the final message from Issac the lead singer
isaacslade I have some heavy news to share today. I know it’s been pretty quiet on the band front for a long time but I want to let everyone know I’m stepping down from The Fray. It’s been an honor and privilege to make music with those three amazing guys for the last two decades, and all for the best fans anyone could ever imagine.
I let the guys know five or six years ago that I was getting ready to call it, that I was going to start my long exit ramp and now it’s finally time. And it’s all good. I wish those guys all the best in whatever they do next. I’m ready to start dreaming up what it is I’m going to do with the rest of my little life on earth, along with my incredible wife and our two little miracles of kids.
Here’s to our legendary fans, to our steadfast families and friends, to the teams of brilliant people behind the scenes who made this journey possible in the first place, and most of all to Ben, Joe and Dave. Here’s to the last 20 years of walking together, crying together, playing together, singing together & laughing together. Thanks.

Issac wasn’t the band. As awesome of a voice he has, he didn’t make the band what it was.
There was a whole band behind that voice that a lot of people seem to forget.

@JohnnyCarterMusicOfficial You should listen to Heaven Forbid. Joe has always been more than capable of carrying the torch. There are bands who lose their lead and don't have any other competent singers left, but that's not the case with The Fray. Joe's great.

I went through so many scenarios in my head why Isaac left. I saw countless interviews with media and Isaac Slade. Come to find out he had so many things to work out like personal things, stage anxiety, etc etc. Everyone needs their space yet I'm hoping one day Isaac returns to Colorado to take the helm again. Wishing him all the best on Vashon Island with his record store! Joe King looks like he's doing well. The honesty and reverence of The Fray ring so true through this new song. I would've never thought a new song would come out but here we are. Looking forward to seeing the guys later on this year. Cheers!

I'm so glad you guys are back! No matter what anyone says. The Fray isn't the same without Isaac and so on. Yes, Isaac is irreplaceable. But the spirit of The Fray lives on. I never thought the fray would come back. Great nostalgic song with good chord progression.
I became a fan of The Fray in 2015 and have remained one ever since. It's been crazy to think back to the last almost 10 years and see how much I've grown and changed. I'll be graduating college this year and I'm excited to enter this next chapter of my life as it seems the band enters a new chapter of theirs. I'm sad Isaac is gone but I'm glad the band is continuing to make music, and I'm really excited for what's to come.

Why incomplete? Makes the band name a lil more meaningful. Joe King is sensational and it’s nice to see him be lead vocal. And he wrote many songs for The Fray while Isaac was lead.
Isaac's voice is iconic, but Joe King is an insane vocalist too. He was lead in the Fray's earliest songs, his voice is just as magical as Slade's.

The Fray was one of my first concerts way back in 2007. I saw them two more times after that. I still regret not being able to see them on their Helios tour. I'm so glad that they're back and making more music. Also looking forward to seeing them live again this year!

I knew they existed but i discovered all their albums and every single song and Isaacs voice it did something to my mind body and soul..i ended up sobering up goinng for walks in nature everyday listening to the albums.....man ill never forget that feeeling of love and healing ...thank you❤

Honestly, my favorite Fray songs are the first ones with Joe on the vocals. Rainy Zürich is my favorite song of all the Fray songs. I’m interested to see how their new songs sound with him as the sole singer.
It's one of my favorites too! I never knew it wasn't Isaac! I went back and relistened and I hear it now.
I'm not even kidding when I say Heaven Forbid is my fav The Fray song. Just never had a song resonate with me so much. He will do more than justice for the future of the band I think.

Isaac was a great vocalist from the Fray and he knew how to play the guitar very well.
Of course I miss Isaacs unique voice but I totally like Joes voice and think that he fits perfectly to the sound of The Fray.
Although, I hope you guys will look for a pianist to compensate Isaacs piano skills and to bring this important sound element of The Fray back.
