I think this is one my favorite videos that you have ever uploaded. You switched it up so much, I loved it. When you went to apply blush I was 10009% waiting for you to hold up amaretto or something, but then you hit us with the cheekathon palette and I was like okayyyy girl WORRRRK. You accomplished an absolutely gorgeous look using so many of your non go to products. I can't believe how many people care so much about what you do to your own body or feel it's okay to comment about your cheeks. I hope this helps you in some way Jaclyn! I love your videos, and I feel genuinely excited when you post your tutorials!! I think I realized why you could be in a rut. You make very "safe" tutorials. You work well and look amazing in mauves, nudes, and warm tones. Your eyes are usually shades of pink and brown. Your lips are also usually shades of pink and brown. You always have winged liner, and you use products from the same companies. I think you should play with BRIGHT and vivid colors! Try a blue or violet lip, and maybe switch up the way you smoke out your eyes. You dont always need to use medium brown transition shades girlfriend :) Instead of spending $50 on a Marc Jacobs foundation, spend $50(including shippinh) on a brand that isn't even sold in the US so that your international subbies could relate, and so you can broaden your horizons.

I just don't think changing up the transition color or even wearing a purple lip would do anything as far as these videos go. people used to watch makeup videos on UA-cam for tips and tricks. But that just isn't the case with her videos anymore (or most youtubers) for that matter. It is basically just then putting on makeup over and over, how they wear it on a daily basis. I don't think that's going to change because she's already given all the information she knows.
It's just a far cry from videos of Lisa Eldridge who discusses history and trends, or even Wayne Goss or Aly Art (who doesn't have enough subscribers).
I love Jaclyn as a person and respect the hustle but there's going to be a huge transition soon away from this because the market is flooded with the same old same old and is all about advertising and collabs and coupon codes. It just isn't what it used to be and people are going to move on if these youtubers don't find a way to make original content. It's all becoming the same and their personality will only keep them going for so long.

I never thought of it that way, but you are so right. I have, however, become interested in Jeffree Star and NikkiTutorials because of the fact that they have their own routine, they change things up, they do super fun looks, and they dont use the same products (Nikki lives in the Netherlands so she def uses different brands). I know no successful UA-camr wants to fall into this rut, which is what you described in your first paragraph, which is why I tried to solicit advice to Jaclyn!

No, it's not weird - I have small eyes/lids, and am SOOOOO envious of those who have beautiful Space to work with! I can't use a lot of colors on my eyes, because it ends up looking like one big blob! ;-)
It's not weird at all. My eyelids are hooded, that's why I will never learn how to work with the eyeshadows or a cat eyeliner haha

Hey Jaclyn, I'm seeing a lot of hate comments, or something that could be constructive criticism, but it's delivered in a way where it's just hating on you, so I thought I would explain a little bit. I think a lot of people are getting bored, me included. We know that you're extremely talented at makeup and we love your tutorials, but I think a lot of people are getting tired of the same look. We really only see warm looks from you, and I think we would all love a tutorial where you are using more cool tones, rose tones, different techniques, etc. which would allow you to challenge yourself and have more diversity on your channel. I think we would also love to see a new series. We love your tutorials, hauls, and favorites, but it's all we really see from you. It would be great to see some vlogs, makeup on others, Top 10's, etc. I hope this doesn't offend you in anyway, I just think a lot of people are getting bored of the same old same old. Nothing but love.

Ugh I agree! I try doing my makeup with foundation and concealers and powders and I get done and end up looking like shit and have to take it alI off. I wish there were more tutorials for mature skin however I don't think she has mature skin problems and could help. 😩😩

About a year ago I decided I was done living in schlumpadinkaville now that my kids are teenagers. It was time for mama to get her sassy back. The 1st person I found on youtube was Jaclyn. I was obsessed with watching her... the problem is I have 45 year old skin not 25. The 1st time I baked my under eye I ended up looking like the crypt keeper. And it only takes about 2 extra swipes of blush or highlighter to go from glowey&pretty to wore out hooker.... +Shayli Brynn she's very vocal about how many projects she's working on so I'm sure she's super overwhelmed by it all. Being a UA-cam (very small, though) it's tough carving out the time to film, edit, and post frequently. Especially if it doesn't come out the way you want the first time, then you have to find the time to refilm. It's quite the process.

I literally had the same issue today with the purple eyeshadow so I did some research and for these eyeshadow singles from the brand Kiko Milano and they have a matte purple I want to get they are also super affordable but they're supposed to be high pigment. So we shall see.
Lol I was waiting on a reaction for the kickup in the modern renaissance palette.. It is super pigmented but the kickup is real! The pigment definitely makes up for it though!

I have a very important job interview tomorrow business casual in finance and I have been torn on what kind of makeup to wear which gave me the idea of doing a "get the job" series you could do different makeup and outfit looks for different jobs. I want to do full makeup but the job I'm shooting for is working with a group of professional women...ARE THEY GOING TO JUDGE ME? They might think I'm trying to hard but I wear glam makeup everyday it's how I live life lol.

I just recently had an interview at torrid a plus size clothing store and I too was in the same delimma. I have this leopard design I like to do on a small part of my lid but I ended up second guessing myself because as you said I didnt want to be overlooked because of it. I ended up doing a red lip with some neutral shadow! you can never go wrong with a red lip. my two go tos for interviews are
red lip, skin color shadow/no shadow, with lashes on full retrospect
or red lip with brown shadow!

I hear you girlfriend lol you will never go wrong with a nude lid try to play up your lashes a bit maybe do a inner eye highlight and also I have noticed tiny feline flicks on the lid (and when I say tiny i mean subtle) really helps open the eye. for the lips if red is too bold maybe a blush pink color would be a very elegant compromise, I myself dont like falsies so when I do go heavy glam I tend to just do an extra coat of mascara. for my interview I did a white butterfly top skinny jeans and some wedges lol

why do people call girls haters for praising natural beauty. if we start saying that lip injections and botox make you look good at such a young age then we're just promoting the wrong thing. jaclyn, I think your natural self is absolutely gorgeous. you don't want to hear criticism about the fillers but honestly it's a huge compliment that it is not necessary.
And people don't realize once you start fillers, you pretty much can't stop. They stretch out the skin, so when the fillers wear off, you'll have sagging skin unless you keep doing it. Why do girls want to do that to themselves at such a young age when they don't need it at all? It's literally causing premature aging

I've read/heard this a couple of times: Sometimes youtubers use more makeup/product to intensify the look, because the camera+lights make it look less in the end and not as dramatic. And then the thumbnail. Just look at the difference between the thumbnail and video. Don't want to speak for her in any way, but that could be a reason for her to be overdoing her bronzer that much
They say it gives you a "Sunkissed look" but in reality it looks like they rolled in mud

it makes her feel more confident and beautiful, it's no body's business and it's no body's place to judge. So long as she isn't breaking the law or hurting anyone its a non-issue.

I'm going to be a junior in high school and last year was a horribly stressed year for me. I was always stressed about my grades and I felt like I never knew what was going on in class. My point is, we have all been there. We've all been in a place in our lives where were stressed and anxious and don't know what to do. We also know that times like this will pass and you just gotta keep going and look at the positives. You have so many incredibly supportive subscribers and we're all here for you. Love you😘
