My only gripe is the massive reverb on the vocals. They get washed away sometimes in the mix. Especially when playing the new stuff in my car. Anyone else feel this way? Or no
@@hugopdrums704 Right but it's Naglfar doesn't usually do that, and they haven't for a very long time. Just because something is common in a genre doesn't mean everyone has to do it, nor that everyone that listens to it likes it.
Nic Lastname Naglfar isn't for everyone. They've always had some reverb on their albums and a bit more on this 1. They're from that 90's era of melodic black metal so expect that. Most importantly they record their music for themselves. They dont need to always sound like Pariah and Harvest which were okay albums but nothing compared to the first 3 with Jens Ryden on vocals.
Me either. In fact, 2003's Sheol was the last release of theirs I really liked with Diabolical and Vittra are my favourites. Kristoffer's vocals don't do it for me, and I think that's a big reason. Jens had so much more power and range.

It's intended for this locrian and phrygian riffs. Somewhat a riff structure used more common in this kind of metal. But yet is kinda pretty, I like to bother my family with this haha.

This band kills me seriously they keep going with little attention pumping out solid material on every album they dont get enough exposure but stick to their guns dont repeat themselves and should be in the same conversations as behemoth dimmu cradle etc. Because in my opinion they are better musicians than behemoth by a truck load didnt suck ass for 12 years like cradle did until the most recent 2 albums cradle sucked after cruelty and i am bummed out dimmu jumped as deep in a toilet as they could and still stink puritanical was their peak naglfar just keep punching us out like pro boxers thats admirable
@@petercrushingc Jens Ryden is talented no doubt but Kris is just as good imo! He also sang for Setherial for a couple albums and his work with them is amazing (his vocals are darker with them)!
The mixing is AWFUL, sincerely, worst drum sound I've heard in a while, if songwriting isn't the best then this mixing surely does not help in the slightest
