We don't need politicians we need statesmen.
We don't need social-isms we need sociability.

We don't need doctrine we need sagacity.
Civil servant is not a job it is a duty.

Our country really needs the person Victor Davis Hanson is, and the person Thomas Sowell is. Our country needs their deep wisdom rather than self-promotion, their unspoken compassion rather than virtue signaling, and their honest common sense. Their life stories say so much. They are both conservative and progressive, if conservatism means preserving what is meaningful and progressivism means making meaningful changes. How can we decide if preservation or change is in order, to be conservative or progressive, without first contemplating what is meaningful as we consider the available evidence from different perspectives?

@DT-abcd Right On. You need to bring people to Christ. But still, many who claim to be Christians keep their heads in the clouds looking up, hoping to be raptured out of here.
But Christ told us to occupy, doing good, until he comes. What did his disciples do in response to this command that changed the world?
If they were here now, would they ask the Lord, "What would you have me do about the current elections?" Or would they just ignore what is happening?
We have one team that is against freedom of speech and wants to cancel your right to share your beliefs. That team is for infant sacrifice in the womb, and even after a child is born alive.
The other team has a leader who provided 3 Supreme Court justices who recognized that abortion wasn't a decision to be made at the federal government level. They turned it back to the states to decide.
Twice, they have sought to assassinate him. So, it is important to note that he has chosen a Christian to run as his vice president.
If all Christians decide to either not vote or to throw away their vote on a third party candidate, we will get the word salad lady for our next president. Don't you think that you should cast a vote that has some chance of stopping her?

Creatures of DC. Well said, but you have got to understand that all fighting forces have been tied to the whims/careers of these creatures since at the mid-90s, from my perspective as a retired Marine. The dictates from on high have been innervating the skills and abilities of our military institutions for a long time. If you want to understand the basis for this erosion in the Marine Corps, start with looking at the traditional definition of Unity of Command, provided by Henri Fayol, to the current joint forces definition adopted in Marine Corps doctrine, then take a look at how the officer promotion criteria has been justified under the current definition. Without a wholesale reconstruction of basic military doctrine you will always be confronted with these creatures because you have not dismantled the system that creates them. Same could be said of the career enlisted ranks.

Couple of points. I don’t believe that two years of military service has that much of an advantage in service as a politician.
I believe that DEI/Woke agendas have been the main reason for low recruitment in both the Canadian and American military. Canada’s Liberal government has lowered ALL standards and erased most discipline to where it is a social service program.
As VDH has stated frequently, we have raised THE most leisured generation in history and they have no desire to do feel discomfort or effort (much less fear and pain) to contribute to anything that doesn’t serve their hedonistic proclivities.

I see little value in surface ships if drones can hit and disable the ship. The laser defense systems are likely such a big advantage that ships without the same defense capabilities will be at a huge disadvantage. Going forward it seems that subs make a lot of sense vs surface ships. Combine subs with the ability to launch mass drones from 100 miles away ..... different situation. Some sort of new paradigm like that is needed.

More important as Commander In Chief over having served in the military is ideology. If your ideology America is the world problem, whether it is pro Marxism, high belief in big social welfare programs, or similar, American managed decline and appeasement of foreign adversaries will be how the presidency is conducted. That person will appoint military strategists with the same view. And that will always lead to more conflict in the world. When peace thru strength combined with the belief that America is the shining hill and respect of the limitations set forth by the Constitution along with the desire to keep us out of wars, that is a recipe for success, regardless of having served. Service does not guarantee the latter viewpoint. Ideology is far superior to this position than any form of experience.

However, the United States can no longer build ships like it was able to during the Second World War. Just throwing money at the issue will not solve the problems caused by forty years of outsourcing. What the American leadeship has failed to understand is it would take years to rebuild the American shipbuilding industry. It is the same across other sectors of the American economy. Due to inherent defects in the education system in America, training the necessary workforce to man these industries would be problematic at best unless major reforms, where academic excellence is prioritized over DEI ideology are put in place to reverse this decline. At present, reforming the education system along these lines would be anathema as far as the Liberal Washington Illuminati are concerned. Amongst the Liberal elite, ideology purity will always trump the national interest to the detriment of the American people.
It is worth noting that the Biden Administration is talking about building American warships in South Korea to make up for the deficiencies in American shipbuilding. This is not surprising when one considers the fact that it could take nine years to construct one minor warship in an American yard. The fact that American warships have to be constructed abroad provides another illustration of America’s decline,

I love VDH, but he is just incorrect that China has more tonnage in their Navy. We still have almost 2x the tonnage, and that includes the Chinese coat guard. Details like that matter if he is going to make his argument successfully.

Trump can completely ban abortion in the United States.

      No, it’s a state’s rights issue.

@@clutzfrmr3645 No it isn't. Haven't you read project 2025? It's all in there. It was written by Trump's own cabinet secretaries. Lindsay Graham has already drafted the legislation. In November the GOP wins the senate and congress...and Trump wins the white house. The first thing he does is sign that legislation. And he definitely CAN sign it. Federal law over-rides state law. It's just a fact. That's why no states could pass abortion legislation before. Because there was a federal law that made it legal. SCOTUS got rid of that. Now Lindsay has drafted a new federal law. Trump will sign it and abortion will no longer be possible anywhere in America. Including dem states.

Not supporting Izrael does Not mean the USA supports Hamas/Hezbullah.

UR Full of It. That is precisely what it means. Iran supported Hamas and Hezbollah are Israels enemies who act out the words of the Bible such as Psalm 82:4. A US presidential administration either supports Israels right to live in its Godgiven land or it doesnt. OBiden/Harris do not.
