The collab we have all been waiting for
Me too!
@@buildshowDear Matt, you are a top shelf guy, so here's some advice. Jettison these clowns asap..... Watching them work is a accident looking for a place to happen. As Ive said on their videos, i wouldnt let these guys build a mower shed on my property.
@@kdmigloo You haven't noticed yet how little your opinion means? :)
@@kdmigloo Yeah, I've seen a bunch of stuff that makes my OSHA-sense tingle. There is probably a 30 minute compilation reel of "don't try this at home, kids" or "don't drive like my brother" shots from their garage-mahal build. Sounds like a project for an AV nerd that just finished the OSHA 30.
@@kdmiglooif you have opinions like that you should definitely keep them to yourself because I’ve not seen many builders I would let build any for me but their an exception I would let them build my house. But I’ve been building and plumbing since the 80s so I’ve built all my houses and many more and plumbed all of them aswell. So until you can show your work or how safe you say you are. Please don’t be so dang rude I don’t know you but I imagine your mom might slap the crap out of you for some of your opinions, again just guessing because I don’t know you.
Paul is the man! him and his son and crew are great guys. I always see Paul lifting the heavy end he's an animal.
Thank you Matt for teaching building science. To new builders and older.
More to come! Appreciate that
We all feel this way👍
@@buildshow we are staying tuned; & thank you 🌞
Collaboration number 2 between The build Show and Stud Pack. Would love to see more in the future. Matt it has to be incredible to see someone else using some of the building techniques you taught us all while building your own home. Bravo!!!
OMG!!!! Matt & StudPack??? I nearly fell out of my chair! This is better than Iron Man teaming up with Batman & Robin!
So cool that you worked with the Stud Pack guys. Nice work, Matt!
Love the StudPack team… they are absolutely crushing it with great content!
Watching both of you for years. Love it.
Awesome! Thank you!
if it wasn't for your video showing Studpack I never would have found them, so thanks. I have watched their entire video catalogue and Paul,Jordan & Rad are wonderful to watch. Thanks Matt.
Hey Matt and Paul. Thanks for showing me this channel Paul. I missed this video 2 weeks ago.
Love the Stud Pack channel! So fun to see y’all together!
I love the Stud Pack channel. Very down to earth and honest view of construction. Great guys!
Great shining the light on Paul/Jordan. Those guys such a positive force who value the details.
Matt, I have been watching you way longer than Stud Pack but I gotta tell ya - it was the remodeling that got me into Stud Pack at first. This collaboration between the 2 UA-cam sites is just perfect! Thanks for all you do and great appreciation for what’s coming! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
That was a solid handshake at the end 😂 Big respect to you both, I’ve learned a lot from both channels.
This feels nostalgic like an episode of This Old House, but maybe it should be This New House. Wonderful video and a great meetup.
Love this collab! Two of my fav UA-cam channels!
I love Stud Pack!!! Paul is as good as they come.
Sterling episode, gents! Faves-list material, right away. Pints on me. Cheers!
WOW! Super generous! Thanks so much
Awesome collaboration
Damn stud pack for the win. I bet this video gets viewed 10.000.000 times.
These two are great builders the very inspiration for us all, and the ton of knowledge they have given me and the world is so valuable, STUD PACK and The BUILD SHOW, it goes to show that we can learn new things from each other.. Great Job guys, Matt, Paul, Jordan and daredevil Brad... Many thanks for your hard work one and all, keep on building and keep on innovating.
Love it. Stud pack has been one of my favorites for a while now. Good crossover
Matt, you need to look into a Garage Butler to solve your left open garage door problem. I have used one on each of my last two houses and swear by them.
Appreciate the tip. I’ll look that up
Love studpack, super funny guys and great info.
Love the intro. Great collab! Love these two teams.
Studpack and Risinger together....this is like Oceans 11
Lol 👍
Thanks to u guys i just received my TOTO in wall toilet frame and all the goodies to install it!! Now u r on the Build Show! Sweet!
Thank you both for a video that shows what to do, what not to do, and why.
That combined with your obvious respect for each other is a great way to start the day.
Love the PVC behind the electrical equipment! Did the same thing for my 200amp service upgrade
I learn a lot from these collaborations.
Two of my favorite tubers! 🤘
That was me - I punctured it and suggested that he put the sheet over the tank. Awesome!
Great job everyone! Love it!
Now all that needs to happen is doing a build with OG This Old House, Build Show, and Stud Pack.
I love these cross youtube collaborations.
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome video my favorite channels.
Wow, thanks!
Yeah, Only one of the greatest collabs in UA-cam history! Details matter, and Matt's building science is top notch. Love seeing it applied
by some of the best. We need to stop building 10 year or less disposable houses, and build homes for life with some of these great simple modifications.
My 2 FAVORITE build channels! ❤❤
Nice! Great energy, good seeing you both shoot the shit. Sometimes people talk over each other and it's awkward but a lot of respect and jokes made it fun.
Love the flip. Awesome collaboration
Great job !!! I like how you have thought ahead of all the weak points long term a house can have and modified it at the build ! Many generations will live there!!!
I love all the collabs with my favorite UA-camrs. Matt. Have you visited Roger Wakefield yet?
It's interesting and fun to watch these collabs come together like a planetary alignment, and it's been great to see all the participants get space to do their thing. They maintain authenticity while adding genuine value to both the project and their respective channels.
G,day from Sydney Australia.
Well I'll be dipped. They are good durability improvements in residential buildings.
I have never seen a cathedral roof truss, thank you.
🌏🇭🇲
Stud Pack is awesome!
Stud Pack fan here. I always love the details that Paul, Jordan, and Rad do.
Lol, I was watching Studpack way before I found Matt. It all started with The Perkins Brothers for me though. Then I went down the rabbit hole.
Same, but stud pack are an accident waiting to happen
Seeing both people I watch collab is really awesome.
Two favorite building channels on YT!!
I started watching you Matt a while back and was surfing youtube to find a video on platform beds when I found Studpack, the dynamic of Paul and Jordan (and now Rad) has kept me glued to the channel, I was crazy happy to see the collaboration videos on both channels! Segway, what is the name brand of those pants you have on in the video?
Love it, spectacular.
Awesome collab!
Freaking awesome collab!!!!!
Sooooo good!
Hey Matt - LOVED the collab!! Well done!!
Such a dope collab! Great builders and even better people.
Great collaboration. I almost fell over when I saw Matt on the Stud Pack channel! Two great builders on two great channels. 👍🏼
Loving these collab's. You know we need like 4-5 YT team collab right?
Love these guys!
Two of my favorite UA-camrs in one segment 😮 🎉 Awesome work
Great video...... This is two great YOU TUBE channels. You can learn a lot.....
Stumbled across this and didn't know you guys were brothers. I subbed and rang that bell. Cool
I was chatting with an engineer about this a couple days ago; a hinge point in a gable wall with a gable truss is apparently a common mistake. When I was building my house, the truss designer on my house included a gable truss on the first revision, but I already had an engineered gable wall so this was caught immediately. This is fine if you have flat bottom chords to brace to, but with parallel or scissor vaulted trusses, fixes like this are often required. In Canada gable walls like this have to be engineered beyond prescriptive code. I noticed it when they were showing a shot of the trusses from the interior, and was going to comment. I'm glad the builder realized and remediated the problem.
Love it.
I love it! Also, I think the term for a garage with a living space above is a carriage house.
Paul is in great shape for 60yrs old and having a titanium hip.
If this house was in my town he could take the old house apart and put the debris out and put prices on it and it would be gone within an hour. Hell, if it was in my town, the garage would have been razed & all materials would have been stolen.
I like the idea of putting something on the outside for when you're adding siding later. I think using pvc boards is cheaper though. Would love to find he video with the detail on flashing above.
No puncture zone! LOL. Good idea though.
I love seeing collabs like this.
Awesome job! You guys are great together. Hopefully there is more to come. Matt needs to do some more hard work anyway 😜😂.
Collab of the year! Next collab I would like to see is with Matt and @BelindaCarr
Shes an actual architect and not just a tuber too. They are geographically close as well.
@@danielbuckner2167 Yup. Austin Dallas close enough to get together
Matt you should get into home automation stuff and specifically Home Assistant. Super easy to stick up a door contact that when opened shuts off the AC
Great episode. I like those guys a lot. Paul, Jordan, and Rad the Stunt Carpenter are packing the studliness into that garage-mahal. That garage makes my fifty-year-old house look like a shack. Every time I watch I feel the drafts worse. I have to renovate. Dread overwhelms me. I need a Build Show consultant. Send Steve Bazeck by here.
the pvc board for the electric boxes in a genius move!
Momentary kill switch handy on sliding glass doors. Every Hotel in Hawaii has these to shut off in room air-con.
More studpack!
It’s been great getting to know Paul, Jordan and rad. I like Matt too, haven’t watched every single one of his videos yet though
Awesome garage holy mackerel!
💯 Builder Guild
You didn't talk about putting a spray paint line on trusses when they arrived so they all get installed in the same direction, keeping the home square. They come off the massive wood planer a bit thinner on oneside. Who knew.
the legends collide
nice stuff
Flimsy gable ends are a common problem/mistake. I have specified PSL 5.25x5.25 for the plates and the contractor was wondering what I was doing. I even had to specify steel horizontal/vertical in some cases. You also have to detail all the connections between the plates or verticals to the roof diaphragm for some fairly high wind load. It is a finicky thing to deal with. It is those kinds of details that actually take more time than doing all the sizing for the rest of the house. That is where all your design time money goes.
Matt if you have myQ garage door you can do what I do and schedule an automatic door closing schedule every couple hours (x12) and repeat daily so you never forget to shut door as a backup!
Been following Paul and crew for a while!! Since I seem to accidentally be in perpetual remodel mode, I really appreciate all their insight.
Love
DAMMMNNN Matt you're still a STUD for 51!!!
Product Review Suggestion: Please do a video for the CERV2 ERV/HRV/Dehumidifier/Filtration system
Matt, nerd alert. My garage door tells me when it's open for more than 15 minutes so I can close remotely.....from anywhere. Or open it if someone needs to get in..
Glad you two got together for this I watch both channels for the best in smart ideas and great results. The steel "no puncture zone" was a great shout out to your, ahem, little accident...
program your garage door opener to close after a few minutes or so. include an overide swich.
1:53 Awesome idea, great work! Can you show more of the panel, or other options. Is this Azek or what other options suggest to make this detail? Thank you.
What thickness steel is the "no puncture zone" made of? I just installed my TOTO pack, and also need to protect it. Thx!
There’s a place in Houston that carries the PVC sheets.
The author does like to from scratch, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.
9:46 what thickness and type of metal sheet?
I’m thinking about doing this to protect the back of my electrical breaker panel
NO PUNCTURE ZONE....BWAHHHHHH!!!
I see the stud pack house I click
See Paul with Studpack: thumbs up. it's that simple
My wife sent me a link to a link of thisoldhouselife where they show old houses for sale. What do I think... I think I said, "I have no interest in a house that will require tens of thousands of dollars of maintenance and/or have other issues due to its age." But it was remodeled, she said. No thanks. I want a modern house with building science and near passive house certification thanks to all these videos... to be continued I'm sure. I love these videos.
You and Paul work great together. Keep these collabs going!
I was checking to see if it's April 1st 😂.
New to the channel. What’s an LDL?
Matt, couldn’t you also program the garage door to auto-close after a specified amount of time of being open?
Thanks for mentioning subscribing…. I had somehow lost my subscription to your channel. Got it fixed now.
