She didn't perform Breakdance. That was just part of the intro
Thank you for uploading this piece of gem. Irene passed away a few days ago. I am so sad. Most of us only knew Flashdance What A Feeling and Fame. She had so much more to offer. She showed her qualities in the Marvin Gaye medley alone. It's such a shame that somehow she never found more good songwriters and producers to write more songs for her. She truly deserved it. She lives on in her music. She is unforgettable.
Thank you, Irene, for the music and all the joy you brought.
R.I.P. Irene Cara Escalera
The industry had warned of lawsuits if they did anything for her...in other words, she had been canceled for some reason, that's why we hadn't heard from her but, before her career was railroaded, she was a superstar at the top of her game!
I agree... I remember her in Electric Company children series years ago (in the 70s on PBS) far from before Fame, Flashdance, D.C. Cab, Certain Fury, Roots: The Next Generation, & etc. You see, she was already famous before Hollywood really noticed her for real. But, she will always be part of my/our generation because we will forever remember her name. 😥🙏🏾🎤✌🏾
Of course, we going to remember your name! Viviràs para siempre RIP beautiful 😇 angel Irene Cara!!
Irene Cara always had a special pure quality which is far removed from the music industry today. She was a talented songwriter in her own right & it’s tragic she was I guess blackballed from the industry.
I remember her from her Electric Company days & really fell in love with her voice in the “original” movie Sparkle! Not only a talented singer but just as talented of an actress…It’s so sad to hear she lived the last years a recluse.
Rest in heaven Irene Cara you spirit will Sparkle ✨ always ❤
Since she passed away I don’t stop to hear her music, definitely she’s a 💎
This is why UA-cam is so valuable. We NEVER get to see concerts like these!! EVER!!! Think of how many concerts you have taken for granted on UA-cam. It's really mindboggling. I only got to see Irene Cara at halftime shows for some sports show or some telethon. I never got to see her show live. Hell, as a kid, I didn't even know she did shows like these. ❤🔥
And so many rare live concerts gets deleted every day for copyright reasons. For example hundreds of Prince live videos shortly after his estate started to enforce the "no media appearances" rule again.
@@Minsetti I've seen commercials of Irene that I never knew existed. It's amazing how much flies by over the years and we simply just miss out. I guess you just have to see it when you can.
You are absolutely right. I've been using UA-cam since 2006 and this tool become one of the most important global iniciative ever created. Everyone can do your best sharing everything, no matter who are you in the space and time.
There isn't just UA-cam. Sites like Rumble and Odysee are ramping up as well and aren't as censorship heavy.
Shes a Vocalist, Dancer, Pianist, Songwriter, and Actress❤
Irene Cara was the Original “FAME” Soloist, Actress, Dancer, Performer. Her Show was Spectacular!!!!!: From Start to Finish. She was through-rally Entertaining. I Absolutely Loved her ICONIC SHOW. I could watch It Again and Again!. Bravo 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍
Good lord she's amazing live... Beats any one of the computerized voices hitting the airwaves today. I miss these days...
RiP
To what computerized voices are you referring? Because from what I've heard thus far, Chloe & Hallie, H.E.R., Esperanza Spaulding, Arianna Grande (of whom am I not a fan), Beyoncé, Tannerélle, Janelle Monae, Miley Cyrus, Lauryn Hill, T Pain, D'Angelo, Bruno Mars, Anderson Paak are all really great singers, whethere you like their music or not. What the h@ll are you taking about?
Yes indeed. She has a special voice, a talent not seen much these days. Someone who sounds that amazing live does have proper talent.
I was there back in the early 80's when Fame and Flashdance came out and yes, I miss those days too. The 80's were the best !
@@skineyemin4276 It's called auto tune and corrects the pitch of singers. Every artist you mentioned uses it, so it's helpful to do something called research before you publicly make yourself look foolish in the future. Stupid is a terrible look for anyone...

Omg what a great live performance..that husky soaring voice, i saw her performance in Manila, she's always giving it all - live. This video has superb audio. Hope there are DVDs of this ❤️🌟❤️ Irene underated superstar!
I bet they couldn't get enough of her in Japan.
Those of us as teenagers in 70ts and in the 80ts was blessed to have she to bring joy and happiness to us
R.I.P. to a very talented singer and songwriter, she will be missed in this world :(
Beautiful, natural singer but for some reason she was passed over after her initial success. What a Feeling is one of my favorite songs from the Eighties!
RIP 💐
She conveyed too much innocence and JOY. The music industry had gone very dark, as we have all seen.

and Why me
Thank you so much for sharing what I consider a true treat in every sense of the word. As a longtime fan of the late, great Irene Cara's artistry, I'm enjoying this vintage concert coverage very much and am appreciative of you sharing this beautiful piece of her legacy. Watching the juxtaposition of the beauty and majesty of Tokyo's urban infrastructure/natural landmarks with Ms. Cara's energetic and feel-good performances, I feel that it takes away some of the sting of the sad news of her passing. Coincidentally, it makes me feel, too, that she really hasn't left this physical realm, knowing that she will live on in her massive body of musical magic. RIP Ms. Irene Cara and thank you again for your God-given talents.
Beautiful words...took away some of my sadness 💝
😢😢😢 Rest in peace my idol 💐🤍
Well said!! It's definitely bittersweet though, knowing that while American artists tour overseas all of the time to give those fans an opportunity to see and hear them live Irene was in a situation at that time where she literally had no choice in the matter. And she poured all of herself into that show because they deserved no less than her best. Irene Cara is in my mind the definition and the epitome of unsung, it makes me smile seeing the outpouring of love, appreciation and respect that she is receiving and I pray that Irene's family and loved ones are uplifted by these words. Irene, you truly will live forever because we will always remember your name!!! Rest in Heavenly Peace Songbird ❤️❤️❤️
@@darrjon67 I agree with you wholeheartedly! Every word of it:) Seeing these comments, it feels really good, too, to know that Ms. Cara's contributions to our own lives aren't forgotten because of the lasting impact her music has on our minds, spirits, and ways of life. I hope with you, too, that Ms. Cara's family and publicist read these as well and know how much her presence and music meant to us. Rest in Passion, Ms. Irene Cara...and thank you:) 🎼🌟
She is simply amazing, such artistry and command of her vocals. Remembering Ms Irene Cara, RIP. ❤️❤️❤️ My favorite song is Out Here on my Own. Loved her in Sparkle, she will be missed. Original music 🎵🎶 and live performances. "I am Rhythm". "Take your Passion and Make it Happen ✅✅✅.
Her Vocals were amazing on stage. very shameful that she wasn't properly appreciated.
One of my first concerts as a young child - my father didn’t want to take me but I made him. He was walking around and just left me to be amazed. I will truly hold her memory and music in my mind forever. RIP Irene Cara.
What city and venue was the concert?
what a blessing to see this concert live
Irene Cara is PURE GENIUS!
RAWWW BRONX Talent RIP!!!
Thank You Irene, for your kind, loving Voice and your beautiful Smile.🎈"Dear Lord may She RIP" ❤
It would be awesome if this concert could be restored and remastered for us as fans of this beautiful and gifted performer. Part of me still can't believe that she's no longer with us, but I won't be sad. I'm going to celebrate her life and the wonderful work that she left for us to treasure. Sleep well Songbird ❤️❤️❤️
How come we dont really appreciate singers/entertainers until they passed???? Out Here On My Own was her signature song for me. Her vocal range was incredible!!! The first time I saw her was on The Electric Company. The same show Morgan Freeman and Rita Morgan got their start.
You are right that they were all on the Electric company but Rita Moreno was around much before that show. One of her most famous roles was in 1961 in West Side Story....All amazing.
R.I.P. The late great Irene Cara. Such an inspiration to so many, especially to me. Her beauty and talent is awe-inspiring in this video. Rest in peace Dear Angel!. Sunday November 27, 2022.
This girl is so beautiful and talented
I believe that Bronx New York should really consider honoring naming a street after her where she grew up ❤️👏✍🏽
Truly!
Irene is never going to be 4-got-10. She was very beautiful and talented and kind hearted ❤ and her love 😍 for nature was incredible. Sincerely 💃 Minister Donna C Eckhardt 🌹 Founder of Effectual Fervent Prayer Ministry. JESUS IS our only GUAARANTEE to eternal life.
What a great voice!! Fame, Flashdance etc..
Wonderful wonderful concert I mean Tara in Tokyo Japan in 1985. Very energetic as I've always known her to be as an artist, and I'm so very glad I had the opportunity of watching this particular concert. Irene Cara such a beautiful artist, you will never ever be forgotten in your name will always be remembered. Many thanks for all the hard work and the beautiful legacy that you left behind for future generations. AHORA QUE NO ESTÁ ENTRE NOSOTROS VIVIRÁ POR SIEMPRE EN NUESTROS CORAZONES. QEPD. 🇵🇪
Excellent show by a very talented singer. Bravo!!!
I really feel like this should have been called "This is Irene". Avoids the contraction and makes it sound more intimate.
Never saw her live so this was a great concert for me right now, and I recommend this too all my friends and family and business buddies too. Music lives at times like this.
Thank you! Love Irene's voice.
Anyone here after her passing? RIH Irene, "Out here on my Own" my favorite ! An angel.
I'm hurt. Irene you told us you were going to live forever.
@@gpowellish1Just like Michael Jackson her lover. My heart is totally broken. I love em both. Hope they've reunited now.
She had more feeling and emotion in her interpretations than any other, and best ; she didn’t have to scream to show her vocal reach . 👏👏👏👏👏
Crowds were outstanding for this magic lady, her voice is magic...
Non autotune just perfect vocals.A wonderful person a wonderful performer a wonderful singer.
I hope the South Bronx New York City name a street after Irene Cara.

Fantastic concert
Always loved Irene…RIP songbird
Glad I grew up around this era. When talented musicians could actually sing without aid. That's how I learned as a singer! I've even sung to and with the Fame cast in Italy. RIP Irene Cara! ❤
Look at her. Commanding the stage as the STAR she is and always will be! Mèsi anpil for posting this gem for us to enjoy. The ending is💔when she says "how about that. hope you enjoyed the show. See you soon." Wow. We definitely REMEMBER YOUR NAME. MS. IRENE CARA 🌹🌹
Our wonderful amazing Irene. Irene was best friends with Luther Vandross and although she was an incredibly unique talent you can hear a little bit of the great influence that Luther had on her voice. Luther was the one who came up with the repeat, remember, remember, remember on Fame. Irene, youre gonna live forever❤
RIP Queen!!!❤. Love Always “What a Feeling.”
A class act, she will be sorely missed!

There are so little live videos of Irene, compared to other female artists, but this one just makes the statement. There is no diva that comes even close to her talent or her performing range. The light just radiates...
Rip Irene, você deixou em nossos corações uma lembrança viva que jamais se extinguirá, dá-lhe jesus o descanso eterno.
thanks Irene for the wonderful, colorful and joyous concert you performed in tokyo, japan.
Irene - gorgeous at every stage of life. RIP beautiful lady, thank you for sharing your light and joy with the world. 🌟
Irene Cara Genia !!!!! Diosa !!!
OMG HER SONGS REALLY AWESOME BEST OF THE BEST LOVE HER SONGS
I’m very impressed with her powerful voice
In 1985, I spotted her in the Japanese bullet train. Then, her manager (?) signalled me, putting her index finger on the lips. Left the place, nodding. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only one. Later found her surrounded by some my colleagues. Fair enough. She was already a star. We were moving somewhere for training as freshmen in the company.
Irene was super talented and so beautiful to match.
Great concert! Irene Cara was the REAL deal! Great performance. Rest in Peace, Irene Cara!💜

Outstanding!!!
God bless you, Irene Cara. You shall be missed. Forever preserved in this footage.
Her unique voice lives. She is still alive in the melody she left.
I forgot about that song " Anyone Can See". Its a great song, Irene does it beautifully. It seems like people forgot about Irene and how talented she is.
I remember that song; it's one of my favorites too. I remember "Anyone Can See" back in 1982 a very long time ago (40 years ago). Am I telling my age? However, it seems like yesterday for a moment that last forever but gone in a instant. RIP Irene Cara.
🎤😥🙏🏾✌🏾
Many many years ago, while taking acting classes in NYC, I used to run into Irene in the lobby. This was right before she did Fame and hit it big. She used to encourage me to move to NYC and do the acting thing full time, but it wasn't possible, and I really preferred Los Angeles over NYC. The first time I remember seeing her was on the children’s TV show The Electric Company, and we had some laughs about that. She was wonderful and even though I never saw her again in person, she always remained in my heart. I remember sitting at Carney's in Los Angeles on Sunset Blvd and seeing the big billboard promoting Fame and was SO happy that this talented lady had made her mark in Hollywood. Also, when she opened the Academy Awards, I was blown away and SO proud of her.
Were you interested in doing Broadway back then? Why did you prefer LA over NY?
IRENE CARA, LO MEJOR EN MUSICA DE LOS 70 Y 80....Q.D.D.G.

"Out Here On My Own"! I haven't heard this song in years---I was once obsessed w/this song and Irene. Beautiful woman & voice!
I sang this to the cast of Fame at an after show party in Italy. They inspired me in the 80's to chase after my dream! I now am followed by several of them on Twitter. RIP Irene Cara!♥
