Coming tomorrow:
-Brighter and clearer. Fixed by applying a color filter in my recording software that my previous machine didn't need, didn't know it was a thing I could do. Also had some default monitor settings that were a bit more aggressive on color and brightness than I like, adjusted those.
-Resolution changed. I was using the max resolution of my monitor, which is more than UA-cam can translate, so it was actually so good it ended up being bad? Good to know.
-Sound "echo." My physical space isn't quite set up yet. I have sound dampening materials that will help the echo, waiting on delivery of the adhesive strips to put them where they need to be. Half-rigged a temporary solution for tomorrow, should be fully resolved by Monday's video. Once the physical environment is set up, I can dial in the audio settings on my recording software to get everything just right.
The MTGO client is too old to have proper resolution scaling, so all of the text and card images will be exactly the same size (in pixels). And since you're using a higher resolution now, they take up proportionally less of the screen. You could try to compensate for this with Windows' resolution scaling, but I doubt that'll look very good in the end. It would probably be easiest to stick to 1920x1080, you could even just temporarily switch the resolution of your monitor while recording if that makes things easier. Anyway, thanks for taking the address this!

im watching your videos at night in bed and i actually enjoyed the darker theme of the deck building.
usually i just get blinded by the lights.
i can see how others want a brighter quality, but is there any chance/option to change that bright "light mode" on mtgo?
i dont play it myself and dont know if you can even change that.

I actually much prefered the new brightness but definitely improve the clearness. I often find myself looking away at times from the old brightness wishing it was darker.
Brian is legitimately terrifying to watch in control mirrors. He's just sitting there telling hus opponent what they'll do next and what's in their hand. Like Joseph Joestar, "The next thing you're going to say is..."
Some feedback about the new setup, the brightness and the resolution are way too low, making the cards too hard to read.
I agree, I thought my brightness was down and youtube was forcing me into 480p, but that doesn't actually appear to be the case
I think the resolution problem is the opposite, the resolution on his new monitor is higher which in turn makes the cards smaller and the text smaller (since those like staying the same amount of pixels) and along with just being small and UA-cam compression it's much harder to read

Congrats on the new rig! In terms of issues/differences from pre-hardware change recordings as requested on 1:16 that I've come across:
-The video is a lot darker, like the gamma for it has been turned down a lot
-The capture region seems more zoomed-out: I quickly noticed that the match information is visible on the upper side of the screen, as well as your MTGO hotkeys on the bottom right. This also caused cards, graveyards, the stack, and text to be smaller, to the point where the text on card images have some artifacting even on 1080p with how small they are now. Also, a very small sliver of white from the match record/chatlog(?) can be seen on the right side of the screen
-There's some sort of metallic echoing/vibrating on mic input, though your voice itself is fine past that, although it's louder here than before
My guess as to why everything seems smaller is that with the computer upgrade, Bosh may have had a resolution upgrade - i.e. playing and recording in 1920x1080 before, playing in 2-4k and recording in 1920x1080 now. It's a familiar feel when my buddy streams his 4k monitor in 720p lol
@@ZoltarDeathNnjayeah that's exactly what I was thinking too, he got a nice new 4k monitor and now the scale is way off
the cards in the graveyard, revealed zone, etc. are really really tiny as well now
Maybe it's an HDR issue (in terms of the video darkness)?
@@karenwest6350hdr normally washes my stuff out, but it's possible either way. Or I knight be thinking for hdr optimized games... and I'm sure mtgo is not lol
1:05:45 good news, that isn't even the worst-cast bolt I've seen. One of my friends very confidently cast searing spear on their own boros reckoner in order to redirect it to an opponent at 3 in an FNM during RTR standard.

That Rings over Matter deck in round 4 looked pretty sweet.
The 'Level System' ponder your opponent played R1G3 was great.

Mind Over Matter + The One Ring opponent is my hero for jamming sweet 6 mana blue permanents that may or may not win the game.
I still love seeing Jaces and Sorins being played, overpowered 4 mana legendary artifacts be damned.
Jace was actually really good every time he cast him, Sorin did kinda suck though.
No! I just came to the comments saying I sold all my one rings and bought a playset of Sorin because that sweeeeeet game 1 kill 😂
I can’t tell you how happy this kind of Grixis, for want of a better word, Rock makes me.
Watching this video just reminds me of watching GP Reid Duke from 2018 I believe. Grixis is always a great watch
Super glad you got the new setup, that stuff is always exciting! The main issues are the brightness, as well as what looks like some video compression which makes the text less legible. Otherwise great stuff! Glad to see that Grixis can still do its thing.

Say what you want about his viability in the current Legacy metagame, but Sorin the Mirthless will always be OP in terms of Ancient Vaddy energy!

Hey Brian, first thought when hearing about the new space is it’s very echo-y and pop-y. Lots of the p and s sounds had very sharp peaks. Congrats on the new setup! Looking forward to commander sealed in a couple weeks.
As much as I wish it weren't true, The One Ring is just better than 4 mana Jace or Sorin. Pretty obv upgrade here.

This type of Grixis list is what got me into Modern in the first place a long time ago.
Haven't found success with the color combo aside from Death's Shadow, but maybe it's time I make the change to Legacy.
I’d like to add my feedback on the video quality for the new set up: I mostly listen and don’t watch as I have it hooked up while driving from job to job, so I can really only speak for the sound. There is some sort of echo or digital lisp that the mic is fabricating.

Congrats on the new setup! Onwards and upwards on a ‘Roll. Little bit of an audio echo, does your room have bare wooden floors/walls? If so carpet, curtains or other soft surfaces in the room will help
Grats on the setup! The resolution makes the cards look half size during the deck tech and games, very hard to see on mobile though

As a couple people have mentioned -
Brightness was a bit low - it was more noticeable in the deck editor as the white background looked much more grey. Comparing it to yesterday's video, it looks almost half as vibrant.
I'm not sure on video quality as I almost exclusively look at card art to know the cards, so I didn't notice text being any less legible.
Audio (and maybe it is just a me thing) sounded just a little more hollow/echo-y than typical, likely just from room changes. It wasn't distracting, but it was a smidge different than the old room/recording area.
Congrats about the new setup. Text seems to be less readable than normally.
I would think about recording/uploading in a higher resolution now that you better specs.

Any chance we can get videos in 1440p and or 4k? Even on 1080p monitor or TV it ups the bitrate and makes it easier to read card text.

The video seems darker and maybe fuzzier than normal? Also it's zoomed out a bit more than normal, hotkeys and match info are available, but it seems some people have already commented on that.
M1G3 since Humility turns off all your value creatures and makes your clock bad you could boucne your own Borrower to bounce Humility eot and replay Borrower, turn on all your value creatures and improve the clock a massive amount.
I asked myself at which point do you run 1 or 2 reanimates just as a value spell? bc so often you just get a great target from the opponent for free without a huge cmmitment from yourself.

While sople have commented on it being darker a lot, I’m pretty sure it’s the smaller text that’s causing most of the issues. Had never realized that part of why you had such readable mtgo recordings was playing on a small laptop screen all these years.

This deck seems pretty sweet to be honest.
In terms of sound I think you could do with a little more sound proofing foam as your voice was sounding very reverberant compared to your old set up.

I said this as a reply to another comment but I think yhr resolution is too high, if youeither play in a smaller window or scale the cards up bigger it would be much better, since normally it can be hard to read but now the cards (and more importantly their text) being smaller in comparison to the screen along witb youtube compression makes it pretty hard to read
1:05:55 Tbf this might have actually been right since they’ll most likely have protection from everything and a teferi in play for the rest of the game, meaning your best hope was kill tef and then find a 2nd bolt to play in response to them casting another ring.
It would be very neat if the new setup allows you to record and publish the video in either 1440p or 4k. I at least personally notice that youtubes compression makes it significantly harder to read text in 1080p and lower than on higher resolutions where text is usually easily readable

You have some echo in the video. Perhaps fill the room, if it’s a hard floor some rugs.
Vids definitely have a lot less clarity - considerably hard to read any text on the cards.

Feedback: video feels washed out maybe. Like the saturation is a bit low. Like the colors all feel a bit muted compared to normal. And I’m only 30sec into round 1 but I’m hoping you eventually realize you can hide the hotkey pop up using the little arrow on the far right of the pop up. Other than that, the cards are a bit small
