearly which is not very good lol

I didn’t have my eyes checked until I was 31, only 3-4 years ago. I did as a young child but that’s it. I have myopia as well, with astigmatism. I remember being so excited when I first got my glasses that I could see so clearly while driving, nothing was blurry like it had been. It was kind of a shock to me, because I had always assumed no one could see clearly at a distance anyway, I was acting so dramatically happy over the fact that I could read what time it was on the microwave in our kitchen, when I was on the other side of the kitchen🤣 At my recent check up, my left eye vision has progressed a bit worse, so I’m waiting on my new glasses to be ready and I think once I put those on, I’ll be excited all over again! 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

As someone with -13 myopia (probably higher now it goes up every year) this video was a bit almost emotional, lol. They can't correct my eyes all the way anymore, so even with glasses I feel like I'm constantly living at -1. People don't really understand until I tell them to put on my glasses and it gives them an instant headache. It sucks when a camera can see the world better than you can, so videos like this has always struck me as very important for making people realize how debilitating bad vision actually is... why vision isn't automatically covered under Healthcare, I'll never understand.

Hairdressers in my experience have been the best about this, though? They ask me to take my glasses off and it's like "Okay, I trust you, just realize I can see *nothing* of what you're doing while they're off" and they're cool about that and believe it. Probably because of how often they have customers who need to remove their glasses for a haircut. They're just exposed to that reality more than a lot of others.

As a person with about -2 vision, it looks pretty accurate but at the same time a little bit weird. I can't pinpoint why exactly, but I think it's due to the constant focus of the camera. Being near-sighted you can focus your vision more towards certain elements, while outlying elements become harder to acknowledge.
The blurriness is pretty much what happens though. The further away something is, the more two colours flow over into each other, so similar colours and small details are smoothed out to a mixed gradient while high contrasts flow into each other like a double image. I first got glasses when I was pretty adult, and I especially recall being able to see individual leaves on the trees as a mind-blowing experience. And it made it easier to read where the buses were heading before they were at the bus stop.

I have a little under -3.0 and one of the issues I've had walking the street without glasses it's actually the curve. Since you lose the sense of depth and distance with all being blurry.
You get to the corner to cross the street, you know there is a step to get down to the street, and staring intensely down you take a leap of faith and drop your foot. And maybe the step is just 2 cm deeper than average, and you have a micro heart attack on the way down, there is no way to know!

Last time I got my eyes checked, both of my eyes were at -11 with some change, but I’m sure my eyes have become a bit worse since. My eyesight has changed my life and I can’t imagine living life without my glasses anymore. I love to see these videos so much but would love to see another with the highest prescriptions like -10 to -14 because these are very accurate descriptions but the extremity of the higher levels is truly unmatched. No one truly understands what I mean by “I can’t see” without my glasses and it’s hard to explain how bad it truly is. Videos like these are so helpful and informative for those who do not have the same visual handicaps as myself, so I’m so happy that someone is talking about it as such. 😊

Curious to know your opinion if it was worth it? I told him, to use it some times for certain things is ok for me, I'm just tired of needing to use them everyday for everything and if I happen to misplace them, ugh 🙄, it's a pain to search for them. As someone who is -2.5 in both eyes (with astigmatism too) I never understood my friends who chose to never wear their glasses, not realizing their vision was still way better than mine haha. I also didn't like plays until I got glasses because I couldn't tell the characters apart so the story was hard to follow.
I take my glasses off on some rides at amusement parks and I always hate it, it makes me feel so vulnerable. Even just walking around, I can easily navigate and not bump into people or things, but not being able to distinguish faces or signs or details is pretty unnerving and I never really get used to it, not matter how long I have my glasses off.
What REALLY confuses me is people who are far-sighted! Moving things closer to my face in order to see it better has been an reflex since childhood, so it always baffles me when someone (like my mom) moves things farther away in order to make it clearer. That just makes it worse, how can that possibly help?! I would love to see a video on how things look from that perspective.

I am tired of being told that. Would love to see a video with short sighted vision combined with astigmatism vision. Thanks for a really great series of videos. Have a lovely day. Cheers Donna

at that point I would either run contacts for one (if the eyes aren't too dry) and glasses for the other (that include the contacts) or well, just having two pairs of glasses, one for going around and one for reading

Would be great if you also showed other conditions such as hypermetropia and amblyopia; and also common things like myopia or hypermetropia combined with astigmatism. This helps us poor-sighted people to explain our life to people with healthy eyesight.
It will also be cool if you explained that severe cases cannot be corrected to perfection with only eyeglasses or contact lenses; that severe cases can only be corrected to some extent. People often think that eyeglasses just solve it all and magically grant me eagle’s eyesight… which is not true (sadly).

Hiya! I had severe myopia (-10.5 in both eyes) before getting PRK laser surgery last year, and I was wondering if you might be able to make a small clip of what it would be like for more extreme cases beyond -3.00. I used to have my focal point be at the tip of my nose it was so bad, and I have a hard time trying to describe exactly what it was like other than things being incredibly blurry.
Btw what you've done with this vid and the stigmatism one is fantastic, and I thoroughly appreciate it. I hope more people find your channel and can get a better understanding of how some others see and how the eye works.

I didn't realize I see badly on long distance at elementary school, I thought that small text in blackboard is just barely readable, I didn't know other kids can see it clearly, I didn't realize that it's me who doesn't see clearly. First time when they told me I should have glasses was when I started going to highschool and I had to pass medical check, so they checked even my vision. I had like -0.75D and I still could walk around without glasses, only recognize person in far distance was slightly problem, I started wearing my glasses constantly when I had I think -1.25D. Now when I don't have perfect glasses, it's very annoying, even when I need add 0.25D, I want new glasses because I just want to see as good as possible. Problme is that those chains like GrandOptical are doing pretty bad job with testing your eyes and their testing glasses are not well calibrated with actual glasses you will get later, so you see differently (mostly worse) after they give you final glasses, I am very disapointed by that, 15 years ago, it was much better, when I had new glasses, it was always perfect, now, they are lazy to test your eyes properly or more distances and with more colors at background, I remember when I was kid, they tested with black text on green and red background and you was supposed to say which one is more contrasty, today they totaly skip this which is obviously wrong. I am thinking about buying testing lenses and learn how to test it by myself, because as we say in my country, if you want something to be done properly, you have to do it by yourself. I can order glasses online, which I really like, I can set parameters I need and they can even replace lenses in my frame which I send to them, it's for like 1/3 of price in those worldwide chains and their lenses are better with less chromatic aberation and distortion. They say it's zeiss in grandoptical, but it's poor quality, they must be lying or zeiss is not that good as we believe.

Pretty good representation. The quality of the bokeh is different, but aside from that spot on. I'm -6 in both eyes, and what I don't see talked about much is the super close-up vision you get when myopic. I can examine all the details of my finger print, and even make out the individual pixels on a phone screen when I have my glasses off. This somewhat makes up for the inconvenience, to the point that I don't think I'd want corrective surgery. I like to be able to take my glasses off and be in microscope mode. It's not comfortable focusing that close, and probably isn't good for my eyes, but it's nice to have the option.

Yeah, I can handle walking around my house without my glasses, but I can also walk around some parts of my house in the dark. Unfamiliar places without my glasses is just disorienting and exhausting. Part of it is the way it messes with our distance perception, makes walking without tripping or misjudging a step such as off of a curb difficult. For my own house I'm just used to experiencing the apparent distance of objects both ways so it doesn't cause much trouble, my brain just switches seamlessly between the two mental "maps" of where things are relative to what I'm seeing.
