Loved his dad - now love him... born in '47 - loving this song in 2024. Just found the CD and ordered it. I remember when this song came out - haven't heard in a very long time. Since I found it, I have listened to it at least twice daily. Hope he is doing well and knows we still listen!
My buddy Larry Staffen and I were there with Rocky at this taping. I was friends with Rocky in the 70s and 80s. I lost track of him. I hope he is fairing well. A great talent, from a legendary music family. Timing is everything and the 70s and 80s were saturated with "artists" some good, and some well... lucky. I am glad Rocky had his moment in the sun. His music is fun for sure!
Remember hearing it back in 1980 and up till now thought this was sung by Jeff Lynne and ELO. Only found out today from a radio DJ it was Rocky Burnette. Great and catchy song! 😎
THE SON OF THE ROCK & ROLL Baby, I'm tired of toeing the line. Don't know why you want to jump on me, Baby, baby, baby, and make-a me cry. Baby, I, I'm gonna find myself someone new, Someone who will be true, But no more toeing the line. I know it's o-ooh-over, cause I've seen the signs. Don't let me waste your precious time. Baby, I'm tired of toeing the line. If you want to get uh-rid of me, Baby, baby, baby, you're doin' fine. Baby, I'm tired of toeing the line. I'm gonna put on my walkin' shoes And leave you far behind. You're rolling over in clover so refined, But you can't fix this broken heart of mine. Baby, I'm tired of toeing the line. Don't know why you want to jump on me, Baby, baby, baby, and make-a me cry. Baby, I'm tired of toeing the line. Don't know why you want to jump on me, Baby, baby, baby, and make-a me cry. Baby, I'm tired of toeing the line. Baby, I'm tired of toeing the line. Baby, I'm tired of toeing the line. Baby, I'm tired of toeing the line.
Thanks a lot "The Black 1960", I have been looking for this wonderful song for more than thirty years!...I remember I was a child and I listened to this song on the radio...Thanks again!...
In 1981, I was studying my last year at High school back in Mexico city. Three boys and one girl Gaby, rowing at Aragon's lake. The four of us, in a small boat, great memories are recalled by this tune!!
@cageomatic777 Thanks. I've always loved this crazy song. Everything about it is good the horn parts are are huge. I'll try to find the vid that shows the horn section.

I remember hearing this while in Baltimore in the summer 1980(14 years old) I heard the last part of the song while my sister was changing station on the car radio. The guitar caught my attention. Then in the fall of that year I saw him sing it on Solid Gold (Oct). heard it two years later (over mall radio) then never heard it again until 1996, saw music. Pissed that I cannot find this version the one I tunes has sounds like he I on dope and the music (heavy guitar) is missing.
I heard this version for the first time while I was in Austria in 1980 , it was in all the jukebox's and played in the night clubs I was 19 , I fell in love with this song and time hasn't waned my love for it. a smash hit all over Europe. When I got back to Ireland I got a copy ! The dumbed down version you've heard is the demo version of which Spotify brings up not the single .version. Shakin Stevens covers a decent cover of it.
Steve Lukhater , TOM SHOLDS ,Lincey Bokingham ,ect ect.
Johnny Burnette's kid. Apple didn't fall far from the tree. Great sound, great words....
Makes me want to forget 2021 and go back to the 1980’s “ I want my M T V ! ! ! “ Happy 68th birthday Rocky!

Always loved this! But none of the videos I've seen ever show the horn section I think there's a baritone sax and a trombone.
Tina Herald not sure about the sax, but definitely a trombone
There are some videos that show the trombone player. ♡ T.E.N.

Tired Of The Line Toein
Baby eu sou
Baby eu
Eu vou encontrar alguém novo para mim
Alguém que será verdadeiro
Eu não estou mais na linha
Eu sei que acabou, causa
Eu vejo os sinais
Não me deixe desperdiçar seu precioso tempo
Baby eu sou
Cansado de seguir a linha
Se você quer se livrar de mim
Baby, baby, baby, você está bem
Baby eu sou
Tired Of Toein' The Line

He got his talent from his daddy Johnny burnette .I can see the influence.
