The barn moving thingy in the Philippines it was a tradition when moving houses especially when you're from province, if you're gonna move places people from the place you are moving in would help you and literally move your house by lifting it. The house was made from Bamboos and haybales, we called it "Kubo" which is like a small hut. They traditionally just lift it and move it, i still don't know if some provinces still do the tradition since its now all modern.
I like to imagine that there is a Santa society and when a grandpa goes and take their grandkids to the mall to meet "Santa" and grandpa just holds up his fist with the ring on it and the have a secret code word to get better presents for their grandkids
When I was 9 years old visiting my family in Veracruz,Mexico, my dad had actually caught a blue lobster but unfortunately the next morning we found it in pieces because my aunts German Shepherd ate it smh. I cried the whole day.
My dad or aunt had put the lobster in a sink with water in the backyard the night before so the next day in the morning when my aunt let the dog out to play in the backyard the dog got to it.

A family friend of ours has been the Santa at various children's cancer wards for going on 15 years now. He is one of the strongest, most resilient and caring people I have ever met. I know some myself as well but I think when you're a bit of a "jack of all trades", so to speak, you know even more than Doctors and nurses because all they specialize in is the medical field for the most part. Try and ask a Doctor or a nurse to build a house, a building, a driveway, or renovate and see how fast they pull out their checkbook to have it done for them lol.

We have that walking hut or sometimes larger wooden house in our country for century and we still practice it today in some rural areas. We call it "lalin" in visayan language and "bayanihan" in tagalog. After the job's done ,helping folks were offered coconut wine to quench their thirst. The moving barn isn't exclusively special to that region, it is widely known in the SEA region as a tradition to move literal big ass houses by people and not machines

Making the “it’s tradition” or “it’s my culture” excuse should not be considered a valid point when it comes to abusive behaviours. E.g. honour killings and female genital mutilation should not be considered tradition. Same goes for animal abuse. Humans are so stupid sometimes... Culture/tradition can not be an excuse for causing harm
