    We are within a couple of years of our next big "semi-retirement" fifth wheel. Luxe has been of big interest but the Riverstone is right up there. I just need FR to do two things to the Riverstone by 2021.
    1. More toy hauler options.
    2. Side patio. Once you have one, you'll never go without.

    • @lynnpappas4049
      @lynnpappas4049 4 роки тому

      AMEN, that would be awesome. The Riverstone has a one of a kind underbelly protecting the whole underside of the fifth wheel. If they could actually make a Toy Hauler that was built right and had a kitchen in it that you could actually put something into, that would be pretty great. Check out this Forest River/Cedar Creek, Vengeance Touring Edition 395KB13. It has a great Master bedroom/ Suite feel and it has a kitchen that you can actually put something into. And what's great is it has the Riverstone underbelly construction. my.matterport.com/show/?m=LDZ21Ke9QdE

      Although I think the desk option was a smart add on that compliments the floors an “flow” I agree with you that a side patio would be sweet.....I would totally opt for a side patio vs. a desk!!!

    1 thing they didn't show is in the kitchen there is actually a piece on the counter next to the sink, you pull up and drop the garbage down. There is an outside door to remove garbage. Also they did not talk about it comes with heating pads on tanks which is standard. Look up Riverstone Construction on youtube

    We already have a Riverstone Legacy (RSL) 38RE, but after seeing this floorplan we wished that we had waited for this model to be released. The kitchen countertop is OK, but it could be better if they had moved the fridge to the left side of the kitchen area. Additionally, the second hamper in the half bath is useless and I would rather have a storage shelf in the lower half for the half bath and another storage area in the top half for the bedroom. Easy enough to fix with a single board, but they should offer that option by including a removable shelf for that area. Only a 1,500-watt inverter for a rig that size? I'm not sure who does the math, but that's a ridiculously small inverter for a FW that size. Most of the better hairdryers are 1,550-1,575 watts, which would overload the inverter. Also, the HUGE lighted mirror in the front bathroom is a total waste of space. We have one in our RSL FW and wish that they had split the mirror into 2 smaller ones, one for each sink, and then put a storage cabinet between them. You can never have enough storage in an RV bathroom. The second fireplace in the bedroom is a waste of space for our purposes and we would much rather have a shelf with doors or extra drawers. Also, it's important to mention that this type of FW requires that you have a 1 top dually to safely pull it once it's outfitted with your stuff.

    Not to knock on this RV because it looks beautiful, but Forrest River isn't exactly known for it's quality control or fit and finish. What has this company done to turn things around? I've heard hundreds if not thousands of complaints about their quality on multiple online groups.

    • @lynnpappas4049

      The Riverstone branch (so to speak) of Forest River is just going into their fifth year. Before Riverstone came out Forest River' top of the line luxury coach was their Creek Side model. It was nice, but not as nice or as well built as the Riverstone. If you watched and listened carefully to this video, it talked about the all real wood and no vinyl or photo or veneer wrapped wood any where, along with the fact that the walls are literally three inches thick; making it far easier to put the insulation needed to keep you warm and cool inside. They didn't mention it in the video, but the walls are not laminated. That is a big plus in the RV world. Because the walls are a hung wall just like in your home, if you should get someone to blind side you and you need repairs, the costs are going to be much much less than if you have to repair a laminated wall. And a big plus in their manufacturing is the fact that they do not use Lauan in their build. Lets face it water can get in to your walls no matter what is done, and with Lauan in the walls (Lauan is a cheap manufactured wood product that is about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick) your asking for trouble. If water gets in to your walls the Lauan is going to absorb the water and then swell up. Not only does the swelling of the Lauan cause problems with delamination but mold as well. Forest River has eliminated that problem by eliminating the use of Lauan and by doing a full hung wall without lamination. Kudos for a job well done Forest River.

      I have had Dodge/Ram 3500 dually trucks since 2005. The new Ram, GM & Ford 3500 dually trucks have some unreal tow ratings but this rig loaded with gear will be 18k+ gross. My new Ram 3500 is rated for 30k and equipped with auto air bags but I think I would look at a 4500 truck if I was getting one of these rigs. Really depends on the pin weight. Even with air bags, heavy pin weight can make it a harsh ride. I can say, a few weeks ago we purchased bags of concrete and I had the guys set the pallet in the bed at 2,600 lbs. Auto air ride leveled out the truck (only squatted about 1" before air ride leveled it) and could barely notice 2,600 lb sitting over the gooseneck hitch.

      Hi Todd, I noticed your comment after looking at the video (this is the unit I'm hoping to purchase the end of this spring) and noticed what you had put down about the GVWR. I knew that wasn't right, so I went on the Forest River website and pulled up the Riverstone 39RKFB. I have copied and pasted this from their website: GVWR:19084 lb. I think where you got that figure of under 17K was from what the sales person said when he went out the front door and got the weight listing. What he was reading had to be the UVW (unloaded vehicle weight) which is 16292 lb. This is the UVW listed on the web site. Of course this all changes depending on any options that are chosen.

    If this coach had a side or rear patio and zero carpeting, it would be great. Also, I’m not sure if Riverstone does any customization with the color schemes. I honestly don’t like the darker tones in the wood finishes, beige walls and bulky window & slide trims/crown molding. Too matchy- matchy for my taste. @@Erin-Thor I've been looking for the last year and a half for the fifth wheel I'll be purchasing in the spring and I also looked at LUXE. They are great, and their build is good as well (even though they still do laminated walls). However, their price (even though they are factory direct) is $60,000. to $80,000. dollars more. Everyone wants the best out there, but not everyone can afford that. Soooo, you look for the absolute best you can find for your money. Whats nice about the Riverstone 39RKFB when you order the Legacy Package, the items that most RV Manufactures charge extra for as add on options (Full Paint, W/D, dual pane windows, Goodyear tires/disk brakes, water manifold, Ceramic tile backsplash, hand laid tile flooring) comes standard on the Riverstone Legacy models. It's always nice to get more bang for your buck. Oh Yeah... Oh, and don't forget the 3" walls...

    • @Erin-Thor
      @Erin-Thor 4 роки тому +1

      Lynn Pappas - Looks good! Only watched a couple of videos so far, sorry, been busy. The only thing I’ve noticed that might be a negative, and only because one trailer we purchased had serious leaks when driving in the rain. The front lower seams under the raised portion that goes over your truck, has non-molded seams, that could (not will) be a weak point for water to enter when at speed. Being lower, you only risk the undercarriage getting wet, the upper cap is molded and so should be great. We arrived after a long drive in the rain to find our front bedroom mattress soaked, that was so much fun. 🤮
      Edit, LOVED the hole for trash w an outside door! Excellent design! Laundry chute is also an excellent touch. Well thought out.

      Opinion Matters, I agree thoroughly. I had my first fifth wheel back in 2000. and it had a fiberglass roof. When checking out several fifth wheels for a purchase the end of this spring, I was told they didn't do fiberglass roofing any longer on fifth wheels that TPO was the product now used and that it was better because it had a 12 year warranty. Well, I looked into TPO and yes it does have a good warranty but I still don't believe it is as tough as hard or as strong as fiberglass. After I expressed my desire to this manufacture about my preferring fiberglass I was then told that if I wanted a fiberglass roof (I think they were afraid they might lose a sale) it would cost me an additional $5,000. That was told to me by a LUXE customer sales person.

      Nope, not buying that explanation. These days there are a ton of synthetic surface options that wouldn’t add much weight. Anything but pure white would be an improvement. I happen to know for a fact that gelcoat tint doesn’t cost much and wouldn’t add a single ounce.
      Besides, adding a couple hundred # to an already 20k# 5th wheel wouldn’t make much difference. I suspect the choice to not use ceramic or stone tile on that large of a surface has more to do with deflection and flex of the coach.

But, in this unit that was being videoed the shower was a light silvery gray that matched the walls. It was said that the shower was a special order. So, I'm guessing that they are available you just have to speak up and ask for it.

      Check out the Redwood RW4001LK for a non-white shower enclosure. I've not seen it in person, but it looks great in photos. I actually prefer the decor of the Redwood, although this Riverstone is a lot of bang for the buck.

    Ok so legitimately, paying attention to the big one ☝️ @5:01
    My background is construction and I get the door jamb, i visually see the size of the architrave/door frame.

    He literally on about 25 to 30 years ownership, or buy and trade in 7 years?
    I understand languages but what please someone explain
    Edit,
    I am absolutely loving all these videos, I currently have fun with boats instead. The cleaning techniques that are used are cool.
    This coach is amazing.
    Also. FYI. I completely understand the technical shit before he shows “the best bit”

    Seems like Forest River is up to its reputation of poor quality - anybody notice the missing door handle on the fridge? Give it another 750 miles and something else will fall off...

      So I'm guessing if the fridge handle needed to be replaced it was Foret Rivers fault and not the fridge manufacture?

      Lynn Pappas - guess I’d expect Forest River to be doing a quality check on EVERYTHING long before their $150,000 rig hits the show floor. They are responsible for what they are selling. And for $150,000, It’s fair to expect more. This is just a sign of what you can expect as an owner. Or rather, what I experienced as an owner...

      @@ContagiousYJ Forest River is the parent company, (remember THOR owns Forest River and DRV as well as a bunch of others) Riverstone has only been in manufacturing for going on five years. No RV is perfect, just like no sticks and brick house is perfect. There are going to be things come up. That is just a fact, (when they say the RV while going down the road goes through and experiences what amounts to a 6.0 earthquake) but most people will complain even if the shade valance comes loose. And yes I realize there are some bigger things that can happen, but that is the nature of the RV. But I don't think the manufacturer does stuff to these RV's on purpose just to give people greef. But to listen to some people you get the feeling that is what they think. I'm a very healthy grandma who even though I'm a grandma I am well capable of doing repairs when needed, and if it is something I can't handle I'll get it repaired. P.S. And please remember, that unit does not sell for $150,000. you can pick it up for between $97K and $107K..

      @@lynnpappas4049 = What the point is, is that they should have fixed it to show it off on how good the RV is. It is an RV show. There are also features they didn't talk about. Also if you are interested in this RV look at the Riverstone construction one.

      How long ago was that? Forest River has upped their game considerably in the past few years. And like Big Truck Big RV said in a video I recently watched; all builds have a lot to do with how the crew was feeling that day when your coach was put together. How True. It is that way with all Manufactures. Forest River has also upped their final inspections, and quite honestly I think it shows.

      ContagiousYJ - No, I didn’t. LOL! Was that a Samsung fridge? I’ve owned two Samsung TV’s and one Samsung french door fridge, 1 TV and the fridge failed in the warranty period, and Samsung said no to the warranty coverage. That fridge was a $3,000 machine, I will NEVER EVER buy a Samsung product. I believe that the fridge and TV are two different Samsung groups, that BOTH said no to warranty repairs says it is a company wide policy to deny warranty coverage.
