I understand this person completely, it took me 8 years to get my 2005 Ibiza cupra 20Vt to 490whp , with all upgrades included (motor, brakes, suspension, etc).
I love my car as I made it and will never give it up!

amazing, well done mate. yeah as you say so much work goes into these builds, they become more than just a car. im doing a leon 20VT build, can you briefly list the engine mods to get to 490? assume forged rods, turbo (holset?) etc, cheers

Busy with a forged engine, bought a setup worth of 320hp with a k418t. But want the engine to be bulletproof for a possible garrett in the future :)

But as a general list of what I have done:
Mahle forged pistons for 8.8 compression
Forged FSi crank shaft (2006 cc instead of 1781 stock)
Cat cams stage 3 camshafts ( maximum stage without loosing the VT function , rev limiter at 7800rpm
Custom intake 100m with Venturi effect (moved battery at the trunk)
Full 80mm exhaust (turbo back) catless with only a back box at the end
Custom Gt3071 turbo (equivalent of a Gt3071gtx)
Hot bits Dt2 suspension (modified after rebuild)
Wave track limited slip differential
Work Cr-Kai 17x8 with 215/40/17 Federal 595 rs-r semi slick
White line front and rear anti roll bars
Seat sport front strut and wiechers rear strut base
Vibra technics full engine and gear box mounts
This should cover you for engine and suspension, if you need advice for anything else, let me know

What’s really admirable and probably MENTAL for others to understand is that for the money spent on these upgrades, this guy could have bought something which is newer / nicer and holds its value. 90%+ of what he’s spent will never be recouped when it’s sold but that’s just not the point. Cudos to him for investing in his passion and producing something so unique and hilarious! 👍
Tallandcharming 30k for probably over 700bhp with the nos is pretty cheap though in the grand scheme of things. What a car 🚗 💨👌🏼
I don’t know man, I mean a e55 amg for £8-9k you can spend £2-3k and have 600bhp monster.
So I get the passion and I understand it becomes unique, but seriously I think people should limit there builds to when it becomes silly. The ford is sick no doubt, each to their own i guess.

J J agreed, what I am saying is that if you went out and spent the total sum of car and mods (regardless of what car you start out with), you’d have a car which to 99% of people out there is a “better” car. Modders like this chap and those who follow the channel are probably the 1%. I’d personally start with a different car to mod, maybe an RS3 personally but then that’s a lot more $’s, also that’s what makes modding so unique, different cars, different budgets and some amazing power outputs being achieved from modest motors. 👍

Well when big hp fwd cars spin thru 1-3 it usually means driveshafts / gearbox is gonna be fine, as soon as it starts gripping those "stock" drivetrain components start breaking

External wastegate is the technical term (:
@@OwainF Isn't the screamer pipe bolted on the wastegate ? Like you can have an external wastegate that'll redirect the gases back into the exhaust system via a connecting pipe, making less noise than if you eject them directly in the atmosphere like in this setup ?
@@Kaisuke971 Yup, you can place it where you like...up out of the bonnet, down towards the ground, or back into your downpipe for less noise. This is for turbo's without an internal wastegate system.
wrighty338 the standard turbo has a internal waste gate , but when changing to big turbo like in the vid you’d need a external wastegate set up , friend of mine is running 550 with syveccs and had it plumbed back into the exhaust system the pops are madness

Absolutle monster you cannot beat a 5pot sound !!! Thing is you can pick these up pretty cheap maybe 100k plus miles but the engines are bulletproof
GoonerTilliDie do your homework. These engines love to split cylinder liners. To make big power they need shims fitted between the liners. The first one I owned split the liners at 280bhp. The second one ran close to 400bhp but lesson was learned and the head came off and liners were shimmed before modding. 👍

Sorry to go against most of the comments but what an utter waste of time that car is.
The guy has spent years building this car to a point where it has far more power than it can handle,to where the owner admits he has no confidence in driving it,and secondly it can't put the power down as half the time it's being limited,so what is the point spending money to up the power and then having to spend even more money to limit that power,what so it can be used in 3rd gear and up,but only on a bone dry road and not with any bends,yet he is in the UK where there are bends everywhere and it is wet/damp for over half of the year.
Sounds to me like it was more fun and more usable to drive at 300bhp and the owner is just chasing numbers.Yet owning a performance car should be about the pleasure you get out of driving it and he doesn't sound like he does.
He would have been better off with something like that 600bhp evo from the other week,at least that was easy to drive and made the most of the power and they are rare to see on the roads,where Focus ST's are 10 a penny.
Owner seems a decent enough guy,think he should follow his dream and buy an Evo 9,I had one ( see my vids of it ) and it was a weapon at only 400bhp,that was partly due to its meantal handling and its ability to get off the line like a stabbed rat.They are easy and cheap to mod and they are real head turners wherever you go,which is a rare thing these days as most performance cars under £30k mark look well dull and are more suited to the office car park than the rally stages of Wales.
