    Aja Wilson did not misspeak. She spoke her mind. Everything someone thinks doesn't need to be said. If you're fortunate enough to become a professional athlete, enjoy it. The extra benefits are just that, extra. These player ( speaking black now are extremely entitled). It's never enough. Dr.J, MJ, Magic, Bird and a few others are universally loved. Isn’t Aja’s dad CEO of a consulting firm? Maybe she should see about a family discount. To me Aja seems to play the race card, whenever she speaks. When CC got her shoe deal, Aja led us to believe she didn’t have one. Did Paige get recruited to UConn because of her privilege? Did CC get her college and WNBA records because of her privilege? I don’t understand how so many people can blame CC for the racism throughout the fan base and league, when she hasn’t said ANYTHING controversial to the media. I also don’t understand why the league would want Aja as the face of the league when she’s so unlikeable. If the league wants a WOC, fine, no problem, but why not someone like Napheesa Collier, like Aja, she is a helluva baller and I have yet to hear anything bad about her. I may be wrong but Aja seems like a me player more than a team player.

How may of us went to private school? How many of us are 6’4 and earning over $200 k per year only having to work 6 months in that year! This is the example of PERSONIFIED. PLUM and PAGE earned what they received. No one owes her anything. Caitlin earned her shine because of hard work and skills. Wilson acts hurt more companies don’t endorse her and other blacks? Listen to what nonsense comes out of her mouth? Who wants to loose millions of dollars branding anyone who alienates the very market they intend to sell product? Look at how these folk dress. Most people in America, regardless of race or gender, never had the kind of money put into their education that Ms Wilson was privileged to experience. She also appeared to have health and dental care throughout her life, the love of her parents and family, and enough positive feedback to have the self-esteem to feel comfortable expressing herself without inhibition. She likely had private coaching to hone her basketball skills. I'd bet most W players haven't had all the advantages Ms. Wilson grew up with.

    Well articulated, can't say it enough, majority of people just appreciate a generational talent. Anyone who denies that CC is not is just a plain hater, I can see when JuJu joins the league how much she will be elevated, celebrated, as she is a very talented player based on her freshman year. Embrace what CC brings and the promising future of the league in Paige and Juju and it just benefits everyone involved. People are not blind and when people see how CC has been targeted with no repercussions, all who has seen it regardless of the color of their skin seems to understand the injustice of it all. LBJ, Curry, and lots of NBA superstar don't seem to see the color of CC's skin, seems to me greatness recognizes greatness.

    • @smoakdavis4511
      @smoakdavis4511 Місяць тому +1

      Greatness does recognize greatness - when they're not influenced/led astray by factors outside of basketball. NBA superstars don't scrutinize their players in that way, that's why they are seen as a professional league. That's why they're able to give credit to a generational talent - they're not superficial and understand full credit needs to be given to a player like that to elevate a league (seize an opportunity when it happens).

    Caitlin Clark is the real deal and is even making the league better because the rest of the league is even adding some "hot sauce" by upping their game. They see how much people are now paying attention to the W(WE)NBA so they're really trying to shine even more.

In the ‘1619 Project’ Nikole Hannah-Jones really spells out the historical impacts of racism. I think these books and many others should be required reading for all high school age students. Some incredible people have already articulated these conditions to perfection. I am an older white man, I know I can’t walk in the shoes of black people and know their experience. All I can do is educate myself and stand beside them as an ally in the struggle. A’ja does need to be able to have some privacy, who was taking that video? In regards to Aja not wanting to play in Indiana, is it possible that the Gainbridge field house could be the equivalent of LSU’s “Death Valley” in football? After all what state is more known for basketball than Indiana?

    There are many reasons why someone have more fans than others. Just look at all the so-called influencers in social media. It could be their contents, it could be their personality, it could be their looks, it could be their talents and so on and so forth.... the most we can do is try to reach our God given potential.

    All athletes have to work very hard, and sacrifice much to strive for and achieve greatness. Nobody should be minimizing that, especially not for superficial reasons beyond their control. The NBA has it right - recognize greatness appropriately (you can recognize greatness in more than 1 player at a time). That's how you elevate a league successfully. Doing the opposite, especially with a generational talent - has the opposite effect if the league allows it to keep happening. I'm imagining if MJ, Magic, Bird, LeBron, Curry were held back, would the NBA have grown as exponentially and explosively as it did? Probably not. I agree with you, they need to take a look within and determine if they really want the league to be hugely successful, or if massaging certain egos is more important than anything else.

    One of my biggest turn offs is the sense of entitlement players have with the fans. We all want others to admire us for what we think is our best work product. The hardest part is learning to accept the choices fans make. The facts are we all know how hard it is to make people choose and admire the choices we choose and hope it is the same choice. I hope I said that right, but we are all really diverse in our likes and dislikes, but we can't act like we deserve to be someone's choice because we try hard or work on our day off. I think CC22 works on the smallest of things. Her biggest talent is including everyone and making the whole team the reason for winning!

  • @KeithNeue
    @KeithNeue Місяць тому

    Don't you think when the narrative around any WNBA player steps away from their abilities with their team on the floor the focus needs to be about basketball talent only. Race, verbal shortcomings, what dress you wear before the game does not matter. All that matters is what happens when the ball goes up during a game. We all should put our focus on the game not Twitter chat. It is enough to go over the stat sheet and compare different tact's during the game. After we should count the amount of young female fans admiringly seeking players signatures in hope of becoming future WNBA hopeful stars.

    Wilson is saying that Clark has white privilege.
    Yet Wilson went to a high school that cost twenty thousand dollars, $20,000 a year.
    WILSON comes from a rich background. If anyone had privilege it is Wilson.
    These divisions of color, money, hair color, neighborhood, etc., i pushed on us by our elite leaders and extremely wealthy banking families, which all rule our world.
    This is craziness.
    Love your neighbor as yourself.The bible says.
    Or more simply, the Love you withhold is the Pain you will carry.
    Our decisions, will be to choose Love or to choose Hate.
    When we withhold Love, we create a Pain for ourselves.
    Don't buy in to the craziness.
    We are one humanity.
    Peace & Love.
    Bless you.

    Paige to me gave that added on speech to submit herself to the black players who are pushing this agenda to white players. She doesn’t want to get beat up like CC did. A’ja thinks she is the WNBA Queen. A’ja acts like a privileged person, oh wait! she is. Notice how the Ace players and the coach glorify A’ja only during post game conf. every time. She loves her head filled with how wonderful she is and the best player in the world. This is the reason I am not a fan of hers.

    Don’t like her and the fact that she is the first unanimous pick for MVP and didn’t even make the finals show that it wasn’t earned and only given due to bullying…should have been Naphessa…especially if they didn’t want to give it to CC for basically having the same rookie season like Bird and even Candace making her truly with her records, wins and how she effectively made her own teammates better makes her truly the most valuable player to the league.
    Also Aja is basically the Kareem of the WNBA. He was the best player but his personality didn’t allow for him to be the star that when Magic and Bird came in allow them to be and turn the NBA into what it has become…Aja will just be one of the best players that will remain in the background but if she keeps saying and doing as she does she will end up the most hated.
    Even Angel if she doesn’t up her basketball game to get better and stop with the 304 antics and trying to be more of a instagram influencer/model…the way she been acting the only fans route at this point she too as time goes on and the next generation comes in such as Paige, Fla’jae, Juju, etc. will leave her as well as another role player but not the main cast at this rate…makes me wonder as well with the way they have blamed and hated on CC this season how they are going to treat Paige next season because she is more then likely going to be the #1 pick and if she isn’t given the same treatment it will only confirm everything that people have said were the reason why CV was treated as she has been and still being treated…
    Funny how she is the problem but you have Bryanna and Naphessa after they too were blaming her and her fans, even liking a tweet that a fan posted to keep her away from Unrivaled…now are pushing to have her join especially the sponsors…how it goes for unrivaled is going to all but give everyone the full truth about if it’s CC or Angel that caused what took place this year when if the fans turn up or not and if the negativity continues or not…because CC all but said her game isn’t 3x3 and is going to play golf instead in England.

    You talked about white privilege as though it is a known entity! In the world I live in as a mature white male who maybe sees the world from another prospective. I grew up in Southern CA around a diverse group of colors. What I observed was whenever people of color made an effort to comingle their talents with everyone showing a caring pleasant demeaner, every white person I knew including myself would go out of their way to be inclusive and uplifting in any way that would promote better helpful interactions between all races involved. I don't mean to make that sound condescending, but it seemed like the majority of the people I know all wanted better group and color melding rather than the divisive separation we have now! I hope what I am trying to say come through! Seems like the only people who want divisiveness are black people that act like white people are the problem and we just want to help!

    No one is privileged. People work for what they have. Aja went to private schools her family had money, so what is she talking about? People need to realize that others don't get things handed to them you need to work for what you want. These players worked hard to get to where they are. Race should never be never come between skills and dominance. Sorry but this sounds racists.
