- Calabria Italy is the area that we call home. We live in a villa in the town of Scalea. In this vlog, we show you what it is like living in Southern Italy. And we welcome you to share in all of our adventures here in beautiful Italy. In this channel, we show you daily Italy life, and more specifically, life in Calabria. We are very happy in Italy, and wish to share the joy with you. In this video, we show work being done on our charming villa by the sea. We start work on our driveway install, laying the base cement. We are very pleased to start work on the driveway, and see the renovation continue. We then leave our villa, and go to have fun with friends. We have coffee at our favorite italy lido in Calabria Scalea, Da Pietro, with one of our patrons. After this, we have lunch with a friend, where we meet another viewer of our channel. We finish by visiting a neighboring town in Calabria - San Nicola Arcella. We eat dinner at Fa-Tu, with friends, John and Michelle.
We are Michael and Justin, two American expats, now living full time in Calabria Italy, in the town of Scalea.We show you what it really means to live an Italian life, as we are living italy every day. Michael has a disability with mobility issues, and likes to take the time to show, with this channel, that anyone, regardless of mobility issues, can dare to live the dream of Italy. Amazing! I’ve never seen extensions for on concrete truck. The one man doing all work! Wow! Here concrete is incredible expensive. Life looks good there! Enjoy! I’m looking forward to visiting Scalea in May. Doing research on where to live next year when I move to Italy.

Guys the driveway is certainly coming along very nicely. They’re so quick those Italian workers and do a wonderful job. I really liked the little restaurant Pizza and More. A great name. Reminded me a cute restaurant in the north of Italy in a small town called Tarzo. You would love both. Highly recommended when you start travels north. Enjoy your week. Warwick

The driveway's looking good, at it was great to find out that you can get fried pizza in San Nicola! The first time I tried it was in Trecchina (it was fabulous) but that's a 45-min. drive from our home in SDT.

Hello Justin and Michael there not far from Paris, it s a sunny day too. I am glad to see you have a new path to go in and out of your garden. The work made part of it a mano is stunning. Also the pizza seems delicious and their crusts too. It s a pleasure to go to restaurant with kind and funny friends. Watching the cement come out was like frosting a cake, lol. I cannot get over the price to do such work. I paid 5 times that for a stepped walkway half the size of the amount of cement! I’m with you, so much fun to watch the truck scrap the dirt. Such fun!

Absolutely love the renovations!!!!! The flagstone on the driveway will add to luxury of the villa!!.. I'm a stone mason so can really appreciate the added touch!!!.. but just wondering...how much should one put aside for Reno's..like what you have done on your Villa??
Joseph, thank you so much for your comment here. We will say that we still have to tally everything up. With that said, it is really not as much as one might think. Most importantly, you have to make sure, as a foreigner, you do not get someone who is out to rip off Americans. Sadly, this is common here. But, there are great workers.
