RIP Scott "Top Ten" Kempner😥
I didn't know. I grew up down the street from Rhino records where he worked and he was a huge influence on my listening. His coworkers sent me up to the register one day with a dictators CD and he became bashful and dismissive, saying it was kids music. I worked at Amoeba Hollywood just after he left and he loomed large for his kindness, I would say he was as beloved in music retail as he was for the music he produced. He was very nice to me and generous with his words and time when I was an annoying kid. RIP Top Ten, this video is an incredible document, so rippin!!!
Damn. I obviously knew Ross was a good lead guitarist, but Top Ten is tearing it up on lead right along with him here. Never seen that before!
Handsome Dick is such an endearing goofball. Absolutely no singing talent but his charisma and attitude pulls him through. Out of place in the best way possible.
I was at this show. I basically went to see The Ramones and The Nuns who were on the bill. Had never heard of The Dictators before that night. They put on one hell of a show!
Pretty kool show !!!
COCA COLA FOR BREAKFAST BABY !!!!
I didn't go see the Pistols there cuz I didn't want to watch them imploding ...but if I'd known THE NUNS AND AVENGERS WERE OPENING !?!? I'd have been with bells on !!!
🤘The Nuns🤘
Saw this tour at the Starwood in LA. Good Times!!!
God I love this Winterland footage. One of the best things on the yootoobs. I always keep coming back for more of this. This is how I want to ‘member the ‘tators.
Rest easy Top Ten.
DFFD in the PNW
The fros are strong with this one
Wow. This is great! Been listening since 'Go Girl Crazy' (thanks CREEM) but never saw them live.
I knew H.D.'s cousin. We tried to put a band together way back in the 80's when I lived in NYC. I saw one of H.D.'s later bands at CBGB's around 1988 & went to the show w that cousin. Kinda cool. Pete Essenfield, if you ever see this comment, let me know. I tried to find you on Facebook when I found some recordings of our band that sounded kinda decent. Unfortunately, I lost the tapes while moving to a new town. Sorry I lost the recordings, but I'd still like to hear from ya.
Power to The Dictators
FUCK yeah
Who's the surprise 3rd guitarist !?!?
Andy Shernoff ?
Adny! 🤪
Who I want to screw I screwwwww 🎸🎸🎸
Yikes - early 'Tators on video!
Very awesome indeed.
But I can see why they never made it; don't get me wrong, I love these guys, and I've heard some of the new album and it is good.
But this comes off like B Level Blue Oyster Cult, for many reasons, and Albert Bouchard is now in the Dictators to enforce that link.
Mendoza went on to "make it" the biggest, without really changing his style - OK, he did put on makeup - over Shernoff who wrote their best songs.
Funny how things turn out, ain't it?
Is that a "Search and Destroy" video I see up next?
White Afro hair-do Hell lolol
Can someone please tell me which band ripped this opening riff off??? Ive heard it before from a more commercial band.
Turbonegro? Maybe Hellacopters?
Spinal Tap?
Girl School
Well, Twisted Sister's "Shoot 'Em Down" has a VERY similar one. And their future bass player is in this footage, so...
Sounds a lot like the opening of AC/DC Dirty Deed Done Dirt Cheap which came out in 1976. This song came out in 1975.
