While watching this trial, I have felt so bad for Maya and her family.
BUT… Subsequent to the $$ JUDGEMENT $$, I no longer feel as sad.
MAYA is single-handedly CHANGING THE SYSTEM!!
I have Ankylosing Spondylitis, an autoimmune disease which causes the spine and joints to “fuse” together along with so many other physical conditions.
It’s slightly below CRPS on the MaGill Pain Assay.
I’m 58 and haven’t had a day without excruciating pain that can’t be helped, even with the strongest narcotic pain meds, in over 30 years now.
Initially, prior to the “HunchBack” and twisted spine appearance I now have, people would often question the pain I was experiencing. Without my incredible and lovely Bride of nearly 30 years and my family, I have no idea how I could have made it this far. ❤
The huge battle now, every 30 days…. The BATTLE for opiate pain medication in the time of the “Opiod Crisis”.
When I stand for the first time each day, my Si joint / hips actually “break”, with a cracking sound that can be heard down the block.
      Yet… it’s always a struggle.
There are zero pain management docs nearby that will still prescribe pain medication now.
And… after the 2 hour drive (lying on a pile of blankets in vehicle, basically unrestrained) to see the doc each month, it’s then a struggle to find a pharmacy that will actually have the drugs in stock. None of the pharmacies within 20 mikes carry morphine ER and oxycodone solution liquid. None will order it In either.
But… THE BORDERS REMAIN WIDE OPEN FOR THE FENTANYL TRAIN STEAMING THROUGH..!
      😠

yeah, they’re such scum bags. I was telling my husband I don’t know how they sleep in their garden or a dumpster at night with the things they’ve done to this little girl the defense completely came off cold I don’t think it was a good luck for the jury. They came off cold. They came off like liars like they would say anything to get them out of this mess and usually exhibits don’t go down like this. I mean if you watch them it takes hours each morning, because the defense wants to reject every single one, and it’s unbelievable usually at trials a judge says well OK this is coming in. There’s usually not a fight like this unless they’re dirty they’re so dirty that they have no choice but to try to get it taken off the trial

I think it’s not necessarily uncommon to see pictures and or videos of a person who is claiming pain but looks good. I know of situations in which people have been followed by some insurance companies so they can stop payment. It’s a real thing. It angers me because I suffer from horrible chronic pain in my back (Ankylosing Spondylosis, multiple failed back surgeries & procedures (12 to be exact) & fibromyalgia) I can’t walk, stand or sit for long periods of time. I often do grocery pick ups because it is just too much for me to walk through the entire grocery store. I’m not overweight but refuse to use one of the disabled “carts” because many ppl are so critical in my area & I know would make snide remarks if I was to use one, since I look ok on the outside. I have been confronted MANY times for parking in handicap parking spots even though I have a handicap placard. Just because someone cannot “see” my pain, they have no idea the hell I live in daily! This all started for me at 34 years old. I’m now 51 & It only gets worse as I get older.

I’m a mother of 2, i have a really big family and I’m aware that sometimes kids can have needs but not the tools to express themselves or ask accordingly… In this case with Maya what I see is a girl who wanted her mom’s attention and a very troubled mom that provided an extreme amount of care for her daughter (MBP) and a hospital that saw the dangers and red flags in that family…

So, I’ve never experienced chronic pain.. BUT. In my second pregnancy the first stage of labour took a long time. Started in the morning, but we didn’t go in to the hospital until around 11pm.
The contractions hurt and just kept hurting with the pain very slowly increasing, but the timing was still irregular and relatively infrequent.
After some hours of this my husband told me it was probably more braxtons hicks (I had mistaken them for the start of labour a week prior). I said, no, this is different, these contractions aren’t just uncomfortable, they HURT.
That evening we hopped into bed to try to sleep as the contractions *still* weren’t coming quickly enough to go to the hospital. I was dubious about getting to sleep with so much pain but I was determined to at least rest knowing birth was relatively imminent.
Shock, I never did sleep. At one point the pain finally became so much that I shook my husband up and said, “that’s it, I don’t care if it’s too early, we’re going in for pain management, I can’t take it at this point.”
He looked at me with total confusion and said something like “it hurts more now?? But earlier you were really wincing and knocking your fist on the wall and you’ve stopped doing that”
I was like “So??? It’s been going on for HOURS. Tensing up my body and face doesn’t help the pain it’s just a reflex that actually makes me more tired, I’ve learned to just relax through the pain now, but I’m telling you the pain is now worse, I can’t endure it, I need to go to the hospital NOW.”
That was around 11pm. We went. I got some gas and later an epidural. I was finally able to really rest. The baby was born before dawn.
People do not always SHOW when they are in pain, especially if the pain is ongoing.

Plaintiff themselves posted videos of Maya arguably having even more fun, like jumping in the pool, when she doesn't have a CRPS flare up. Considering that (1) she never claimed that she never tries to have fun; (2) she has testified many times that there are periods where she's better and where she's worse; (3) it's a medical fact that she had very bad episodes, like in 2020, where she had to be hospitalized and has nearly died because she couldn't eat and had to have a feeding tube to survive that period, I don't understand what was supposed to be so scandalous about 2 photos of her attending two social events, especially recently, when it's very clear she can attend the court when needed.

Comment warriors: Please stop and think, have you EVER gone to work with nausea? Gone grocery shopping with a headache? Felt a little off and still gone out for supper or a get together with friends?
Have you felt down, unwell for any reason and taken pictures with family or friends at a gathering?
Everyone has! So this idea that Maya is lying, or isn’t in pain because she took a picture and committed the mortal sin of smiling… is an absolute lie and every human on the face of the earth knows this!
Please take a seat and ask yourselves why you feel the need to deny someone their lived experience?Chronic conditions and chronic pain mean that people function at a baseline where they generally do not feel optimal even on their best day. When having a day that is better than others, we push ourselves, and often we pay the price for it.
So before grandstanding about Mayas decorum and whether she is in pain or not, ask why it matters and examine your actions in your life, if you’re perfect then I will sit down and cede ground to your superiority.

Anderson is saying she's sick at home with lesions because of the stress of the trial. The Kowalskis are contending that she is no longer "a freight train heading to college." They want JHACH to foot the bill for her continued treatment on top of predicted lost future earnings. I think part of the future medical expenses had a couple million in ketamine factored in there. This kid can't go the length of a trial without being a normal teenager out there living her life. Which is great, but it's not what they're presenting to the jury. She goes to parties, competes in figure skating, goes on vacations with friends. She is not a traumatized, sick child forever stuck in home because of her hospital experience. She leads a fuller, more privileged, and active life than most teens her age.

Do you understand the concept of Punitive Damages? Those are monetary damages issued to deter the Defendant from repeating the behavior in question ever again. Her present status is not the issue! Wrongful Death, False Imprisonment, Malpractice, Falsely Billing Maya's Insurance Company for treatment of a condition they claimed she did not have.
Perhaps you should look into The Lawyer You Know's videos about this case. Maya's case is just the tip of the iceberg.

Cant believe Court TV's focus is on Maya's social life when we have often been told that her pain waxes and wains. Meanwhile, Court TV is mainly ignoring a HUGE issue facing the defense: the real possiblity that the hospital was, at the time Maya was there, having significant, widespread managment and safety issues. According to the plaintiff, the hospital nearly lost its accreditation. That's crazy!! Why are we not hearing more about this from Court TV?

I hope the jury can imagine, how they would feel, if they have a daughter, sister, niece and against their will, had their clothes taken off. Bedy thought she could do whatever she chose to do, taking advantage of a young girl, a young girl who suffered a lot of pain, who was too weak to fight back, to keep her clothes on. The bedside nurse, said, Bedy stayed in the room, when she was changing Maya for court. The nurse said, she covers the patient with a blanket, finds a place to take her and only she and the patient are in the room in order to give her privacy, however, Bedy stayed. one of the things I find fascinating.. isn't what the hospital did.....
it's all the things the hospital didn't do.
I am not a medical doctor.
    I created my own college.
Yet, suppose I were a medical doctor and suppose that I had a patient I thought were being abused.
Now.. she tells me she is in pain. Ok.. how much pain are you in, on a scale of 1 to 10? she says "a 6"...
very well, I will prescribe a pain killer for you...
My point here, not being, is she in pain or not.. but I want to be very careful.. as I think she'd been abused.. i want her to start trusting herself. She can't believe in her.. if I, an adult, am bashing her all to pieces.
how often this hospital went out of its way to bash her all to pieces on top of this.
Why would you want to estrange said patient... if you thought she were being abused... wouldn't walking into a room, dominating an abuse victim, be like the last thing a medical doctor would want to do? If the abusers beat the abused into submission, why is the hospital and her staff, trying out out beat the abuser?
I wonder if she had had a cell phone on her..... taking videos every time someone walked in the door, if that phone would have survived.
if it had.. I wonder how many other charges would have come forth?

The people who worked for this hospital were people who had put in incredible TIME AND MONEY, years of their lives, training to take care of seriously ill children. These people are motivated to lie, harm, disable children, or damage their families??? Do you understand that these are people who have trained for years to try to help children???? THEY HAD NO MOTIVE to HARM MAYA OR HER FAMILY. They were acting as COURT MANDATED REPORTERS to report suspicions they had regarding possible child abuse, which clearly existed with Maya, as many of her providers doubted her diagnosis, and were very uncomfortable with the treatment her parents were relentlessly pushing for. THESE PEOPLE WERE NEVER SEEKING TO DESTROY THIS FAMILY. THESE PROFESSIONALS WERE INSTEAD PUTTING THEMSELVES ON THE LINE, TRYING, IN THEIR VIEW, TO PROTECT THIS CHILD. Get down off of your armchair high horses and think critically for a second. Why would all these good people who have spent their careers trying to care for gravely ill children and their families suddenly change into soul sucking, incompetent, evil beasts when it came to Maya and her family? There was NO MALICE. I'm not God. Were they right, or not? Who knows. It's very muddy whether she ever even had this syndrome or not. Reasonable people, highly trained medical professionals, can even obviously disagree. It's all clear as mud. But understand, these professionals are working in incredibly difficult circumstances, trying to do their best for their patients and families!!! Don't believe that? Then keep your children at home and employ your crystals, and voodoo cards the next time they develop an infection, or horrible pain syndrome, and spare us all, especially your children's MEDICAL providers, your obviously supreme sense of all knowing sense of self righteousness. EVERYONE LOST THE DAY6 BEATA CHOSE TO TAKE HER LIFE, INCLUDING ALL THESE PROFESSIONALS WHO WAKE UP EARLY AND STAY LATE, giving up precious time with their own families in order to better serve other children and their families because they are dedicated to the children they care for day in, and day out. The EASY PATH, would have been to do whatever the Kowalski's wanted them to do. Less documentation. Less litigation. Less NOISE. Did they do that? NO! They took the hard route. The route THEY felt was best for a child viewed as vulnerable, and likely a victim of child abuse. But you know better, right? Nail them to the wall, right? And then complain, COMPLAIN, MOAN, and scream, when NO ONE WILL ADMIT YOUR CHILD TO THE HOSPITAL for uncontrolled, inexplicable pain because the risk of litigation is too high. I wouldn't touch your kid with a 10 foot pole, but then they are better people than me.

Wait wait wait wait wait hold on a moment, I see these photos multiple times, but I just realized, since she changed bras, that means that those women were in the room helping her or forcing her to change her bra so they saw her nipples?
Are we 100% sure no pictures were taken during that time? And that the pictures were just removed from the set early on?
Were all the serial numbers sequential for the photos that are inevitance? What the h*** were they doing taking her bra off like I understand taking off that color bra and putting on a white bra before a court, but with a camera in the room?

Poor girl. I can only imagine how she must have felt during her time in the hospital. As a child I was in an hospital for surgery on my eyes. I was blindfolded an I was in a room with a very old lady, which was more dead than alive. I could only hear her heavy breathing, she did not speak to me at all. I was sooo scared. No radio, no TV, no book, no visits. My parents were only allowed to step by for a few hours in the afternoon. I was all alone and to my knowledge I was then even younger then Maya. And the nurses were nuns without any empathy😢. This was approx. 50 years ago and I still remember it all too well. But I cannot compare my pain then, with the pain this poor child must have felt. It's a disgrace! I wish her all the best for her future and for all the other (bad) people involved ...may they burn in hell.

There are two photos of her that don't look that old where she is clearly wearing gold chain necklaces. They are definitely not silver. I wish the defense would have submitted those as evidence, That way, he could have ended his cross of her showing those photos and asking her, "Didn't you say that you don't wear gold jewelry due to PTSD from Cathy Bedy?" It would have been a great way to end on an impeachment of her previous testimony!

CourtTv more concerned about photographs rather than the report that JHACH was in jeopardy of losing certification because, among other things doctors/nurses stopped washing their hands.
Remember folks Beata had to tell the nurse to flush her pic line. Which hadn’t been flushed in accordance with standards.
Read the first 3 paragraphs in the 2019 report, this hospital should be bankrupted, sally Smith Kathy Bedy and the rest of the 7th floor coven should never be allowed near children.

I see a very angry girl. I see a girl flooded with guilt that her cries for attention that lead them down this path ended this way. She has to blame everyone but herself or her mother. Disrobing? When you are in the hospital as much as Maya, and supposedly in this much pain... to say the photos were one of the most traumatized events her if life is a stretch. I see in her the over exaggerating. I see in her an attempt at directing the jurors by reminding them of how she is not lying but everyone else is. And now she doesn't remember because of steroids. Everyone is lying but Maya and her family. An NG tube hurts, I know this! This is crazy. There are TRUE medical accidents and deaths that deserve this amount of coverage and money for lawyers. If this was never on Netflix everyone would be clueless and not care. Maya is protecting her mother by sticking to the story.
