Reasons why the bf is smiling when corrupts winning- every antagonist goes first in fnf and guess who went first....the corrupted bf and the normal bf is matching his best toe to toe and that's why he's smirking just like if you beat a hard level with a perfect you would smirk and be happy that's what the boyfriend's feeling is joy that even if it's corrupted it's still him meaning that he can beat him like the others

Okay so here’s what I think’s going on, in fnf the opponents don’t get closer to beating bf for landing a note, but bf gets closer/farther away from losing when missing/landing a note. Corrupt bf is part bf, part lemon demon, meaning that 50% of his victory relies on the opponent’s performance. A normal opponent relies on that 100%, so corrupt bf can win due to the fact he partially relies on himself, but against bf, that’s another story. bf relies on his own performance, so that part of corrupt bf that relies on the opponents performance would make him lose, due to bf performing perfectly. And that, friends, is how the Big Bang happened

The reason behind the boyfriend making the corrupted version go first is so the corrupted version to win.. why? It is because you know how when the boyfriend gets hurt (broken bones death) when he loses the corrupted version gets hurt as well so that is the reason behind the smile when he is losing cuz this is the last hit when this song ends...bam the corrupted version is now shattered into pieces. That's at least what I think
If only Phantom Fear considered this, made it a canon version and as an episode. It would make for a really good series.

From what I’ve figured out about why BF is smirking, I can conclude it’s a lose-lose to Corrupted BF, it either loses the battle by BF perfecting all their notes, or lose by failing to do their own notes... in other words Corrupted BF loses either way, either getting countered or unable to keep up and basically self-destructing
If you’re having trouble wrapping your head around it, remember: in FNF, you play as the receiver and your opponent is the sender, the receiver wins the battle if they can stand against all the notes they were sent against, and the sender wins the battle if the receiver cannot keep up with what they were just sent against... in this case Corrupted BF is the sender and BF is the receiver, and as you saw BF was able to stand against all of the notes they were sent by Corrupted BF, therefore BF wins...
