- We're back in the dark, Steampunk, zombie-infested world of They Are Billions! This game may be a few years old now, but it's still a blast! For this run, I'm going to push myself with a max difficulty Frozen Highlands map. That means maximum infected, very little food, huge power drains, and only 73 days before the final wave hits. Can we survive?

Speaking from experience with the most recent version, it's not the greatest idea to delete rearward defenses after you expand. The final wave will break your forward lines, with tripwire, Stone Towers, Shock Towers, Executors, and 4 layers of stone walls, and get into your base at max difficulty, and you will need defenses in the other sections.

Yeah if he is recording this "with us" (and hasn't already done this game) definitely would have two or three line of defences.
I used to
clear the map
have the first line at the edge (not right at the edge but enough for shock tower, couple of wasps & spikes.)
my second line was about where he is now in a crescent shape (on the minimap) with two shocking towers out before triple x3 stone walls mixed with ballistas & wasps
my last defence was basically where your homestead was (just a couple of rows of housing then the defences)
This typically I try and get a couple of ballistas and walls up, but as I did this whilst the final wave was happening, I either a) didn't need to or b) couldn't build as I failed :)
i've seen people delete their houses just to put down more towers. i think pravus spent too much time walking back and forth. he should have just stayed up north and expanded NW after the wave. the travel down south imo is too slow. i also think he should have expanded further down south east at the turn. don't know if there is a hole or not between the forest and the lake.

Well, maybe, but it's not like he can't win the final wave on his current position. He may need to go a bit faster to get the Oil deposits and a decent number of Thanatos out before the final wave, but it seemed like he was speeding up a bit after he got snipers out.
I only ever delete rearward defenses when there's like 2 others ahead of it haha, I've gotten bit too many times to not have a lot of redundant design.

I think the southern mutant got close enough to the southeast ballistas that it was in range while the ballistas were firing at straggling zombies.
my thoughts as well. the mutants move around on their own just enough, that you could potentially set up ballistas out of his range when he is further away, only for him to move back into range on his own
I'd really recommend getting those shock towers because later the amount of low tier would become so ridiculous your soldiers/snipers won't keep up killing them. That would allow those zombie to chew through the walls like butter.
You should absolutely play the campaign if you find the time, it's great fun.
and the way it restricts technology is rather fun. makes you think further ahead about what thinks to unlock, what units to epgrade, and what locations to hit first, so you do tactics before you even start the level
100%, its got some cool challenges to it and the tech tree upgrades really enrich the gameplay causing you to specialize more.
I too think you would enjoy the campaign.
I honestly found it incredibly dull - especially the hero missions. Some levels had interesting challenges, but it also doesn't help that the beginning starts out *really* easy.

Battle Realms Zen Edition. I would really like to see Pravus play this
word of advice : keep the rear defenses. you'll need multiple defense lines for the final wave since they will absolutly break through the first line.
also, kinda my own bias, but the shocking tower is one of the best defensive buildings, you should look into getting some

The mutants weren't that scary with all the snipers around. I thought they would have way more health for some reason.
From what Pravus said before, it's not so much that the mutants themselves are a big threat individually (though they are pretty tough; that much concentrated sniper fire does a number of them), but that they have the potential to gather a small horde of milling zombies in their wake. You can see how much damage and additional zombies the southern one that surprised him caused before he was able to reposition his forces. Now imagine that happening on day 20.
Also if there are several mutants clustered... there's always a good chance of them attacking all within 30s or something.

Stop building ballista towers and split the snipers. Build normal tower with 2 snipers to protect and build normal wall, you are not saving anything there.
Pravus i know that its asking a lot considering you are working as it is but is it possible to prioritise this series or make them longer? Theres just something super ASMR about you playing they are billions and that survival medieval siege castle game its just next level man haha much love from bulgaria
