Today I do the full review of the Pagani Design PD-1644 the Pagani Daytona. This is a homage to the Rolex Daytona with the panda dial. I'm not a fan of comparing a watch that costs less that the bezel insert on another watch. A sub $100 watch will act like a sub $100 watch.There will be QA issues. LOTS of them likely. That is built into the $3934 savings that you didn't have to spend on the PD. Sorry to "complain" but apples should not be compared to oranges. Doesn't mean anything. Compare it to a Cadisen or a Benyar...Just my 3 cents worth. Keep on Rocking!
But what if the apple is trying to impersonate an orange? Wouldn't it be logical to compare how close it gets?
This Pagani Panda looks 10 times more expensive and accurate than your Tudor 🤭🤭🤭

Man, you really REALLY got a lemon here. I haven’t seen this many issues with any other Pagani Daytona watch reviews. As a matter of fact, 95% of these issues have been corrected with the 2021 version of this watch. Pagani lately, have listened to its customer base, and made the needed corrections. Now, this watch is one of their best buys, in my opinion. A lemon like yours will slip through on occasion, since their QC hasn’t always been the best, but it seems they’ve stepped it up in the last six months. I think people need to be aware that some of these issues may still occasionally happen, but this is not the case with the majority of the watches that are purchased. It sucks you got such a bad version. My suggestion, buy another one, but get the latest 2021 version, and then do a comparison with the two Daytonas, on the improvements that Pagani has made to this watch in the last six months. That would be a greatly informative follow up video to this one. Especially for the people who really want to buy this watch.👌🏽
The things do with with the bracelet will work out after using. For the quality of the watch and price, you gotta expect the bracelet will be somewhat shit. But even then, the bracelet is so good compared to other watches at its price.
Just to add to this, i bought my dad one. And the amount of people asking him is it a daytona and complimenting it is astounding.
My Pagani design is so accurate, and silky, smooth, with no issues at all and outstanding value for money👌

That watch is filthy, I can see the dirt on the crown and the bottom pusher. That's why the crown is so bad and the bottom pusher sticks, there's dirt in there. If it were mine I'd pull it apart and clean it, if you break it it doesn't matter.
But to be fair, you MIGHT have to use the crown once a month (not a 31 day month), does it really matter? Not a lot.
Yeah, you can make the chrono hand not flick right back on mine as well, by pushing the return pusher really softly, you press it firmly and it's fine. How many times have I actually really used the chrono? Zero, so does it matter? No.
The crown not quite flat? a; I'm not convinced as (on mine) there is a slight "gutter" for want of a better word between the crystal and the bezel so the water will always stick there in all directions and as you need it under a macro lens to see it, does it matter? No.
The tiny bits of metal on the underside of the watch and the imperfect finishing on the end links (that you need a macro lens to see)? Never looked, never cared, again, does it matter? No.
The stiff link will ease with about 5 mins wiggling and if it doesn't, take it apart and run a nail file along the surfaces that are binding. I made a spare link I bought (8.5" wrists) fit and it didn't fit at all by doing that in about 10 minutes.
My bracelet is wobbly too, but it's not a problem, as you showed, it clicks in anyway, that bit was quite amusing, you were trying to show it didn't close and it did. As for the extension, IIRC mine used to be stiff, it's not any more and at least it's got some on the fly adjustability,....Tudor!
So, in conclusion, is it Tudor quality, no, it's not the quality of my Submariner either, but it's ok, I wear it regularly and I'd say it gets as many looks in the street as my Starbucks Sub does.
You got a bad one bro, I got the black dial, it’s so nice I just ordered the white dial one yesterday. My pushers and crown are like butter. Alignment is awesome and the finish is outstanding. Only issue I have is that it makes me not want to wear my pagani design hulk! And also that my Invicta pro diver is far inferior in quality.
Yeah a lot of people tell me that theirs are good to go. I think I got the mother of all bad ones.
Thanks for the review, ---you have exactly the same quality issues as the watch i received----the reseller said known and common issues, was happy to refund but had to send the watch back first, decided to keep it as a knock around watch (but damn good looking watch) shame of the quality issues
A rare, honest review of a Pagani. Thank you. I've owned a few of the Pagani's and they don't live up to the hype of a handful of UA-cam reviewers that I've watched. They are 50-100 dollar homages. They are roughly made. You aren't getting more than you paid for. It's just a fun impulse buy.
I just purchased mine from the Amazon Pagani store 2 weeks ago. I know this is a 3 year old video. I saw on mine Pagani has fixed most if not all the problems with the earlier ones . It is now mush that before. I did read the amazon reviews first. O! I do own a Rolex Daytona.
I got one of these too. I ordered it after buying the pagani design subby hulk homage and finding it excellent. I was initially a little disappointed like you because the bracelet and clasp are as you describe which is poor compared to even the other pagani design watch. It is however not completely rubbish and I didn’t have the dirt problems. For the price (in my case £45 sterling) it is very good. I don’t have any of the other problems you have with the watch itself and it does wear very well. I will try it on a leather strap to see how it looks.

Is it the Seiko movement that is at fault Matt ,or is this bad machining of the crown and pushers?
Andrew Main not really sure. I was so disappointed when all these issues cropped up. I really had high hopes for this watch. But it is a sample size of one and other folks have been saying they are having no problems so maybe I just got a lemon. Thanks for the comment sir and stay safe out there.

Think you were just really really unlucky. Mine has non of those issues and the watch case and strap has none of that bad finishing . My only complaint is that the screw links weren't tight enough out the box, so nearly came off my wrist. Since tightening them up, I've had no issues whatsoever.

the oyster style bracelet on this model is still extremely comfortable, although I agree the tolerances are not as good as rolex/tudor obviously, but I dont see the scrumbling issue all that much in practice. After you wear them in they will sit just fine. The clasp, again has poorer tolerances and fixings, but it's very comfortable and mine havent broken yet and I've got loads of Paganis with that clasp. also, you can buy a replacement bracelet off PD for about £15 GBP
I replaced the bracelet due to the clasp coming apart. The excessive play in the clasp actually forced the pin to shear. I changed the bracelet to a leather strap. The rest of the watch is good for what you pay.

Looks good. Pretty good! Very similar to Daytona, but what this PD has what I highly miss on a Daytona, it has a Date display! Very good!

I just received this Pagani Design 1644 today in the mail, in the black version, and mine so far works perfect, and I really like the watch! You on the other hand received a total defective watch!
You probably got ride of the watch by now, but what I would have done with your watch, is take it apart and clean those dirty pushers and crown, because I believe it's dirt causing those pushers and crown to stick lick that!
Then I would check the movement to see how it performs outside of the case, and check if you have a bad movement, or is the sticky pushers and crown giving you the problem with the inconsistent inaccuracy of your watch. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.
I would definitely say the piece you got is defective across-the-board I purchased the Pagani Daytona rainbow skeleton automatic and have had no quality control issues outside of the deployment buckle diver extension. The only other complaint is that there’s a very sharp rough edge on the end of the clasp but I would still give them an opportunity if I were you moving forward only because the quality control issues are just not there for the piece that I purchased I got very lucky I did however purchase a second pagani with a butterfly clasp which does not close entirely and they’re sending me a new butterfly clasp. I just purchased the watch your reviewing with a black face And I will be absolutely sure to let you know if I experience any other similar issues but I can for sure say that the rainbow is spot on
Sadly, I did not see tgis review before I bought my 1664. Inspired by your trhorough review, I took my Pagani to our material sciences lab to have it checked under our raster electron microscope and unfortunately I can't show you what they have found. You won't believe the amount of schmutz that was in the drilled holes for the springbar. Precision? Nope, oval and with scratches that are really, really deep!

Looks like you got a lemon. I got mine a few weeks ago and it has none of these problems. It is a $63 watch but I must say my watch is near perfect. I'm thinking the 2021 version corrected a lot of these quality issues.
It should be noted this isn't a sapphire or sapphire coated crystal 14-17. The water bubble would sit in a high dome cause of the repellent properties and wouldn't roll off with a trail either, it'd fall off. I got the Parnis 2 years ago figuring if they were the supplier to most if not all brands they'd keep the best stuff for themselves and after wiping down the crystal the properties aren't like they used to be. The Parnis dial is cleaner too but this does the date right IMO. This clasp is better or at least opens more than my old one, had to swap it with a Carlywet Glide-Lock, also has a slight bezel misalignment issue at 6 o'clock. Shame this watch has all those defects but spend $15 more to get a better watch, Pagani do make the nicest Tag divers IMO but steer clear of this model.
brilliantradience agreed. I just bought it for the channel for review. I have Omega’s, Tudor’s, Tag Heuers, Citizens and Seiko’s in my personal collection. I don’t buy these for me. Review the Hyakuichi 101 hyaku1-003-WH, I spam this comment to all channels I discover in the hopes it'd get exposure. I love this watch but no one knows it exists. It's a JDM only homage to Aqua Terra GMT 231.10.44.52.04.001 and runs a Miyota FS20, has 200m WR and screw down crown. Looks gorgeous and feels like a luxury piece except the clasp, best $150 I've ever spent.

The crystal isn't actually sapphire and so Pagani is lying? Isn't the Vickers hardness equal for all sapphire crystals?
i just got it today ! all of these problems had been corrected ! i have none of these issues in september 2023 ! so good watch for this price.

in the video at 19:55 the markings are typical of a NOT original Pagani, I have mine and the solder is not visible in any way, this is clearly a cheap copy of the original Pagani...

skip to 7:45 for his issues. who cares about that first issue? you are meant to wear it. I really dont care about your 'issues' (apart from the sticky pushers) and would never spend 1000s of $ on a single watch..waste of money. You don't have to spend that much for good QC..Tudor Rolex etc are pretty much only bought as status symbols.
I think you had bad luck, just like me with the Guanqin I got from Aliexpress. I have the same watch and does not have those issues. I think quality control is an issue in general when talking about chines watches. As said, mine, has no issues with the glass, or the bracelet or the chronograph. Aliexpress is like a box of chocolates.... Regards

10 Minutes into your video your problems seem to be the bracelet, the bracelet and the bracelet.
Out of curiosity I ordered a PD-1644 with the rubber strap via Amazon. Saves trouble with customs, tariffs and taxes and I have the Amazon return policy, too. I paid 108 Euro for this and I got a very good specimen.
And, other then my SKX 009, the hands actually line up with the indexes on the dial 😊
Looks like they do QC on the watches they sell on Amazon.
Edit: around 17 minutes in your video, you clearly got a very bad one! Mine works as any watch with a Seiko Meccaquartz movement does and I have several.
Come to think of QC. It's quite possible they sell the 2nd rate pieces on aliexpress and alibaba. Wouldn't be the first time a company does this.
I had serious QC issues with Pagani Design as well. I bought 4 watches and 3 had issues. One arrived dead on arrival, another had the chronograph not working, another had scratches on the bezel and crystal. Return on Ali express is a nightmare. I had to pay shipping which was one third of the total cost of the watches. Even though the specs are tempting, I will not buy from Pagani Design anymore.
Finally someone that speaks the truth about these Pagani Design watches. I actually get a lot of hate for that video. People really want to justify them buying a piece of junk.

If you contact the seller they should make it right, they'll probably send you a new one and have you keep the crappy one ,everyone makes a shit one every once in a while. I've been waiting of this one since 4/25/2020, I'm hoping from all the good reviews on this one that mine won't come in messed up...try taking it to a watch repair shop, maybe it's an easy fix?

Update: My Pagani Design PD1644 "Daytona" homage arrived today, Oct 18_2022, about a week ahead of schedule.
First impressions are entirely favourable. All functions seem to work and everything seems well aligned. No complaint whatsoever. Seems cosmetically perfect.
Oh, and it's really quite beautiful!
A surprise was the inclusion of a fabric strap in addition to the bracelet.
About that bracelet: My wrist measures 6-3/4 inches. Had to remove 4 links and still the bracelet is just a hair looser than I would like. Smaller wrists will have a problem as only four links are removable.
Hopefully this reviewer indeed got a lemon.
Apparently, 'schmutz' is a technical term that covers virtually all industries, lol. I just bought a Pagani 1661 (Submariner Homage) and had none of the QC issues you cite here, so hopefully Pagani has worked them out. You got a lemon for sure, but... considering USED Rolex Daytonas are going for at least $20,000, simple division tells me you could buy about 250 Paganis. Surely you'd find a good one out of that number.
Schmutz is an industry term used world wide 🤣🤣🤣. It probably is just a bad one but I have had 5 watches from Ali Express and there had been something wrong with every one of them. I kind of lost confidence in lower priced Chinese made watches. Thanks for the comment man. 🤘🏻

Thanks so much. This really helped me to decide against Pagani Design. On paper they look fantastic, but I'd rather spend $500 on a Citizen watch and not have to worry about those quality issues than $100 on a Pagani with all the issues that you found. It's too bad, because it looked like a beautiful design on their website. I just wish they put more time into their QA process and just charged $200 for it.

You are expecting a lot from a cheap watch. You could avoid all these problems by buying the real thing for $40,000. Please don't expect a watch that costs less than $100 to give you the same experience.

Mine also doesn't have any of these issues (except the crown feels a bit gritty when screwing/unscrewing, but it works as it is suppose to work, and dial looks tiny tiny bit off-center). The issues presented in the video are unbelievable. How can a single watch have so many defects, and how did it pass through QC? Oh, yes, they might not have quality control...

You just got a bad one. Just remember, anything you buy from China is a crap shoot, I have bought 6 Pagani Design watches including this one. 5 out of the 6 were good. I did have one bad one.

Bummer. Obviously Pagani Design is a budget homage brand but I've heard and seen a lot of pretty positive feedback for the price. Unfortunately this one has some QC issues. Sounds like a bit of a gamble ordering a Pagani Design watch.
It is a gamble. Sometimes you really do not know what you are going to get.

We all know we can't compare a $60 watch to a $3K watch, but man, those are some pretty bad issues. Very sloppy. Maybe if this is a $10 watch I'd be fine with it as it'll pretty much be disposable, but a $60 watch? No, even at that low price those issues aren't acceptable.
Maybe you got a lemon? Maybe this sample was built by a guy who was just hired the previous day from the Wishdoit factory. Hehe.
Agreed. I did this video a while ago but I believe I said that and I try to emphasize that the watches I rebooted a sample size of one and don’t represent the entire line of that particular watch. Every manufacturer puts out lemons sometimes and yeah this one definitely is.

Yes but it IS unfair to compare a $4000+ watch to a $60-$80 watch.
Well he's not saying a $60 watch should be just as good as a $3K watch. But nonetheless it's good to know what that extra $2,940 gets you.
But yes I agree with him that this watch is simply unacceptable. Maybe if it's a $5 watch I'd forgive these issues, but then I'd probably give it away right away too.

Nothing personal, and no disrespect……. First of all beautiful Tudor !! But……. Ridiculous video ……. Comparing a 4,000$ Tudor to a 60$ Pagani Design … Really ?! I have 2 Oris watches, the Aquis and Big Crown Pilot, an Omega speedmaster, a Bulova moon watch, 5 Seikos, 2 citizens, and 2 vintage Zenith that belonged to my dad. I bought the exact same watch in white with bracelet, and a rose gold with rubber strap….. and have not one single issue you’ve talked about, not one ! Amazing watches for the price vs quality. Just the Seiko movement sells for 30$. I never tried to compare them to any of my other watches, that would be ridiculous……. Every one who’s into watches know’s that when you buy those inexpensive ( not cheap ) watches from china you stand a chance of getting one with QA issues, but that’s not all of them. You made it sound as if you spent 6,000$ for it and it had all those issues !! Why didn’t you just return the watch ?! They would have been glad to send you another one or reimburse you. And I’m guessing you did not look at any of the other youtube videos where other reviewers reviewed the same watch, recommending it as a great buy.
But hey…… I have a solution….. just go out and get on a waiting list and buy yourself a 50,000.00$ authentic Rolex Daytona, and you won’t have anything to complain about, well maybe just one…… the maintenance cost !

@@rockthewatch First I thought wow he's been very strict with quality control, come on it's only a $60 watch, but then if you cannot adjust the time and date you're done for, and also if you're piling up defects then it's just not gonna be an enjoyable watch. Sorry about it man.No point me suggesting you get a replacement but thanks for making this video. All the other videos I saw of this watch talked great about it, apart from the bracelet of course, that's why I got the rubber strap. I will make sure to test the watch properly when it arrives to make sure the same doesn't happen to me. Thanks again.

You got a bad 1 but i have 1 and non of this and really it does look better than your Tudor and really the faults you seeing no 1 else gona see them its all in your mind look closely at the tudor theres plenty of faults to the trained eye if you look for a fault you will find it just look at the Tudor who wants to wear Henry Tudors surname on a watch beeeeg fault to me 😅
