    Yes people, I actually met and talked with Armie for hours at LAX. We both were grumbling through security and he is so gorgeous you have to look at him, you must look!! I asked if he was an actor or model and he sweetly said, "I'm am actor, and when he told me "I'm Armie Hammer, I didn't believe him, so he took his driver's license out and even HIS picture was horrendous. He was very down to earth and so lovely to just be with. And his family is not the same as the cleaning products!

    I think it's convenient to think that bullies always lose out in the long term and that the bullied are the ones who end up accomplishing things, but it's not always true. Nor is it always true that things gets better. Adults can be as carelessly cruel as children, sometimes. Unfortunately, the world isn't fair that way. But the good news is that we can make it fairer, by working against bullying both from children and adults.

      Ι'll agree. Although it's true that most or half the bullies don't end up well (emotionally, socially or regarding success), there are still some that get everything the wanted. And since I'm a person of justice (and a bit vengeful) I'd like to think (and I think it's accurate) that most of them never grow beyond their cruel, immature, insecure selves. I know I sound wicked, but if they caused me and other people so much pain, why should they triumph in life? Of course, there's always that "it's their families fault" thingy. But what if it isn't? I've seen evil people, coming from healthy, kind families. Sometimes it's just adolescence and sometimes they're straight up bored & cruel...

      Yes... life isn't fair. I think Ellen was looking for some hope there but he didn't give any. Junior high is just a rough time for most people... we all had our awkward ages. But he did grow up into a beautiful intelligent man and his childhood undoubtedly gave him depth and humility. It makes him more attractive.

The truth is people haven't changed he has. I have to wonder how many of the people he is around now wouldn't be nice to him when he was in his awkward stage.

      Great point. We can all want to be thinner, more muscled, better looking everything ,that we can change..but Hollywood is in it's own bubble..Beverly Hills alone(just a small percentage of LA population) has the highest per capita plastic surgeons in the world at over 70 for 6 sq miles. LA has more than any place in the world. Women and men start cutting up their faces at 38 years old and some keep going till they look like someone's dunked their faces in hot frying oil. I guess when looks = $$ these actresses/tors justify it. They have their 10s of millions, their cut up faces, and their mansions...someone needs to make a Black Mirror episode about it.

    I have to say the "Bullies become losers" is not always true and dangerous to base your self-evalutation on that. I was bullied for being perceived as gay, I turned out to actually be gay and grew up to be educated with a relatively successful life, and though my bullies don't have amazing lives, they seem to have found success in having families and careers while Im older now and still struggling with that stuff.
    I'm maybe slightly jealous of them and angry because they were supposed to end up being losers like I was told. Good things happen to bad people in this world, and that is reality, but you can still make a good life for yourself if you stick through it, even if you are severely bullied. It does get better.

    • @DavidLari
      @DavidLari 6 років тому +6

      Sounds like you and I had similar experiences. Though I will say some of my bullies did end up with poor fates. One girl who continually made rude comments about me, peaked in high school and went downhill from there. She was a cheerleader then, dating the star quarterback at a rival high school. A decade later, that quarterback was hitting on me. She was drug addicted and later died by O.D. But I know most of the bullies did go on to have families etc. Some with decent jobs if not careers. I think most bullying stems from insecurity. If the bullies overcome that, they can become decent people and have good lives. It just sucks that some of us end up suffering greatly from their insecurities.

    • @LiveTilliDie
      @LiveTilliDie 6 років тому

      I had one bully who actually hit on me in middle school, he just deleted his facebook and I think he's just realized he's gay, I was always waiting if that would happen. But the other ones seem to have lucked out I'd say.

    • @blertaaa
      @blertaaa 2 роки тому

      You’re not wrong but I personally always thought that what goes around comes around one way or another. So let’s say that, for instance, if maybe the people who bullied you didn’t become losers, well, their kids could end up getting bullied. It could be life’s payback. Not saying I wish that upon their kids but people should be careful what they do because if it doesn’t come back to you, someone else, someone you cherish could pay for it instead. And it’s much worse. So at the end of the day, even if you don’t realize it, even if they seem to have become successful and happy, you never really know the entire situation. All you know is that you turned out better than they thought you would, and that, my friend, is all that matters.

    Armie is so brave for revealing this fact about his past. Bullying back then was worse than it is today, because schools ignored it almost as a rite of passage to adulthood. I felt so sad for him because I could see the pain in his face when he relayed his story to Ellen. But look where he is today. He is a warrior, even though he might not think so. I greatly admire him even more as a person for confiding about this difficult and painful period in his life.

      I feel maybe they think they're better than you (the bullied victim) and can say or do what they want.
      I wish for everyone bullied to know it says more about them than you (victim). Unfortunately it's not always how Ellen says, and bullies often do go on to be rich, successful, happy. Some feel remorse for their past actions, some don't, and some are even the same as they were. It's the same as any adult really. Some people grow up, some don't.
      Kid bullies need to have it spelled out for them the damage they can cause. If they don't have it done, they never learn, and the kid gets to go on being scarred by some stupid kids from middle school. This person knows it doesn't matter any more, that it should be let go, but the memories and resulting self from those memories remain. Personal experience here.

      BriBri
       Empathy plays an enormous part in the dynamics of the aggressor. “Bullies (may be) deficient in empathy or even lack it completely.” (Van Noorden, Bukowski, Haselager, Lansu, and Cillessen (2016)). Empathy can be thought of as a “cognitive trait referring to a person’s ability to understand another person’s emotions” (Hogan, 1969 (as cited in Van Noorden et al., 2016)).
      Subsequently, bullying may be viewed as “antisocial behavior” on both ends of the spectrum (aggressor and victim)(Van Noorden et al.). For the aggressor, the anti-social tendencies can include predatory behavior. Also, bullies often have a false sense of importance; as if they have a right to behave accordingly, and treat anyone in this manner. Yet, “the attitude that bullying is a rite of passage cannot continue” (Briggs (as cited in Austin, Reynolds, and Barnes, 2016)).
      The target of the bullying may display anti-social tendencies as well. Perceived overt self-victimization can grow old with peers. Additionally, they may be viewed as not being a team player or potential ally.

      Because of power and control and the only way to stop most bullies is to stand up to them. They often hate to be challenged unless that bully is Mike Tyson ( then you don't stand up , you run and get a gun)

    People do not realize how painful bullying can be to the victim.
    It totally destroys your self esteem and being very young you don't have the life skills yet to realize that your not to blame at all so you believe that it's all your fault.

    @MidnightAndLulu ...and all I was saying is that, against all odds, he seems like a very nice and decent guy. Whether or not he benefits from this doesn't matter to me; what matters is that he does bring it up. And that bullied kids feel a little less alone and are reminded that being bullied doesn't mean there is something wrong with them: "See, kids? Even Armie Hammer has been picked-on. It's not you, it's the bully." And per your reasoning, why would he need to do any of this? He has no need.

    nessecary. Bullying is totally unacceptable.

    I was bullied as a kid as well- and I'm HOT now ! Part of what Ellen says is true- however- I have had MANY of my ex- classmates apologize for the way they treated me- gotta give them some props for maturity and having the guts and moral character to 'own' their dirt....Bully does continue right through college and into adult life-happens in the coorporate world as well... comes in MANY different shapes- its an ugly part of life.....and folks just gotta stand tall against it....

  • @MidnightAndLulu

    @calaftheeast ...and yet, even if that were all true, he was still picked-on. That's the point being made, here. When you look at this guy -- certainly, when kids look at this guy -- most can't imagine him ever being the victim of bullying, but he was. Kids need to know that being the object of someone's ire is not indicative of some defect with them; it is a reflection of something wrong with the bully. The bully has the problem, not those they're tormenting. Kids need to be reminded of this.

    Bullies are losers? Isn’t that a form of bullying? They’re kids too and many are going through their own struggles but don’t know how to deal with it. I was violently bullied throughout my school years, but I don’t wish any of them any ill. I hope they’re better too.

    @calaftheeast What's your damage, calaftheeast? Ok, so, he's very, very beautiful. Lots of very, beautiful young men, were bullied in their youths because society doesn't know exactly what to do with them and they make everyone uncomfortable. Bullying is bullying. Whether it's happening to Armie Hammer or someone else. People who are unique, who tend to "stand out" in any way, are usually the ones who get picked on. Those who are suffering from being bullied should remember how special they are.

    @MDkid1 .....yes- you are correct ! Only thing that stands between good and evil is someone getting right in there and standing for what is right. Did that on FaceBook yesterday and got defriended ( who cares anyhow ) Often times the perpatrators continue to be empowered simply beacuse NO-ONE wants to get involved. Its simple to do- and usually they back down- and maybe learn a lesson !
    (btw...I'm 47 ,5-9, still have my 30' ( ! ) waist, blonde hair, blue eyes and get whistles at the beach ! )

    @superbruce you're so right! It does continue on into all parts of life, even adulthood. People also have to stand their ground, and stop bullying when they see it happening.
    Btw....picture? ;) kidding...but its true though that sometimes funny looking kids (who were bullied) grow up to be gorgeous people (case in point...Armie)...I've seen it several times :)
