Allison Janney won an Oscar for this performance and honestly.. She totally deserved it, such a complex and horrible character. I believed her every second she was on screen.
@@Hayley-Stellapraising Allison Janney (100% justified) seems the right moment to suggest reacting to The West Wing ! I known it's a freacking long show but pls hear me out : - it's simply one of the best TV shows ever produced. Aaron Sorkin's incredible fast paced witty and smart writting, brilliant acting Martin Sheen, Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, Rob Lowe, John Spencer, and of course Allison Janney ! As for the directing, photography and editing they just invented the "single take walk 'n talk" so many 90's movies and TV show later copied. - it's right in your alley, the show is smart, knowledgeable and instructive, very grounded and realistic yet 100% fictional. - many reactors out there yet none has already reacted to it. The West Wing was a phenomenon of it's time and still hold a very special place in many fans hearts even decades later ! I rest my case
My mom was a huge Nancy Kerrigan fan, she wanted to be an ice skater so bad and a leg injury ended her career in high school. This event WRECKED my mom. Tonya was a VILLIAN. Don't think she ever saw her anything other than the destroyer of her dreams, because the woman she was vicariously living through was destroyed, and her career in competitive skating was put in danger of ending too. It was crazy how young I was but how vividly I remember.
If we're being completely honest, the injury Nancy experienced was SOOOO overblown. It was anything but career ending. I'm not saying it didn't sideline her for a while and maybe prevented her from winning gold that year (doubtful as the actual gold medalist was clearly on another level). Harding was honestly the best US skater during those years but never got a fair chance until it was too late and then after the attack she would never be the same herself psychologically.
I feel like they had to make the movie with a kind of wry and wacky POV, because if they had played it straight, it would have been too emotionally brutal to sit through. During the time of the Olympics, the investigation was still ongoing, so most of the events shown here were unknown to us, and Tonya was the figure who bore the brunt of public scrutiny. And not only was the part with the laces true, the real event was actually MORE dramatic than the movie showed. Tonya took the ice and started her routine...and then stopped it about a minute in, signaled to cut the music, and skated over to the judges' panel to show them her broken lace with tears in her eyes. (The ABC commentators explained that a skater is allowed to halt a routine due to equipment failure without forfeiting.) The judges allowed her to repair the lace and re-start her routine from the beginning, which she did about 5 minutes later. Her score for the full routine was mediocre, and that is what got her the 8th place finish. Nancy Kerrigan ended up winning the Silver medal, having been beaten to the Gold by the young Ukrainian Oksana Baiul, who charmed audiences and became the sweetheart of the Olympics. (Ms Baiul has a difficult story of her own, I hope she is doing well these days.)
I'm so happy you guys decided to pick up the torch and start this new spinoff channel. You're gonna be successfull there's no doubt in my mind. Can't wait for the 100k subs FAQ special vid' ! LFG !!!
I just discovered WNR a few days ago and am so happy that you two decided to keep going. This is the first time I've ever watched a movie just so that I could watch a reaction to it, but I couldn't miss your first one over here!
So glad to see you two still doing reactions. And congratulations on your wonderful choice of this movie to start with: I haven't seen anyone else do this movie and it's such an outstanding one, with great performances and a wonderful script. Please keep it up!
Congrats on the new channel, Hayley and Stella! This was such a grim movie, and so hard to watch. I wish the film had emphasized that Nancy Kerrigan came from a very similar background -- she was not wealthy at all, very lower-middle-class financially, and her mother was disabled (blind). She and Tonya were actually good friends for a few years, not just the brief interlude shown here. Nancy got a pretty severe backlash for not being the "pretty swan princess" she was presented as being, but to be fair, that was never who she was. She was another kid from tough beginnings and could sometimes mouth off. Meanwhile, there was also supposedly a lot more hard evidence against Tonya as far as her involvement and awareness of the plot. But the film really got to me as someone who grew up poor -- Tonya's abuse from multiple sides meant she had almost no chance, so it's great to know she is finally happy and stable out there in her life.
So happy I found you two lovely ladies through white noise and y’all continued on your reaction journey and gifted us this channel!! Can’t wait to see how far y’all go (and if you’re ever looking for another editor in the future i’m your girl 😉)
The guy who plays Shawn also plays 'Stingray' in Cobra Kai (which is excellent, BTW). That character is also an overgrown manchild fantasist. I don't want to cast aspersions on the real person, but hoo boy is he good at playing jerks.
When I was around 8 years old figure skating was barely on my radar except for Snoopy skating in the Peanuts Christmas special. Then I saw Katerina Witt do an exhibition routine to Michael Jackson's Bad and for the next 20-25 years I was a ice skating superfan. I had VHS tapes of my favorite Scott Hamilton routines, every Olympic event, and a lot of World Champion events if my favorite people were competing. I would go on tirades at the drop of a hat about how Gary Beacom or Surya Bonaly got ripped off once again for "not fitting in." It was at the height of my fandom when the Tonya/Nancy stuff went down and I still have VHS tapes of some of these performances, even though I have nothing that plays VHS any more. It was such a bizarre series of events that everybody I knew was suddenly interested in figure skating. I remember thinking, "This must be how hipsters feel when some obscure thing they like suddenly becomes popular." The '90s were an interesting time. --Back then a triple axel was the hardest jump anybody did. The way you spot an axel it's the only jump you start facing forward, meaning you have to do an extra half turn in the air. The other jumps start with skating backwards. --A lot of us had our suspicions about the judging in figure skating being a sh!tshow, with certain skaters like Surya Bonaly doing solid programs yet getting scored lower than seemed right. Then in the early 2000's when Sale and Peltier got ripped off, it came out that some judges weren't just prejudiced, they were actually secretly communicating with each other and fixing matches.
I came over from White Noise. I'm glad you guys started a channel! Good movie to react to! This movie is filled with great actors. Margot Robbie, Allison Janney, Sebastian Stan, Mckenna Grace. Also has some great music that fits the scenes perfectly.
Thank you ladies for continuing on! I just adore you both! This movie is so good and Margot and Allison Janney and Sebastian Stan just killed it in this movie!
Congrats on the first reaction!! Allison Janney in this one reminds me of Laurie Metcalf in Lady Bird which is crazy the films went against each other before Janney took best supporting actress
Thank you UA-cam for the recommend. But I’m joining the Patreon for the full experience. I’ve missed Hayley and Stella so much! Thank you for carrying on the torch you two!
Great first reaction vid Hayley and Stella! I'm already enjoying your new channel! 😃 This movie totally had me reacting "Oh my god" during crazy moments such as everyone being very violent. It was a sad and depressing movie I agree. However it did have some good moments in it.
I grew up in Oregon and actually skated at 27:54 Clackamas Town Center mall where Connie Chung is broadcasting from. Since it was the early 90's, one of my first girlfriends looked exactly like Tonya. And everything looked just like the movie. So it's all a bit bizarre (but there was no violence, thank goodness.)
Great reaction you guys! I saw this movie in the theaters and I loved it. I was in college when the Kerrigan attack happened. I remember what a spectacle they made of Tonya’s life. Her name is forever tarnished and linked with “cheat to win.” Keep up the great work!
Giiiirls, going in STRONG with this one on your new channel! I hope you'll grow a lot, watch a lot of awesome movies and I wish for you to have a great time. Sending hugs and lots of encouragement! ❤
This movie was perfectly cast. I remember when all of this happened, and all of these huge personalities were all over the news and throughout popular culture.
Thank you for reacting to "I, Tonya"! I didn't know anything about this story, but what was really eye-opening were the hidden costs of being any professional athlete such as fees to enter competitions, fees for the coaches, the costs of pro-level equipment or costumes. The movie really showed how a lot of the best known athletes and performers in the world only beat out the competitors who had the money to compete.
this is such an amazing movie. everyone was just fantastic in it. also i'm so glad you two will continue movie reactions. seeing y'all pop up over there was always such a treat. so glad you'll be continuing on.

The night of the Olympics when Tonya and Nancy skated I was working in my college faculty dining club job and the chefs brought in TV's to watch the drama. Lol. Apparently it was the top 10 TV non Super Bowl broadcast of all time!
McKenna Grace is so brilliant! If you haven't seen her movie "Gifted" with Chris Evans it's really good. Though i did have to pause it to calm down at one point because i was crying so much 🤣
What a rough movie 😭😭 I wouldn't have watched it without you though, girls ☺ So glad we have the oportunity to continue watching your reactions, thank you !! 🥰✨
I've never seen the movie but i got anxiety from just watching the reaction 😂. I remember when it happened and suddenly and suddenly Nancy and Tanya were as popular as the president. I didn't watch the final videos from the other channel but i was very happy when i found this video suggested to me. Congrats on the new channel and I'm looking forward to more to come. From now on I'm calling it "descrimption"
Love to see you girls reacting!! As always, love your perspectives when watching films. Would LOVE to see your reaction/opinions on "La sociedad de la nieve" ("Society of the snow").
I'm so glad you two decided to continue your channel. Regarding "I, Tonya" , In real life it does have a happy ending (not in the film) . Her proudest moment is no longer her " triple axel" but being a good mother to her child. I would like to suggest a film for you two to review it is titled "Dialogues With Mad Women" it's a documentary by Alli White, I think you'll enjoy it.
Harding also completed a few stints on reality television. She appeared on Dancing with the Stars and Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition. These days, she focuses on her family and says that she has been working as a custodian. She also skates for fun.
I remember this happening in real time, it was crazy! And, in the end, neither American woman won, it went to Oksana (although Nancy's skate was beautiful!) My mom HATED Tonya, she was always spewing out what the media was saying. I honestly felt sorry for Tonya, with the skate lace thing. It did seem to me, even then, that she was set up to fail. I'm so happy you guys are continuing your reactions, can't wait to see more!
I haven't seen this film, but since White Noise closed I just had to comment: I am so happy two of you continue! I hope Nobu / Nine Tails will be occasionally guest staring your videos!
kicking off your channel with a banger indie flick is fantastic. the two of you are gunna choose some great flicks and add (once again) your distinctive opinions and perspectives, and thats why im here. im curious and absolutely invested in what types of films you choose to explore as you launch your channel.
Fantastic effort, team! Having lived through the Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding drama, it's intriguing to witness how historical events can be condensed into a tragicomic narrative on a broader spectrum. Yes, in "I, Tonya," the incident involving the broken shoelace during the 1994 Winter Olympics was a real occurrence. Tonya Harding experienced issues with her skate during her free skate performance at the Olympics. A shoelace on her skate broke, affecting her ability to perform the jumps she had planned. This incident added to the challenges Harding faced during that competition. The film portrays this event as part of the larger narrative of the difficulties and controversies surrounding Tonya Harding's figure skating career.
Your channel popped up on my feed literally earlier today so its cool to get onboard with a new reaction channel so soon, specially with a film i havent seen a reaction to yet (although i have seen the film and Margot is awesome). Good luck with the channel 😀
I was in grade 4 when this event happened. It was a pretty big deal, and we all watched it on the tv and talked about it in school. I loved the format of this movie, and everyone in it killed it!
Per your conversation at the end about performer parents, would highly recommend The Iron Claw from last year starring Zac Efron. Incredibly powerful and insane true story about the Von Erich family in wrestling. Definitely bring tissues for that cause it’s a heavy dramatic film but all the performances, especially Efron, are excellent.
Really like this movie, for all its despicable characters, and loved your reaction(s) as always. Tbh, Stella and Hayley, your reactions were always my favorites on White Noise, kind of how I first got into that channel. So I'm very happy to see you two continuing to do this here, your reactions have always been incredibly thoughtful and genuine. Looking forward to continue to follow you two on your journey. Congrats on the new channel :) --- Jon
Always cracks me up when she is skating to ZZ Top's Sleeping Bag! Thought they just added that for the movie but I guess Tonya actually skated to that song at the 1992 US Nationals.
I hope you watched the credit scenes, they show the actual people the actors portray, and it’s amazing how spot on they are. And the “counterintelligence expert” is just as weird and clueless as in the film.
I don't know which one of you edits the videos or you just hire someone but if you edit yourself, I just want to say an extra thank you for keeping the channel going and putting in so much time and effort for us to enjoy.
MOVIE SUGGESTIONS: 1) The original 1982 Arnold Swarzenegger film "Conan the Barbarian." 2) The French-Made (but it has an English-dubbed version) 2001 dark colonial-France period action/mystery film "Brotherood of the Wolf." Specifically the English-dubbed extended director's cut of it. NOTE: Monica Belucci portrays the darkest and most broody (yes, I meant broody, that was not a misspell of the word 'bloody') yet the most sensual and classy character in the film. Just her char alone only adds to the thick & heavy gothic/onimous tension of the whole movie. 3) Both of the first two original Corocdile Dundee films 4) The VERY dark and gloomy scifi/mystery/action 1998 film "Dark City." Again, the extended director's cut
Terrific 1st choice ladies! The real standout is Allison Janney in this but everyone was great in it. I remember when the actual incident happened and it was utterly insane to be hearing what was going on and the daily details that were being released. Congrats on the channel, subbed when I first heard it was happening. Good luck!
Great choice for the first drop on the new channel. I realize subscriber engagment is important but don't stop following your instincts when it comes to selecting films to watch. It's just as interesting to see what you guys decide to spent your time looking at as the reaction itself. Follow your bliss.
I’m glad you two are sticking around!
Me too ❤

14:00 Comentators would know which moves came where in a skaters program because they researched the skaters rehearsals and previous performances.
Love Stella's facial expressions. Lovely face.
First actual reaction post and they've already got over 7,000 subscribers. Oh, yeah. The Force is strong with these two.😉
Just so you're aware, Nimona has been released on UA-cam, in full, by Netflix very recently, and it's up for awards soon. I hope it helps out!
Your channel popped up on my feed literally earlier today so its cool to get onboard with a new reaction channel so soon, specially with a film i havent seen a reaction to yet (although i have seen the film and Margot is awesome). Good luck with the channel 😀
So glad you guys came out with your own channel! It's gonna do great. I know it 😊
It's great to see you both and nice reaction as always. Excited to see y'alls journey on this channel.
Awesome Reaction ! Great girls !
I'm really glad you guys decided to continue with reaction videos.
I was in grade 4 when this event happened. It was a pretty big deal, and we all watched it on the tv and talked about it in school. I loved the format of this movie, and everyone in it killed it!
Holding out for last conetto movie the world's end! My favorite of the 3 ^^
Already filmed:) keep an eye out for the upload!
Yesssss this is def in my shortlist of favorite movies!!
Great choice to start with.
The guy who played the Hard copy reporter was a composite character.
Great movie, great cast and great soundtrack!
So happy with this channel!
MOVIE SUGGESTIONS:
1) The original 1982 Arnold Swarzenegger film "Conan the Barbarian."
2) The French-Made (but it has an English-dubbed version) 2001 dark colonial-France period action/mystery film "Brotherood of the Wolf." Specifically the English-dubbed extended director's cut of it. NOTE: Monica Belucci portrays the darkest and most broody (yes, I meant broody, that was not a misspell of the word 'bloody') yet the most sensual and classy character in the film. Just her char alone only adds to the thick & heavy gothic/onimous tension of the whole movie.
3) Both of the first two original Corocdile Dundee films
4) The VERY dark and gloomy scifi/mystery/action 1998 film "Dark City." Again, the extended director's cut
Great movie. Remember back when this happened lol crazy. Glad to see y'all
Yay! Glad to see you two again! Liked & subbed!
For some reason, YT didn't tell me about your first video. So now you're the ONLY channel I set for notifications. So there. :)
hey girls, good to see you back and doing what we love you for
Terrific 1st choice ladies! The real standout is Allison Janney in this but everyone was great in it. I remember when the actual incident happened and it was utterly insane to be hearing what was going on and the daily details that were being released. Congrats on the channel, subbed when I first heard it was happening. Good luck!
Girls! If you haven't already you should totally watch Society of the Snow! It's a great film!!
Great choice for the first drop on the new channel. I realize subscriber engagment is important but don't stop following your instincts when it comes to selecting films to watch. It's just as interesting to see what you guys decide to spent your time looking at as the reaction itself. Follow your bliss.
Already a react vid out, wow! Way to keep the ball rolling!
Id love to see you react to Colossal and Ingrid Goes West
Perfect time to watch you both
