I can't believe I've never heard Neal Morse...i've been a dream theater fan since 1991 and I am a Christian and have always wanted this style of music with these kind of lyrics....I'm blown away right now myself being a musician.....instantly hooked!!
Also look for the band he helped form; "Spock's Beard" :). He was with them (along with his guitarist/brother) till the album "Snow" (the last 3 albums lead vocalist is Ted Leonard, yet another amazing vocalist who is also from the Heavy Prog Rock band "Enchant"). Also checkout Neal in "Transatlantic" and "Flying Colors", both with Portnoy on Drums :). If you go to Neal, Portnoy and Leonard's wiki pages, you'll find all the bands they have played with - the "Family Tree" could be as long reaching as Deep Purple :D.
Eric Blackwell If you haven't listened to Haken before, I would highly recommend them if you're a Dream Theater fan. The Mountain is one of my favorite albums.
KyleJPie10 haha its one of my favorites too. haken is awesome! well I appreciate it tho. im going to leave you with one last one the band Peresfone album: spirtaul migration enjoy dude keep rockin!
The last 3 minutes always gives me goosebumps. The way it returns to the opening melody, only slower and more confident, is a wonderful representation of the journey I've just been on.
Neal Morse and the various projects are so much more significant that any musician I can think of. The totality and the quality are just not matched. He seems to have only gotten better as his years have gone on. The sheer amount of it is so HUGE. Its a shame that so many will pass on him because that can't stand the idea of hearing about the LORD that loves them and saves them in times of trouble. Let it not be so anymore. Jesus LOVES you. "all those that call on the name of the LORD shall be saved".
This has become my favorite song on this album. I can't get enough of it! I've been listening to it every morning on my way to work- perfect since getting to work takes approximately 23 minutes. Thank you to this awesome band for making my mornings a little brighter!
I thought i was halucinating listening to this. How could i never have heard of Neal Morse band? This is the coolest stuff ive ever heard! And its Christian!? Unbelievable!
This is their pinnacle in my opinion. Everything is in this song. So much better than a half hour of television. I could go on and on. Then I’d be labeled a progger. And yes I am.

Beautiful Neal is back again with a great new album... and with new fresh sound mixed with old. :) he is god of prog rock...
Una gran pieza musical. Sublime. Neal Morse, un gran, gran, gran músico. El rock progresivo sigue dando grandes bandas. Siempre escuché a Génesis, Yes, Jhetro Tull, ELP, Camel, Marillion. Neal... no hay nada que envidiar....Abrazo desde Argentina!!!
From the start I can tell I'll love this as a co-worker turned me onto We Came From Space when their latest album dropped in February and I've been loving their stuff!
For some reason, pop, rap, and dub step are the most listened to and respected music cultures. I think prog is certainly the most interesting, and the most complicated. It's my favourite by far, anyway. Prog isn't a very popular music culture, (even though it's the best,) so I'm just surprised to see so many views and comments considering how recently it was released.
Jonathan Taylor I caught myself thinking the same, but let the prog not very popular, I don't want to see this beautiful kind of music become a new wave of coolness :)
Eikinel Why do you say that? What if prog did become popular and we saw a whole generation of thousands of suddenly inspired people creating amazing and unique music?
It was more popular in the 70's in the Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Rush era. It was passing at the radio but now it's more a underground genre, sad but we need some new bands to bring this back
If Pink Floyd released this under their name with Gilmour singing the lead vocals it would go gold easily, it just shows how a good reputation can make your music heard.

Another eipc from Neil. By far best song of the album, could have been Transatlantic song as well. The instrumental section starting around 13:35 minutes is fantasic. Effenaar Eindhoven 18 July : here we come !

At times this sounds like the generic metal that I'm not really into, but other than that, this song blows me away! This is the first song I've heard from this band, any recommendations?
A very promising song exploring many of the aspects of progressive rock. However, the singing at parts is slightly too Bruno Mars but that may or may not make this song and the general category more accessible to a wider, 2010-audience. I would have also added some more high notes in order to fully fill up the soundscape because I felt that this song, while almost there, was still lacking something to be a masterpiece of the likes of 'Close to the Edge' by Yes. All in all, at parts a reminiscent of the late 70's can be heard, the influence of many progressive rock epochs and the likes of Dream Theater. Alive Again is a good shot at the beyond of rock, but it shows that development is still needed.
I can't believe I've never heard Neal Morse...i've been a dream theater fan since 1991 and I am a Christian and have always wanted this style of music with these kind of lyrics....I'm blown away right now myself being a musician.....instantly hooked!!

I hear ya! Same here - long time DT fan and was always hoping for something like this to come through.
mvunit3, you mean Neal Morse is related to Steve Morse of Deep Purple?
@@ichbinvegetarische7471 he's not ;)
The same here. Hear someone sculpting the air the way he does with this highest purpose is like receiving a gift from God! Can't stop listening to it.
It's so refreshing to hear music that requires several listens to fully appreciate the beauty of it.
You should check out bands like Haken, Native Construct, and Between the Buried and Me
That's the best part about prog music! Glad to read that other people feel the same! Amazing song!
I dont believe in God. But I am glad Neal does.
my friend I'm betting he will turn your heart one day! GOD BLESS!! Merry Christmas!!!
Neal is the only person that can get me to sing "Jesus is my lifelineeeeeeee"
The man is simply a genius regardless if you agree with the his views or not.
89saur There’s something special going on...God or not...
I don´t believe in God either, but I believe in Mike Portnoy and, of course, in Neal Morse...
This is absolutely the most refreshing sounding prog I've heard in years.
KyleJPie10 you like this try his other band with mike portnoy (dream theater) flying colors album second nature! its a masterpiece IMO
Eric Blackwell I follow Portnoy wherever he goes. As well as Morse.
cool man ya I figured but just throwing it out there just in case. got any good album/music suggestions? I always welcome new music. cheers man!
Truly one of the finest pieces of music I've ever heard
This is truly one of the best tracks I've heard in my 58 year lifetime
I come back to this song every now and then and I'm always so taken back by how incredible this is. Just such a masterpiece
The last 3 minutes always gives me goosebumps. The way it returns to the opening melody, only slower and more confident, is a wonderful representation of the journey I've just been on.
Neal morse arrangements are each a master class.
Only two songs have ever moved me to the point of tears at the very first hearing...the first was Awaken by Yes...now this. Glorious....Glorious!
Neal Morse and the various projects are so much more significant that any musician I can think of. The totality and the quality are just not matched. Magic still happens in today's music business..
With musicians like this it does.
@@briarboy11 absolutamente sí!!!!
Their prime spirits belong to 80~90's though
The guitar playing is phenomenal!
Yeah bro! Everything is phenomenal about this epic song!
Also the Bass is very impressive! By talking of string instruments! :)

Album fantastico ….!! Band meravigliosa , musica eccellente .

@@primerolapatriajoaquinrios5905 hola hermano! Bueno, ya somos dos que en Argentina seguimos a Neil Morse!
Nothing short of a masterpiece. Love the catharsis at 23:02. Just keep coming back.
This is just an outstanding song, Mr. Neal Morse please play this song next time you come to Chicago.
This song is addictive. I heard it live in Malmoe, Scania, a few months ago and I was stunned that music can be this good.
The Bass is soo present and audible in neal morse's sound, makes me remember Rush, Yes and Spock's Beard his Ex Band
Incredible Neil just keeps putting out one epic after another, just blows my mind.
historical moment! A classic is born
This piece is so beautiful and well-put together. I don't believe in god but I still thank him for giving us Neal Morse.
Oh my god i have never had a song give me a goosebump eargasm this many times in one song

It's brainwashing with tv like the x(crap)-factor with their 3min pop songs. They are all karoke singers.
most complicated instrumentally sure lyrically yeah uh no

Try Spock's Beard when Neal Morse was in the band! ;)
Spock's Beard is awesome, I like their albums with Neal Morse. :)
Flower Kings are quite awsome too! :)
I sincerely believe that the fact this song is a gospel-ish makes it even more beautiful.
A truly stunning song, amazing band.
The last 6:28 of this song are simply breathtaking. Exceptional. The first 3:25 are gold as well.

Thank you so much Neal...After so many weeks of setbacks in my life, I feel alive again. This is the kind of music that makes life worth living.

Me llamaste en medio de las olas
Y aguas rebeldes
Sosteniendo dentro
Cara en un espejo
Parece disfrazarse
El chico de la puerta
Quien era antes
Es más de lo que nunca seré El sol besó el día
Estaba en camino
Me encantaría amarte

Scott Anderson Agreed, and that's awesome! Hope you have fun in January, but I can tell you will regardless haha. Cheers m8
The only issue I have with this masterpiece, is that it fades out. Finish the song at least!
Another eipc from Neil. By far best song of the album, could have been Transatlantic song as well. The instrumental section starting around 13:35 minutes is fantasic. Effenaar Eindhoven 18 July : here we come !
You called me forth amid the waves
And wayward waters
That kind of trust I've never found
I always wind up sinking down
Was I really dead
And at the bottom of the ocean?
Stay the course I heard you say
But all I saw was the long way...
Down
Now I feel like I’m alive again
Spread my arms upon the open wind
Yeah, I feel like I'm alive again
Crashing waves like breath upon my skin
The wounded warrior
Has no temporary shelter
Chasing down an enemy
That always lurked inside of me
Finally he killed
What he had come to think his quarry
The man whose heart was like the sea
Was gone and he would never be found
Now I feel like I'm alive again
Spread my arms upon the open wind
Yeah, I feel like I’m alive again
Never looking back to where I've been
I can see the light
Burning in my soul
I can see the light
I know that I must go
The king of surprise
In the boredom queen
Went out to dine at the bottom line
Drinking blood red wine
The jack of all trades
And the master of none
Set out to get back at most everyone
It's not too late to get free
There's something more you used to see
Get back to where you used to be
Fly away
Lost in the place I'm dreaming
I wanna hideaway
Gone forever
Flyaway
Far from the silent screaming
I wanna hideaway
Gone forever
Daughters of angst and wretched rage
Pulled a sword from the stone
Like Al Capone
As the king of pain goes insane
Where the Pope of Rome
Meets the pope at home
And the nicotine stain goes unexplained
Fly away
Lost in the place I'm dreaming
I wanna hideaway
Where I can't remember
Flyaway
Far from the silent screaming
I'm gonna hideaway
Gone forever
Locks on a box
Holding inside
Face in a mirror
Seems to disguise
The boy at the door
Who I was before
Is more than I’ll ever be
The sun kissed the day
I was well on my way
I’d love to just love you
But I've no time today
The man that I saw
Who could stand on the sea
Was more than I’d ever be
Sometimes
In the dark night of my soul
In the corner of my life
I see the man inside
Morning again
The sun shining in
The boy from the sad side
No chance to win
Has walked through the door
To something much more
More than I'd ever be
Sometimes
In the dark night of my soul
From the corner of my life
I see the man inside
Now I find
He is making my dreams alive
In the brightness of my day
I can see the man inside
The wounded warrior
With no temporary shelter
Had lost the will to stand and fight
To the enemy that lives inside
Now he's on the run
Because the King of angel armies
Has come to bring the dead to life
And quench the darkness with the light
Now I feel like I'm alive again
Stretch my arms upon the open wind
Yeah, I feel like I’m alive again
Never going back to where I've been
I can see the light
Burning in my soul
I can see the light
I know that I must go
I must go

All in all, at parts a reminiscent of the late 70's can be heard, the influence of many progressive rock epochs and the likes of Dream Theater. Alive Again is a good shot at the beyond of rock, but it shows that development is still needed.
