I saw credit given at 10:14 into the video; however, I'm not sure that "Chris" is your name.
I've been subscribed for quite a while and love your channel. BTW, why would anyone
    ever want to unsubscribe?
One of my younger brothers and I helped my dad build a 6" reflecting telescope in 1967.
We had a Dr. Humm (degree in astronomy) in our neighborhood -- he got us hooked!
Some of the concepts are hard to wrap one's brain around, but there is so much
excellent and informative material online; it really soaks in after a while.
The brother who worked on the telescope with us got his Ph.D. in Geophysics, was
an adjunct professor at the U. of Houston, and had his own consulting practice.
Sometimes I wish he'd gone into astrophysics!
Wishing you success on your project and degree.

Thank you! And that's such a nice story, It's so true; once you first get hooked on astronomy and learning about astrophysics you struggle to ever stop - that's been the case with me so far anyway!

Our observations of galaxies are wrong if we have not accounted for the observed galaxies the are on a tilt from our perspective and the extended time it takes for light to travel from the furthest side of galaxy vs the closest side. If we were to filter all galaxies to that which are observed face on vs on tilt or edge, then I propose that the justification for dark matter quickly evaporates. Hope you get a Nobel Prize just stay clear of the glycerin. Good video. 😊

Loving any new lad making an effort to get into the Galactic Space YT game! Keep it going bro and ull be up there with the boys running SEA, Cool Worlds, or Astrum!
U got my Sub brah! Look forward to many more!

Good video on dark matter, the galactic current sheet and the fact our solar system orbits the Milky Way galaxy, would be a good video

Nice video, lucidly explained. I do find myself often thinking about Dark Matter, and what it could really be, and sometimes asking myself whether it is to do with how gravity behaves on a cosmic scale?

I wonder what rate matter converts into energy inside of a galaxy through various processes, and at what point is that energy no longer counted in the mass of that galaxy?

Lol, they don't need dark matter. They need this small equation, 2007x10^-7 in/s added to their equations. There is no missing matter in their equations if a simple equation is able to explain the motion in question.
The stars in galaxies move extremely fast away from the central core of the galaxy and completely contradicts the laws of motion, general relativity, the laws of thermodynamics and laws of conservation. The motion of the stars in the milky Way proves the big bang and cosmological models of the universe wrong.
Our solar system is receding away from the galactic core at an astounding 900,000 mi/h (249 mi/s 401 km/s). All the stars and debris in our galaxy is moving away from the black hole at a high velocity the further they are located away from the core. Scientists refer to this motion as a high velocity dispersion rate of matter. It cannot be explained and completely debunks the laws of motion, the laws of physics, general relativity, the big bang and cosmological models how galaxies formed. One observation debunks them all.
But the small equation in the first paragraph explains all the motion, but not the why. Over-Unity of energy explains the why. Energy and matter can be created but cannot be destroyed once created. That is why the universe constantly grows in volume and size over time. There was no big bang.

How can it be science if it's just theoretical? Didn't the JWT just disprove the big bang? Religion and science always talk in absolutes but really only have theories when it comes to life.
If your gonna buy into some religion or unprovable scientific theory then...look into the God Emperor of Man. Warhammer 40k baby...I'm talking astartes and genetic enhancements. Let's go big 💪

I understand your sentiment, however that is the nature of all science. An unexplainable observation is made and so a new theory or change to current models is needed. Before gravity and forces were quantified and understood people likely said the same thing about studying and theorising them as you have about Dark Matter. Yet now that we have spent more time researching them it's led to incredible breakthroughs in technology and has improved human lives everywhere. Every scientific concept starts off as just a theory somewhere.

My friend, your equivocation on the use of the word "theoretical" seems to point to aome basic misunderstandings about science and epistemology.
Science has no absolutes - it HYPOTHESIZES tentative explanative models of reality, subjected to the available data and open to correction. It makes no truth claims.
Yet, when a hypothesis fails in being exhaustively falsified, it is, once again, tentatively, named Theory, and to the extent reasonable confidence allows us, called a fact.
