Let me introduce you to the ultimate financial companion for anyone like us, living abroad, traveling often, or juggling currencies across different countries. I've found that the Wise multi-currency account significantly boosts financial flexibility with its low foreign transaction and conversion fees-way lower than what you'd usually see with traditional banks. Whether you're getting paid in a different currency than your daily expenses or you're managing finances in more than one country, Wise has become my go-to solution.
Imagine holding and instantly converting over 54 currencies at the real, transparent exchange rate-the same one you'd find on Google. Wise has empowered me to navigate the global financial landscape like never before. It's time to say goodbye to hidden charges and hello to clear, upfront transparency. With Wise, you can spend online or in-person in over 200 countries, making you feel like a local anywhere you go.

Thank you for reviewing WISE. I found this when I had to book an accommodation in HK. Since I have been using my WISE so frequently, I got my WISE card sent to me for free probably due to a number of transactions that I’ve done previously. This physical card would cost between £5-£7.50 depending on the card you wish to have. Overall Wise is the best card and account that I ever have

I got my physical card. Application was easy, but the standard delivery was a nightmare in my area. If you have a problem with the delivery, first check your address and make sure it is correct, then may contact the customer service of the courier to resolve. You will need to be (very) patient with the standard courier if he/ she has problem with your address. Mine took 2 times (reorder new card) and 3 rounds of delivery (1 round for the 1st and 2 rounds for the 2nd) to be done with the assistant of customer service.

I’ve been using this method since last year, so far so good haha
Pros: convert and cash in to IBKR relatively easy and quickly, fees lower and without much hassle or extra steps to be done in the process
Cons: the holding limit just way too low, wish to increase more like 50k and below 100k ringgit if possible
Haven’t got a chance to use that physical card yet, but trying to see if the virtual wise Apple Pay could be useful in my upcoming Japan trip this May 😂

I've been using my Wise card for over three years now for transactions in Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea without any issues. Keep in mind that some stores may not accept contactless payments and may require you to insert your card and enter your PIN (this is common in most stores in New Zealand). You can simply choose debit for these transactions. The same goes for fueling up at any New Zealand petrol stations

I would like to know whether it would be more expensive if I just left my money in MYR and spend it in a foreign currency abroad by letting WISE do the auto conversion … as opposed to converting it to the foreign currency beforehand ( i know converting before hand we can get our desired rate) … but let’s say the exhange rate was the exact same ,is the first option more costly by incurring any extra fees ?

I am new to Wise card. I heard Wise card from a group of face book as I am planning a trip to Japan. I read some posts from face book saying about Wise card so convenience. I have a few questions about Wise card.
    1. If I open an account and exchange US dollar to Japanese yen, the money will be from my personal bank. Am I correct? That means when i oepn an account, I have to link my bank account information to my wise account. Is it correct? Once the money is converted to Japanese yen, it will be sit on my wise account. Right now, US dollar is really strong to yen, I can convert the money to yen. When I arrive at Japan, I just used physical wise card to withdraw money. Am I correct?
    2. Do I need to make any international transfer or any transfer before I can withdraw the money from my wise card for the trip? or I just need to withdraw the money from ATM machine in my country (US). If I withdraw too much yen in Japan, can I make a deposit put the yen back to my wise card from ATM machine?
    3. Can I have multiples currency on my account, like Japanese yen and Hong Kong dollar or Euro?
    4. Since you said no physical branch in any where, are there any phone numbers to get help or ask any questions in US?

I find the auto conversion to be a nuisance sometimes as I was not able to choose the currency which I want to use for the payment regardless of savings. What I mean is if if I have an RM and SGD wallet and paying a GBP transaction. I was not able to choose to pay RM as I wanted to retain SGD for something else. So with the auto conversion they selected the SGD.
I could be wrong. If anyone knows how to manually select a currency for payment pls let me know. Cheers

      @ZietInvests  Місяць тому

Hi Casey, sorry i must have missed your previous comment.
Re your question, you have to check whether your FCA allows such outbound transfer, as far as I know you can't do that in Wise (no FCA account funding option), but that doesn't mean you can't give a try sending USD from FCA to your Wise USD balance account (there should be a virtual USD account number).
But best check with your FCA bank or Wise customer support coz personally i haven't done that before.
      Hope this answers!

Hi Ziet, I earn in USD and have funds in my Wise account. I prefer not to convert everything back to MYR due to the significant depreciation of MYR against USD. However, there is a limit on the amount I can hold in Wise. Do you have any suggestions on how I can invest or securely store the extra USD, perhaps in a highly secure account with protection? I am aware of Interactive Brokers from your recommendation, but I am concerned about the risks associated with stable stocks and ETFs like the SNP500, although very low. I am looking for a very secure option, similar to a savings account, that maybe can offer an annual interest rate of 2-3%, while ensuring safety.
