Having long hair is a testimony of faith and patients. It shows were you are in your spiritual life.
As a woman I have faced public shame because I do not cut any hair. I DO NOT CARE!! God put my hair under my arms and on my legs, and arms and back for a reason.
I don't need to understand why, just accept and respect.
I have long hair all over, when my hair is coiled at the top of my head I feel more awareness, and focus.

Good for you. However, you must recognise, not everyone agrees with ladies having long hair under their arms on their legs etc. Many Ladies actually find it repulsive, so shave it all off.Repulsive is a strong word I know, however, I know this from first hand experience. I don't know personally, if what you say about the spiritual side of this is correct or not, as I don't believe theres any such thing as a "god". Having said all that, its your choice. If thats what you choose to do, then thats fine, and no one should ever be able to say do differently. Take care.🙏🏼

@@stephenclarke3990 just bc people are repulsed by something doesn't mean that thing is bad/negative in any way, it's just that person's conditioning that makes them think that way. Thank you! Our hair is like a cat's whiskers. Hair provides senses to us. There was an study done with people with uncut hair who were placed in the wild..... uncut hair and they had an ability to SENSE an ambush. Every time. Without fail. Then their hair was cut, once their hair was cut they were unable to sense when the ambush would be. They lost their "6th sense" when they cut their hair. This is also why the army initiates recruits by cutting their hair ... so that the recruits can be re-moulded and re-trained to the government's liking.

@@carlosmonkee Yeah, like the military is going to have sources to this...but, it's a little funny that hair is cut short and shaves are required when entering most prisons (for alleged sanitary reasons and reasons pertaining to hiding contraband). I was not able to locate studies pertaining to head hair, however a study conducted on bearded and shaven men in the hospital setting shows that shaven men were 3 times more likely to have staph and MRSA on the skin than those with beards. The biology behind this has to do with the secretions from the sebaceous glands (that release oil to the skin and hair). These secretions contain antibacterial and protective properties which facilitate growth of good bacteria and fight antigenic bacteria, thus leading me to be speculative of claims pertaining to sanitation. Therefore bringing to question why military personnel and law enforcement require "high and tight" or "clean cut" hair styles as well as shaven faces.

I just had a thought about hair, if you let it grow out it look’s disordered.
But order is coming about within as it grows, to the mind, heart etc.
There is paradox in life where nothing really changes.
    Disorder outside brings order within.
As the hair grows out , you go within.
The same can be said to be happening to a tree, as it’s roots grow deeper into darkness, almost into hell, it grows that much more into the light or into heaven.
In reality nothing really changes, the balance is already maintained.

Sikhs keep long hair as part of a natural identity. Hair is a gift from the Guru, and was established as part of the Sikh Identity and should be unshorn. Furthermore, hair, like an electromagnetic wire, when tied in a knot, allows you to focus better because it induces an electrical current on the top of your head.

I'm an Asatruar too and the reason I find this interesting is because our ancestors believed that spiritual might and main resided in the hair, which was the reason that nearly all free men had long hair and beards. It also had a secular dimension (symbolic of honor, freedom, etc) and thralls (slaves, to clarify for anyone else who may be reading this) had short hair in ancient germanic societies, while free men had long hair and long beards.

The knowing knowledge went away. But I am regrowing my hair now, and my sixth sense is returning, and I am having more vivd dreams than I ever had with buzz cuts. So in my experience I can def tell there's something to this hair is an antenna thing.

    Very good Guruka Singh....
a further interpretation of Hair (and the Radiant aka 10th Body)
    ~ The Radiant Body ~
The Radiant Body is like millions of suns that have no center but where everywhere is its center. It is you when you realize that you are the glory of God, your grandeur, your light body and in some respects what you could call your guardian angel. When we are in connection with our radiance it gives us great courage but when there is none we feel nothing can be accomplished in life. When it is strongly manifested through us we either feel everything is possible or nothing is possible.
The unity of 10 is represented as a 1 outside of a 0 and we sense its presence as a transcendent quality in our environment rather than within us. When our personal plans go wrong we often direct our anger, fear, and confusion onto this presence, blaming it for thwarting our schemes and demanding to know why. In fact, it is our greatest ally, which is trying to give us clues as to our true nature in life. However, we tend to forget to listen to it and set about our own programs.
We can tune into our radiance by listening with every hair on our body and head and by developing a sense of the interconnection between people and events, recognizing they are not so much the accidents and coincidences of life. The cosmos is a well designed, self-regulating whole with microcosmic echoes of the universal hologram. In the microcosmic sense our radiance is the unity of our individual consciousness, the total which is more than the sum of its parts. The holistic nature of the tenth dimension means that when we tune into it we are trying to get the whole picture. To face up to the full story with all its known and unknown implications takes a lot of courage and so it is in this tenth self that we find the courageous self.
In ordinary life this tendency shows itself in the way we complete whatever we do. Our leaning toward extremes is influenced by the fifth and tenth dimension, extremes of doing and not doing. In the fifth dimension these will be in the physical world whilst in the tenth we tend to take matters of principle to their ultimate limit. Such a tendency is either viewed as courageous, as in the case of certain martyrs, or it may be considered obsessive and fanatical. The wisdom to hold back before starting a task until we are sure we can finish it stems from the tenth dimension, though when taken too hr. we may never get started on anything. It can help to think of each moment as a completion in itself and where the finished product is the beginning of something new. In this way we are not limited by a static image of what ought to be, which frees us to engage totally in the movement or stillness of whatever we are doing.
The tenth dimension of being human demands that we respect the many parts which go to make up the whole and this must be understood in two ways. Firstly, that we are what we are by virtue of the interaction and balance of our various dimensions. Secondly, that we ourselves are just a part of a greater whole whose greatness depends on the quality of its parts. The forest is great because of its seeds yet no seed can claim superiority over the forest and without this recognition we are unaccomplished and we accomplish nothing. Excessive effacement through self-torture and asceticism is one extreme in our encounter with the tenth dimension of ourselves. Here the sea of life becomes a desolate desert through absolute renunciation where the seed will crack but will not grow and is reduced to dust instead. While we are still in the Physical Body we need to learn the difference between a sacrifice that produces no fruit and one that will flourish.
The tenth Body is the all-encompassing realm within which one becomes the many and the many become the one. This is a space where every direction is a mirror image of yourself and where there is no center because everywhere is identical to the center and center is everywhere. It is a space to be multiplied and amplified unto infinity whilst at the same time reduced to the tiniest speck the midst of endlessness. This is the experience of the absolutes self of the tenth dimension of being human. In this domain personal power is absolutely abandoned yet paradoxically never lost. It gains a thousand fold by surrendering all. This is the dignity of the royal self, the regal self, wherein we may be totally awake and yet totally asleep.
    Guru Gobind Singh
The tenth Guru completed the cycle. He had the courage to relinquish the power of his position while still alive. He did this in a manner that expresses well the relation between the numbers 5 and 10. He made this profound move from all to nothing by inviting five Sikhs to give their heads. After the initiation of the five Sikhs, known as the five beloved (Panj Piare), through a new form of baptism he bowed before them as their disciple (chela) and asked to receive the same baptism from them. He considered himself as the zero or nothing and the baptized community known as the Khalsa (the pure unalloyed ones), to be the one, the great unity. Remembering that the 1 is humility we can understand that the zero with the 1, as in the 10, gives an extraordinary humility. He also gave the newly baptized Sikhs the instruction to keep five items on their body at all times (Kara, a bangle, Kanga, a comb, Kachha, pair of shorts, Kirpan, a sword, and Kesh, uncut hair) and to read five prayers every morning. Amongst other things this was to aid the Sikhs in the struggle to transform the five inner passions or enemies (lust, anger, greed, pride, and attachment). Guru Gobind Singh further brought the dharma of the Sikhs to a state of self-supporting existence by appointing the scripture as the permanent Guru so that the word, which is number 5, sits in the center of the 10 - the Khalsa community.
from Shiv Charan Singh book "Let the Numbers Guide You"

@childofthetao i also had the same question in my mind...answer to this is-- no...we should cut our finger nails! we only cut the dead part of our finger nails not whole of it...and dead hair automatically falls away once we comb them...!! so dont get confused n mix cutting of hair wid cutting of finger nails. :)

Not trying to be argumentative here because I really love Sikhi, but I am just wondering if someone could explain why we cut our finger and toe nails? Couldn't we use the same rationale in not cutting them? Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this...

Just to innerstand how things work : Everybody has a stern, in the middle of your chest is a part of your heart, and that's the center of life's energy and it's called solar plexus. You charge that part of your body with energy by breathing or breathing deep exercises. When that part of your body it has no energy, you take energy with the help of your facial hair, body hair, head hair etc.If you cut it off,you gonna lose the ballance. As plants take energy with the help of the leafs (the edges of each leaf),as cats and dogs has moustaches,as fish has scales and etc,so do you.

ha wait so if a girl wants to laser shave what should she do? because she likes the experience of not having hair so according to the yogi it would be good but maybe its bad for your health maybe hair is needed for energy flow or some unknown purpose. so what would the yogi say to do?

  • @KumarTabla
    @KumarTabla 12 років тому +2

@childofthetao For the sake of hygiene. When nails are cut, we remove the dead portions of the nail. It is not only important for Sikhs to grow their hair, but to also keep clean and groom well. When we comb our hair, we take out dead hair (detached from our skin). When we wash our face, we take off dead skin. By that same principle, if one were to shave their beard or cut their hair, then it would be equivalent to taking out the entire nail. I am not Sikh, but this is my thought.

Sadly not one connection is made in regards to resonance and your connection to spirit via the DNA in your hair. It was researched long ago ( Viet Nam Era) that Native American trackers who were brought in to use their abilities during the war became "Third Eye Blind" once their hair was cut in boot camp. When it was determined their "blindness" was directly related to the loss of their hair they were then allowed to grow it back and they once again became efficient trackers. Yes you can call it "antenna" if that serves to fill your understanding.

@emonslemons u r right nails r the the part of the body, no doubt about that, but if u look closely the color of our nail is light pink but when nails grows they lose their color becs they r dead. so my friend we only cut the dead part of the nails. in case of hair r living thing they r living from roots to the end and the change in color explains that u actually need vitam and minerals to feed ur hair which u give them as shampoo & conditioner. so pls listen to ur body not the pleople

My favorite part is "you take care of your car, so take care of yourselves." Cutting my hair when I was around 12 years old was one of the worst decisions, that I've regretted the most! Everything changed in my life, I felt cold for a start lol, but it was so much more than that. Anyway to cut a long story short, I've been trying to grow it back ever since. Hairs a lot of truth! Than you for sharing. Quite funny!

Thank you for that. I stopped coloring my hair recently and am growing it out. I'm an older woman, but I am wondering how long it would get by itself before it naturally stops? I heard someone on another channel say that long hair on a woman was a sign of mental illness.....What?!
Mental illness must mean being a free thinker and not conforming to what society expects of it's slaves.

Recovering Soul This is a very wise man in dead.
Good luck with growing your hair, its a great decision to stop coloring your hair too. Those products are really bad for us, to say the least. As for how long it can grow, I would imagine infinite lol. No, I dont know, I can never get past my bra strap!
How ever my mother since she's got older her hair is longer, prettier than it ever was before. So I hope yours is the same.
As for a sign of mental illness, how does the saying go about the plank in your eye...
I once heard for a woman over 40 to have long hair was vulgar!! Absolute shit!!
Be as you wish to be. As you want to be its your life, no one else's, thats what I always say in any case. 😊😊😊

Recovering Soul I had a vision of myself years ago, that by 50 I would have long hair. I've had every length but I just knew that I had to grow it. I will be 51 this summer and it is almost to my bum. My Granny had hair to her ankles as a teen to young woman and her sisters would brush it and put it up.
My Mother coloured her hair for decades, she died of lung and brain cancer. I was so tired from looking after her that I didn't clean out a closet of hers for 4 years. A bottle of her colouring had fallen and leaked out. It ate right through the hardwood floor and part of the wood underneath. I'm getting a few grays now but I am scared of the colouring. What is in it that can eat such a large hole ?

+Lori Miller I'm almost 60, hair almost to my waist. Used to be really thick, but coloring it first time handfuls of hair fell out. I'd guess 2/3 of total volume was lost. last time I had it trimmed the stylist said I had new growth at my scalp.
Hair dye smells like cat pee amonia, it says not to get it near your eyes or mouth (husband used to dye his eyebrows and mustache lol).
I like washing at night, dry it a little. Then when still damp before sleeping I sort of twist my hair into a rope, spiral it above my head on the pillow. By morning it's dried and wavy curly. I can feel it touching my lower back and I like that feeling.
I have women telling me it's beautiful and to never cut it, I had a man come behind me and touch it just because he felt like it. Not OK!! I still have more dark roots than grey (about 4 inches grown out). I do seem to have that bride of Frankenstein thing at the temples though.
Even cosmetics have chemicals that are absorbed by skin into blood and cause premature aging. I never liked the way it felt on my skin.

A Sikh should keep hair. There is no doubt. A Sikh should not bad mouth those who cut hair. If hair is causing medical problems such as seborrheic dermatitis, traction alopecia, neck pain or head-ache, you may cut it. Gurubani doesn't promote self torture for spiritual aggrandizement. "Antar Agyaan bahar tan swaah" means if your heart is full of ego and lack of knowledge, you may rub ashes or wear 5 K's, everything is futile.

Truths always resonate with humans who listen (still able to listen) them who forget to listen to themself/there 6 sense/the ALL in all/the soul/heart/force/pice of the creator in all of us Etc Etc. follow the crowd and the power of suggestion like a pice of drift timber, so "know thyself"
“Fortunately, some are born with spiritual immune systems that sooner or later give rejection to the illusory worldview grafted upon them from birth through social conditioning. They begin sensing that something is amiss, and start looking for answers. Inner knowledge and anomalous outer experiences show them a side of reality others are oblivious to, and so begins their journey of awakening. Each step of the journey is made by following the heart instead of following the crowd and by choosing knowledge over the veils of ignorance.”
      ― Henri Bergson.
