Mine buzzed pretty bad when I tried anything other than balanced cables from an audio interface, once I got those I absolutely fell in love with these monitors. They're so crispy and clear, while still being punchy with the kicks, and great natural tone overall. If I had to describe them using only one word, it'd be 'crystal'. I even play video games on them. I definitely recommend them at their price points.
Thanks for testing the speakers. Though it is different to hear the sounds through YT. I could hear the difference when you adjusted them and they sound really great. With the ability to configured the setting. I don't know how the Yamaha HS5 sound any better. These are even more customizable than the Yamaha HS5's. Thanks for the sound test.
The hiss and static is typically caused by improper grounding and has been a common complaint with these monitors. This can be easily fixed by using a 2-channel (stereo) passive direct input box (or DI box) with a “ground” switch on it. A couple of inexpensive examples are the Rolls DB24 and the Klark Teknik DI AV 22P. Also, another common complaint with the Eris series monitors can be not having enough signal, or power, coming from the source to adequately drive the monitors. This may give people the impression that the monitors amplifiers don’t have enough power. That’s why I use a small preamplifier between my source (PC audio card stereo out) and the DI box, and then from the DI box XLR OUT to the monitors. The preamplifier “boosts” the signal to the monitors. In my case, the signal path is: PC stereo out > preamplifier > DI box > monitors. I love these monitors!
Listenin on my MIcrolab 50 eur speakers+woofer they really sound excellent for my needs - amateur bedroom "studio" with a MOTU M2 audio interface. I was looking at some RCF Ayra 7 second hand for 350 eur, but I don't know, these seem to have everything - nice bass, good mids and the heighs are not harsh at all. I think for 250 eur these are a steal.
oddly...these are really good for the price. I have JBL 305MKII's for my main monitors, a pair or Eris 3.5's for my office monitors, and a pair of M-Audio BX3 Graphite monitors. The M-Audio sucks. I had thought based on reputation they'd be better. They have design features I thot might imply better quality than the Eris 3.5 but I find them bass heavy whereas the Eris are very even in comparison. My JBL's are nice but I think my next pair will be the E5 XT from Presonus as the self noise from the JBL is annoying I don't know about the hum from the E5. I might try the E5 before I buy my next pair and give my M-Audio pair to someone. nice vid, good review!!
I also bought this speaker and also encountered noise problems. The noise disappeared after I connected the audio power supply separately to another socket
Dont know why people dont demo these with metal or rock music..... Its hard to make something sound bad with electronic generated music... This needs a real test.
I jam out to a wide range on these. Metal like Pantera, Metallica, Judas Priest, Sepultura, etc. 60-70's Rock, all the way to modern and oldschool Rap/Trap/Hip Hop. They handle pretty well across the board. They're known for being flat so it can expose a lot of issues with your favorite artists mixes.

Hi Vlad...Do they get Hot on the back? My pair allways get very hot on the back of the monitor...Is that normal? You think?...Thanks and great review....:)
Hallo everybody:) i`ve just got them, not for studio, just for listening to the music and they souond amazing! I don`t think that any "consumer" multimedia speakers in that price range can sound that good. But...there is a "hiss" coming from tweeter(both speakers, identical amount and sound), even if nothing is conneccted, and i can hear it from 100cm(bearly noticeble, almost like hiss in my own ears). Is it normal?
I don’t have them but I’ve seen a lot of reviews stating the same issue with the hiss. I think it’s just a thing of having luck, to some people there’s no hiss and others have a lot of it.
The standard Eris 5 tweaters sound absolutely crystalclear, with that being said i have hard time believing that the so called "wider" sound image will do any difference what so ever and whoever is using these without their subwoofer is doing it wrong...
You can't feed the Monitors through "unbalanced" RCA in...poorest quality EVER, feed the signal out from an external Audio Card through "balanced" TRS/XLR...basic stuff.

With another model of presonus monitors switching to TRS cables and moving my modem and rerouting my cat cables took out all interference.

It helps that you're going through the motu 2. Those motu preamps and DAC are killer for the money.
Using shielded cable nought to eliminate any hiss or other interference.
Use balanced cables to remove the hiss and hum.

Have you compared the to The E5 xt vs E5 BTs?
The buzz is because of the rca cable I’ve ram into that problem before too
Damn they sound good.
what RCA cables do i need to get to hook these up to my macs? Thank you for the cool video.
Same question here!
Macs don’t have rca input connections. My recommendation is to get a budget audio interface to connect them
How have you connected both speakers to TV?
Surely a RCA adapter?

I joust bought online much earlier, great audio monitor for editing and also for listening music via You Tube
E5 XT or JBL LSR 305 ? which would be better
I like the 305s better over all but the E5XTs are more focused.
