Ryan, be sure to enjoy every minute you get to have your father with you. He will be gone way before your ready to let him go. What a great opportunity to spend quality time together making memories that will last you a lifetime. What a beautiful paradise you guys are making together. How is Vons neck doing? Did it relieve her pain? I sure hope so. I understand what living in chronic pain is like.
Wow, we cannot believe you came up with such a great way to get that through the pipe. You and your dad, what a Team! Thanks again for sharing such a great tip.
Looking great! I’m watching the vids sequentially; can’t wait to see where you are today!! Kinda shocked you don’t wear eye protection when sawing and nail-gunning, tho. 🤕 My Dad, retired USAF, cabinet maker and wooden boat builder (built his first sailboat with his dad at age 13) taught us kids the importance of eye protection from a young age…. He damn near lost an eye once when a piece of metal he was cutting sent a shard straight into his eyeball. CUE EXCRUCIATING PAIN and a trip to the ER. Not that he could drive himself, either. 😬
I’m the first to admit I fail miserably at the safety end of things. I’ve always found wearing eye protection annoying when it dogs of us so scratched you can’t see through it. I need to be better for sure. Thanks for watching, hopefully we can get to building this year soon.
Looking good. That’s some rocky soil. It’s a true blessing your father gets to be there to help. Pretty cool! You guys stay safe this next week. Thanks for sharing.
@@wildwoodoffgridalaska we have been busy planting gardens, mowing and getting honeybees around. We now have 24 hives and I hope to do some splits in a few soon. We have about 500 meat chickens (Freedom Ranger) that we have in chicken tractors for pasture feeding. I will be butchering part of them in the next couple of weeks. We will finally get to see how good the scalder and plucker work we bought. Always plenty to do. Lol.
That looks like old river rock, have tried to pan a little for gold? That would be cool if you found some it over $1800 a oz today 😎. I am really enjoying your channel
Good morning to you Von,it's nice to see you out and about. You look great and I know you must be feeling better. Still saying prayers for your recovery. Happy to see the work the guys are doing. Hope y'all have a great day.
Thank you so much Carolyn 🙏 I have been feeling better with every day 😊 I definitely have limitations to what I can do, but I was just cleared to start physical therapy, so hopefully, I’ll be up and back to my wild ways by the end of summer 😁
Your channel and videos are very refreshing to watch. I love seeing you and your family work together. You and your wife have wonderful personalities. Thanks 😊
Better not sass talk your dad😂 You and your dad are getting some serious work done. Great job and kudos to dad for kicking As and not letting them mosquitoes intimidate him. Also nice to see Von back in action.
I missed the water video, I will catch that one after work Friday. You made great work out of that floor! Your dad is not afraid to get right in there too! Great job!!
I like your videos, I worked & lived in Tok 2019 & 1st 3 months of 20. Saw a truck with your UA-cam logo today in Glennallen. I was behind truck at espresso stand. Thinking of doing a DIY cabin down this way.
@@wildwoodoffgridalaska Sage travels. I discovered your video’s one evening I was looking for ideas on septic cribs. As I’m watching video , I’m thinking that looks like Tok area. Then I read or you said about the ground in Tok . When I was there I stayed at Sourdough camp ground, when winter set in I rented house on campground from Tim & Tracy. Love that area, but job was over. Good luck ! I will continue enjoying and learning from your videos!
Viewing from NZ i just love your combination of action and narrative during this home build experience. You will look back later at this Golden time spent with your pa and cherish it.......so do not wear him out and don't forget to comply with - beer o clock.
That generator building stand pipe a sweep or a ninety degree? It will be a bear pulling cable if it is ninety degree. Easy to change now. Seeing you build makes we want to come and help. That sky is blue when you were drilling plate! That was easy! Did you have 90 degrees in?
Cable pulled easily into the pipe. I installed a long sweep 90 to make it easier. It’s been hit and miss with weather. Some nice days but a lot of rain and cooler temps this spring. Things should start warming up soon.
@@wildwoodoffgridalaska it sure did. I was surprised how easily you got the string through. I’ll remember that one. Your Dad reminds me of a Montanan I used to know who lived on the Big Hole River. I should binge watch your Vlogs to catch up. Are you from Alaska? Project is coming along nice.
Hey there buddy how are ? Looks like the build is going great!! Sure is nice to have your Pop there to build with ya. Some day you can talk about how great it was to work with building the house, that is when yer an old fart hehehe. Man I wish I lived closer I would love to come bend some nails and make some sawdust with ya. Cant wait to see the next video. God bless you and yours!!
Hello from Van Buren Arkansas looking good looking forward to seeing more progress and I didn't pay attention to what was up above LOL work hard and stay safe
Well done on the hard work! Your work ethic and dedication awesome to look up too! Btw! My wife and I are actually on our way right now, moving to Anchorage! We will be driving through Tok, so it will be cool to see the sights in person!
Man that was some good work fellas. Are those floor joists an engineered I-beam that handles that large of a span? Just curious as to the material strength specs if you have them, might be a good thing to share. Enjoyed watching this.....hows the finger?
They are 11 7/8” TJI engineered I-joists that are rated to span 16.9ft. The limited span is the reason for the center support wall. They’re lighter and straighter then traditional lumber and make laying the floor square an easy task😊
New subscriber here and enjoy the videos and the beauty of alaska!I might have missed the video about your decision to build on this land or the 30 acres, did you sell it or still have it?Thanks and stay safe!
The pony wall is to support the 30 ft span of the floor joists. We set the pressure tank on the footer as a convenience to have a flat surface to sit it on. 😊

Love seeing you work with your dad such a blessing.
Hello my friend, I congratulate you on this beautiful and wonderful work, and whoever is with you.🖐️👍👍🌹🌹🌹🇾🇪🇾🇪
What a great father to help you.
All that river type rock you dug up sure could come in handy for some landscaping down the road! Give it a good bath and call it good!
The video sound is pretty good, beyond my imagination
Wow!!! Are you sure your not a professional builder??? So awesome to see your wife there with you.
LOL, I’ve built a few things but definitely not a pro. 😁
I'll bet there's gold in that dirt!
Probably, but I don’t have time to look.
@@wildwoodoffgridalaska I hope all goes well with the building. Will u have to dry the lumber before building?
I’m going to air dry the house lumber but we’re going to build the generator building with green material.
Loving it - great progress. Been away for a few weeks so got to play catchup - soon them animals will become tucker 🙂
Awesome, thank you 😊

frame the walls with the double top plates while on the ground or floor is best!!
If the ground was flat I normally would but it was an awkward situation.😊
Looks like it's getting there. Good luck
Thank you😊

Well done you guys your smashing it 👏
Thanks Carol.😊
abs black glue works best for abs pipe!!
I used all purpose glue that was includes abs pipe.
Ryan why ABS pipe instead of PVC for your electrical? Loving the progress
It’s what was available. I wanted 3” pipe and could find conduit or pvc. It helps that the ABS was pretty cheap and will work fine this purpose.

I like the idea of panning for gold wouldn’t that be a grate thing
ok me being from Texas I'm confused about the subfloor/poneywall concept. does this prevent the water pump from freezing over?
The pony wall is to support the 30 ft span of the floor joists. We set the pressure tank on the footer as a convenience to have a flat surface to sit it on. 😊
Sorry but a animal that can survive -cold temperatures and the wild is smarter than you think. But anyways starting to look like a house.
They just aren’t road smart. 😁
