As a knife maker the term "soft steel" goes away once the heat treatment takes the blade to an hrc of 58 or higher. I would rather have 1066 with great heat treatment than a powdered supersteel with a lousy heat treatment any day of the week. Also, you can pull the scales, degrease the steel and leave it in white vinegar overnight. This helps with rust prevention and allows the rust preventative oil to adhere to the steel better. While doing this, take the scales and leave them in boiled linseed oil overnight. Wipe them dry and let the oil cure under the hot sun or a heat lamp for a day or so and reassemble.
I put a mustard vinegar patina on my blade and a wood finish on the scales, along with leather conditioning the sheath. It already comes razor sharp so with a few upgrades you can take this knife to the next level.
Very nice review. They really nail how to make a bushcraft knife. Thanks
Got the Adventurer and love it except for the ferro rod and holder. Don't care for them. I should have got this one first but it's ok I ordered this one and should get it Thursday. Nice review and thanks for doing it.

Does anyone know the difference between the CSH and SSH versions of this knife? Carbon and stainless?
Yes
That's not featehersticks, all knife grinds and do that. Scandi is supposed to allow thicn shavings that also curl, to greate a more easy to catch fire stick, not a stick with other sticks attached to it! lol Even though I've manage decent feathersticks with full flat and Saber Grinds, it's the Scandi, that' if properly profiles and used, it both makes things easier and provides the best results. It's all about experience, then knowledge that goes together and that goes for both knife use and knife sharpening.
Keep em sharp and happy new Year!!
I have this one it is worth the money I have big hands some of the other bps knives I have are a little small for my taste
Actually my bps cuts deeper than the mora companion
