@SuicidalSportsMovie Canon recommends charging the included battery before using the camera the first time. This first charge may take several hours - approximately 2-4. Subsequent charging may complete in less time.
@climbthatmountain The VIXIA HF G10 will be easier use for video than a DSLR. The form factor is much more appropriate, you can record for as long as the media holds out and you only have to buy one or two wide or tight supplementary lenses to cover the full lens range. To do the same with a 60D, you would have to pay the full cost of several complete lenses.
I bought mine a year ago, It blew away the quality of my older vixias. The low light capability and the quality of the video is excellent, and controls in the camera like a dedicated switch to go from auto focus to manual focus and dedicating the rear dial for exposure control really help.
@rickbrown03 There has been no word yet on them updating the HFG10 that I have heard. As for lightning port that won't really come into play. The camera transfers footage via a card reader or through USB from the camera.
@2migell The HD CMOS Pro uses fewer pixels, which are significantly larger (61%)* and more sensitive, resulting in optimized video performance over the standard HD CMOS sensors used in other cameras.
The camera you purchased is designed to work on broadcast systems that employ PAL which is not used in North America and Japan. The camera captures natively at:1920 x 1080i / 25 fps and 1920 x 1080p. No other rates are available. The USA (NTSC) version captures natively at 1920 x 1080i / 60 fps and 1920 x 1080p / 24 fps. FINALLY, they started to put native resolution sensors in low price cameras. It will not have 1.7x intelligent zoom any more but it will be better in other aspects.
@missartist123 Unless you are able to go for a prosumer HD camera for a much better low light quality the HFG10 is one of the best in the consumer range for video quality and low light ability.
Yes it is compatible with this caveat: Camcorders that use CMOS image sensors often use a technology called a "rolling shutter." This exposes different parts of the frame at different times until the entire frame is fully exposed. Videos that show signs of distortion due to your camcorder's rolling shutter may not be suitable for use with video stabilization. @F1NNAZ it depends on what you are recording, for film, the 7D, if you are doing home movies, this camera. for instance my latest short (on my channel) was filmed with the 60D and the HF21 (both canon) so thats a good comparison i guess. if you need depth of field go for the 7D
Correct, Tony. The Canon HF G10 will not use IR. The Canon XF 105 ( B&H # CAXF105) features an Infrared Mode allowing users to capture video in conditions with little to no ambient light. Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh{at}bandh{dot}com. MarkS
Really spinning trying to find what's needed for my uses. I can only imagine that this vixia will be easier to use for filming than a dslr. Need a camera for uploading content, from interviews to vlogs for a website. Is this the direction to go? It's about the same price as a 60D with lense...any help is greatly appreciated.
What kind of HD camera would you recommend an artist wanting to get good quality detail on their speed drawing/paintings? Most of my videos are in low lighting with really bad orange light.
What does the feature "double-shot" do? Can it record in the internal HD and also record in the SDXC card simultaneously (so I get a backup of the same footage during filming?)?
@BG213121 hard to check canon's website? NO regular hot shoe only mini advanced, and why would want to have XLR mic OUTPUT?? Maybe you meant INPUT? Check out ZOOM H4N to go with your choice of video camera.
Although the imaging sensors are similar the HF G10 offers a surfeit of "pro" features, including: 2 x SD/SDHC/SDXCMemory Card Slots, Canon HD CMOS Pro Image Sensor,3.5" Touch Panel LCD,Dynamic SuperRange Optical Stabilization,Customization Cinema-Look Filters, and Professional Shooting Assist Functions. Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh{at}bandh{dot}com. Mark S.
I bought the canon legria hf g10 and its supossed to be the same camera as the vixia g10, but in my camera, the only frame rates is "PF25" and "50i". Do you know why and do you know if i can somehow get all the other frame rates. PLEASE HELP
I have a question ....I want to make some video clip so already have audio material and I am not interested for audio(sound) recording quality(it is already recorded as a song),I only care for visual side. so which one is better for me Canon XA10 or Canon Vixia HF G10 ???? please no biased answer.thank you whoever answers me
These are one and the same cameras. Canon brands all of their consumer camcorders as "VIXIA". Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh{at}bandh{dot}com
@F1NNAZ This. Way better autofocus then a DSLR could ever have. Also way easier to hold and use for shooting videos. DSLR's are photo cameras at their core, even if they take good video.
@F1NNAZ I think this is best for most of the every day stuff you would do. I have a t2i and the picture quality is outstanding but the dslr body can be tricky to set up on the fly or under pressure. I just ordered the G10. Cant wait...but I still love my t2i.
The Canon HFG10 (B&H # CAHFG10) offers a far better Pro Image CMOS imager, superior optics, Dynamic SuperRange Optical Stabilization, Customization Cinema-Look Filters, and Professional Shooting Assist Functions. Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh{at}bandh{dot}com. MarkS
The HFG10 and T4I are very different cameras. It will mostly depend mostly on what you are filming and what you need in a camera. Main advantages of the HFG10 will be the servo zoom, fast auto focus and long record time. The T4I has a larger sensor and interchangeable lenses with the ability to give a more film like feel. Worth double the price of a TM700? That had 2.53 MP versus the G10's 2.07MP. Yes.... the TM is not 1:1 pixel-to-pixel, BUT... downsizing from 2.53 is really not that much resizing (compared to canon's current 8.5mp video cameras). The TM700 has same internal memory. Value does figure in to the buying equation, and $1500 vs. $729 is considerable, and everyone voted the TM700 exceptional only a month ago. Does the G10 have 60P like the TM700? G10 seems nice but horrible value. Maybe for 1K.
@rickbrown03 There has been no word yet on them updating the HFG10 that I have heard. As for lightning port that won't really come into play. The camera transfers footage via a card reader or through USB from the camera.
Thank you for watching and thank you for your patronage. We truly value and appreciate it.
@shahin tamjidi The Canon Vixia HFG10 is the NTSC TV system model, the Canon Legria HFG10 is the PAL TV system model

The Canon HFG10 does have a remote terminal compatible with the LANC protocol.
@Jesse Williams According to Apple's web site, the Canon Vixia HF G10 is comaptible with iMovie 11.

This particular review was made with a Canon XH-G1 HDV camcorder, which we no longer use. Thanks for watching.
@torpedo192
The HFG10 will shoot 1920 x 1080 in three different frame rates, 60 interlaced, 24 progressive or 30 progressive
@luisdirgni17 Yes, the HFG10 has one 1/8" (3.5mm) Stereo Mini mic input.

@shahin tamjidi 25p is the PAL version equivalent to NTSC's 24p frame rate

@F1NNAZ 7D depending on your lenses.
But the HF G10 if you dont want to get other lenses
FCPX supports AVCHD. Just make sure you "import from camera" when transferring your footage.

can I use Vixia version in Australia?
I know PAL is stardand for Aus but Vixia is much cheaper than Legria.

I can`t shot in 24p with Legria. Is that the same too shot PF25? I mean PF25 = 24p?
Wider lens, focus ring, better low light.....It's about time.....Now I will wait for the G100
Hi All,

point and record - THIS, if you want PRO quality obviously 7D with all kinds of lenses is better

I've got it wait-listed @ B&H.

Yes, I have just sold my HV40 (HDV camera) and it was very popular with indie film makers but this is far better in low light.
gotta cop this to go along with my T3i #savingupnow
A little too expensive for the value I would be getting. Was more impressed with the Panasonic TMC900
Great info! I buy from you guys often
@wonderwall135
In most well lit situations is would be similar but blow it away in low light
@nambyshreda
It does.
Thanks, Rob, this helped a lot! Great clip
Quality between the two will be the same really. They have the same sensor and lens.
