Easy And Simple Overhead Irrigation System for Vegetable garden under $40 - Dummy Proof too

- Overhead irrigation systems can be really expensive and complicated, this one is the opposite of that! Our overhead irrigation set up costed us under 40 dollars and took less than a half an hour to set up and I made this video to help spread the word about how easy setting up irrigation can be because I know when I started looking at how to set up irrigation I was extremely overwhelmed and didn't know where to start. Let me know what if anything you guys would change about this set up and what you like about it!!

Wow! Tho is incredibly sensible. I just can’t with all these complicated drip irrigation set ups. I think overhead gets a bad wrap. My grandparents were farmers and they used overhead irrigation with great results

Howzit Nick! I've now watched all your videos & like 'em. Thanks so much! BUT I'm wondering - aside from cost factors - why are you using overhead watering as opposed to soaker hose, drip or other types? Blight & accursed Powdery White Mildew have been my bane!
I've gardened on BI Hawaii, SV Idaho, Laconia NH, and Southern WA all along the Columbia River. Everywhere except Idaho & NH, I've suffered blighting, in particular the accursed white "Powdery Mildew" - which despite trimming infected branches and treating with various 'recommended' organic liquid sprays, persists in reducing yields even to the point where flowers fall off before fruit develops. Invariably it starts on zucchini & summer squash varieties on their huge ground hugging leaves. Next is tomatoes - cherries less so than other varieties.
Last year in southern WA, even in 2.5' raised beds, the mildew blight infected my trellised lemon cucumbers starting about a week after beginning to harvest, then tomatoes and even eggplant (green beans were impervious, both pole & bush types). Tried everything, but nothing seems to cure it. Here in Southern WA where summer is hot and rain is rare, I switched to soaker hoses. But that wasn't until August... late into the season. Most of the time (tho much earlier in Hawaii), the blight starts around the time the first phase fruits approach ripening... leading me to suspect plant stress as a contributing factor. I've read that the mildew spores are hearty and thrive in most if not all soil. So.... is it hopeless? (without chemical treatment... we grow mostly organically, although, to be honest, I think "Organic" seeds are BS). In dense urban Tokyo, where (vacant) land lot taxes are avoided if farmed, much Asian Eggplant etc. is grown - soil is mounded in rows, which are covered by black plastic with holes cut out around the plants on a drip or soaker hose system. Could trying a version of this help reduce mold/mildew transfer from the soil to the plant? I'm thinking to try it this season... But would surely appreciate any advance feedback and advice from you or your fans!
Kudos to you on cultivating your produce business. We are restaurateurs and hope to use our crop on the menu this year now that Covid (relatively) behind us so that we can reopen our shop. New businesses take so much time and love - but we hope you can continue to produce videos. How about analysis of Drip vs Soaker Hose systems, timer systems, etc? Btw - Where is your farm? I couldn't find what State you're in... it would be helpful to understand the growing conditions of your particular locality. Thanks!

OK, so I am trying to do this with 3 heads but, the gray PVC female to female connector is leaking profusely where it connects to the sprinkler. Should I be using tape or glue or something? How did you keep yours from leaking?

I have one area of my garden in a soaker hose setup, but I need the other half set up like, literally, before tomorrow morning, because I'm leaving on vacation for a week. How long do you guys run the sprinkler on an average summer day? Seems like it would need to run for a while with evaporation loss and because it's covering such a wide area, no? I'm just gonna have to set the timer and pray I chose the right length of time! I think we're gonna have a heat wave while I'm gone and I just planted my fall brassicas! SMH
Don’t know why but I didn’t get notified of this comment so sorry for late response lol in the summer if it gets 90-100 I will let it run through the entire heat of the day sometimes. Like 1 to 7 pm, again that’s extremely hot days normal run time is more like 1-2 hours usually
@@nnoble92 that's a massive amount of water at full pressure. We get 45c where I live and I only water mornings and or evenings. Watering too much leads to shallow plant roots which leads to problems. Deep watering less often makes the roots grow deeper and therefore they need less water and handle hot days much better.
Really like mounting the head to a pole. I've been trying to use the same head on an old tripod. Way too frustrating. Question: why have you placed it so high? Is there a gardening reason? Thanks in advance.
