This song is dope and has epic Sublime type vibes, but I gotta keep it real and speak from experience.
I'm almost five years clean and sober off of IV heroin and crack.
Sobriety is possible. Even if you never think it's possible for you. That was me. I thought that the pain was too great to face. The pain never goes away, but I've learned to use it to fuel my life and creative drive.
Everyone who uses heroin (especially creative people such as musicians) eventually comes to the point where they make one of two decisions:
1. Run towards the truth and decide to get high off of the same pain you run from
2. Keep chasing the same external chemical high hoping that it will bring you to a place of acceptance and peace
My hope is that every musician who is struggling with addiction will discover in the same way that I did that it's possible to live a chemically abstinent life and not sacrifice your passion or intensity.
Prayers up for every rapper, musician, and talented soul we have lost to the needle.
where were you to say exactly this to me while I was in all those rehabs and sober living homes for most of my 20's?!?!?! I feel like there are souls aren't very compatible- or simply can wind up feeling like their needs are not fulfilled, or in my experience, that they encourage/suggest you accept this false belief... that we have to drop all those artsy ways.. along with everything else you found was no longer "serving you" - aka be a square, work 9-5 m-f, stay sober, choose life, choose consumerism...electric tin openers, 3 piece luggage sets with matching suits, etc. (my brain was trying to convince me into believing) creative forgotten in the recovery community

At least you got clean when fent was rare and tranq wasn't even a thing. Now the "heroin" (real h barely exists anymore) these kids are smoking and shooting has withdrawals that can actually kill you meanwhile they're putting sores all over your body.
