@@user-lb9xw4xf2q It wasn't really Isaac, he defended the episode originally and explained that south park makes fun of everyone. His manager issued the statement while Isaac was of poor health and he was unable to walk it back, largely due to the cult he was a part of. Matt and Trey has said that they were still on good terms with Isaac in the last two years of his life even though not publicly. I guess this makes the event even sadder though.
Fun fact: when Professor Chaos goes through all of his plans to General Disarray that the Simpsons already did, one of them was the Sun blocking machine that Mr Burns used. This is because in the season 4 episode "wacky molestation adventure" it was originally meant to conclude with Cartman unveiling a giant sun blocking machine, but then one of the writers pointed out that the Simpsons had already done it which bummed matt and trey out and forced them to change it 😂
@Tconlon251_2 indeed you are right. They were bummed out by that too at first, but then quickly got excited when they suddenly realised that they could make that the whole point of the entire episode 😆
Funny how her name was often pronounced differently, like it was mostly "Choke-sohn-diks" but other times just "Chokes on dick." Or as one time, Cartman called her "Chokes on rocks." haha I feel like they got in trouble for her... shirt shortcomings because they only do that gag in that one episode.
This episode was inspired by the fact that The Simpsons did in fact beat South Park to several plot concepts. In the season 4 episode "The Wacky Molestation Adventure", Cartman was supposed to block out the sun, but one of the writers pointed out that "The Simpsons already did it". The episode "calls out" the obvious observation that The Simpsons have realized a vast number of ideas throughout their long-lived run. Some have found a certain reciprocity to this statement, finding instances of repetitiveness in The Simpsons itself while quoting South Park. I remember at the time The Simpsons crew having a friendly relationship with South Park, like sending flowers to the South Park studios when South Park parodied Family Guy in the season 10 episodes "Cartoon Wars Part I" and "Part II". In 2010, The Simpsons crew congratulated South Park for reaching 200 episodes, with a message reading "Congratulations on 200 Episodes. (We Already Did It.) (Twice.)". Soon after, in reference to the controversies and terrorist threats surrounding depictions of the Muslim prophet Muhammad in the South Park episodes "200" and "201", the chalkboard gag on that week's The Simpsons episode, "The Squirt and the Whale", read "South Park - we'd stand beside you if we weren't so scared".
The snowman coming to life "that one time" is a reference to one of the prototype versions of South Park that Trey Parker and Matt Stone made. It has the four boys, but the colours of their clothes are different, Cartman is called Kenny and both he and proto-Kenny get killed.
Basically their pitch of South Park to the network that they made When they were in College that got Comedy Cneteal to buy it as a series. It went viral before the internet or in the early days of the internet.
I know everyone is recommending Woodland Critter Christmas for the holidays (and you should totally listen, it's awesome), but my favorite holiday SP episode is Red Sleigh Down. It is equally as amazing (and has a great Jimmy subplot).
Lol theyre brine shrimp, when i worked at the aquarium we used them to feed baby fish all the time, theyre eggs can be dried for years and when they come in contact with water theyll hatch
1:24 you folks missed them years! The cartoon wars; Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, South Park, King of the Hill etc. They even crossed over on each other in certain episodes! The good old days 📺
This episode aired during the 6th season (2002) ... right after the Professor Chaos origin episode. The Simpsons were definitely past their prime by then ... but they still put out good episodes every now and then.
I think they explored The Simpsons because on a commentary, Trey Parker said they had a writers' room and he had an idea of the sun being blocked in a plan by Cartman, and one of the team told him of the Simpsons episode, which was a last straw situation because they had often struggled with tackling ideas that were already done, and felt annoyed at comparisons even if theirs was much different.
I heard that commentary to. They made this episode because they would always come up with ideas that they thought were good then someone would say Simpsons did it. Then they did the idea of the sea people city which they thought was original but someone said Simpsons did it. They were crushed but decided to put it in because it fit the episode perfectly.
@@tetsuoakira8294 Well, no. Sam Neill's not in it at all. It was Shannon Elizabeth's first film but otherwise the biggest name in it was Christopher Allport. Yes, there's not a lot of reason that you'd know who he is.
The Snowman coming to life is a reference to their "Spirit Of Christmas" 1992 short film Matt & Trey did which was the first pre-pre version of the South Park kids they did when they were in college. Look up "Jesus Vs Frosty"
I feel Butters’ pain. In high school, I wrote a spontaneous poem that randomly included the words “Chinese K-Mart”. I kid you not, a few months later a Simpsons episode had a character say “a Chinese K-mart” out of nowhere. I also used to say “merry fishmas”, and I think even in thst same episode Mr Burns said “Ho ho ho, merry fishmas”. Felt like the Simpsons were spying on me!
They didn't have a fued with the Simpsons, but they did with Family Guy. You'll have to watch Cartoon Wars. That's the episode when South Park directly attacked Family Guy
I took a small plastic aquarium full of "sea monkeys" to school for show and tell. (About 1971-72?) A girl dropped the aquarium on the floor and that was that.
When Cartman said "Close my eyes and suck it out of a hose" I couldnt help cast a eye at Wolverine back there. Seriously what is that thing aside from Wolvie after a night of binge drinking with Juggernaut?
4:10 aged well, as it always will. Yes, this was a response to people constantly comparing it to The Simpsons and pointing out when an idea was similar.
Dude...last nigh I was watching one of your SP reactions and thinking "I hope they do the simpsons did it episode one of these days" The universe continues to work in mysterious ways lmfao
They made this episode in a direct response to people in the writers room constantly pointing out that their plots had already been covered on Simpson episodes. '4th grade' is the intro to Ms Chokesondik. Also the episode 'proper condom use' (I think it's called) is a good Chokesondik episode.
Please watch the episode 'Pandemic'! It's from 2008, so it's not the pandemic you're thinking of. I don't want to spoil it, but it's one of the best episodes ever.
I saw the first ever episode of The Simpsons when it originally aired in December of 1989, having seen some of the shorts beforehand on The Tracey Ullman Show which my older stepbrother would watch. That was one of only a handful of years out of my 43 that it snowed here in southern Louisiana.
Here's something interesting: The youtube channel, "Great Big Story" did a 18 min documentary about the guy who "invented" the Sea Monkey's. It's actually interesting how he got it all started, as well as what else he was credited with/having a hand in making, along with a major skeleton he had tried to keep buried.
The "When has that ever happened except for that One Time" is a reference to the original cartoon "The Spirit of Christmas" that was the OG South Park that Matt and Trey made when they where in college.
The reason why everyone said do this one before is because this is a continuation of the episode "Professor Chaos" which you two reacted to awhile ago. Remember it ended with a mock "what will happen next" thing? The joke was they revealed everything right then and there, including showing Ms. Choksondik being hauled away in a stretcher.
So the way they seem to "instantly" hatch is that you have three packets. The first is a packet of "water prep" that you have to add like a day or two prior to adding the eggs. This is supposed to help them survive, but in reality, it is just more eggs. So you add those eggs, wait a day or two, and then add more eggs and then soon after they appear to have hatched instantly since you can see the previously hatched ones who have grown slightly. The third pack is food. You feed the ones who hatched first, and they develop faster. Then you see the ones who hatched second grow and you think they had babies, but in reality theyre going to die within a week or two anyways since its a child taking care of them in an environment not sutable for them. It's a huge gimmick.
"crossover" episodes has been around for DECADES, ... even before THEY did it !! ... i think the very first crossover was "The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones"
I had Sea Monkey's. Fell for the advertisement and told Mom I had to have them. Theres a little book and different aquariums with built in magnifying glass and little obstacles for them to "perform" with. They'd grow from microscopic organisms to tiny visible dead shrimp at the bottom of a cloudy tank within a month.
At the start of this episode Stan is referencing an old pre-South Park short that Matt and Trey did before the show's creation that had the boys make a snowman that came to life and went berserk.
That one time with the snowman was referring to their “Santa vs Frosty” short cartoon they did in film school. That and “The Spirit of Christmas” were precursors to South Park.
I watched a documentary on the “developer” of the Sea Monkey ‘toys’ and turns out he was a naxi sympathizer. There are records of him sending the majority of his money down to Argentina - a known spot where many naxis fled to after WW2. When he died they found him in his apartment surrounded with naxi paraphernalia. Even his own son had no idea he was like that. Fun fact: when you pour in step 1 of the packets it already has freeze dried brine shrimp in it but they were suspended in a chemical that makes them colorless, so when you pour in step 2 of the packets it shocks the water causing them to be revealed but if you never use step 2 then you would have nearly invisible sea monkeys in your tank. All that talk about eggs and hatching is just marketing.
Many people started saying South Park were just copying The Simpsons because they couldn’t be original. They also compared Family Guy, too. Saying Seth McFarlene was copying The Simpsons.
No, you were right about Jack frost. There is a family friendly 'jack frost' (dad dying and coming back as a snowman to see his son) and the horror movie 'jack frost' (murderer comes back as an evil snowman). The horror movie one actually has 2 movies. Perhaps you can watch them for the winter season. lol
to be clear, south park creators don't have any beef with simpsons or vice versa. only cartoon they have beef with is the family guy. they made fun of family guy in the two episodes of *cartoon wars* (episode titles). for that south park creators got lot of praises from other cartoon show creators including the simpsons whom sent them a gift basket.
Lmao actually Kacee was right. It was the movie Jack Frost with the killer snowman. There were two Jack Frost movies. One was a killer snowman. The other a family comedy.
Both the Simpsons and South Park camps actually had mutual respect for each other. They treated the "rivalry" playfully, and not really seriously. What is really interesting is that they were both united in their dislike in Family Guy and its brand of humor/storytelling. Matt Groening and the Simpsons camp praised Trey and Matt for completely ripping on Family Guy in the Cartoon Wars special, and their interviews regarding Seth MacFarlane and Family Guy.
This episode was definitely a reaction to people trying to knock South Park by claiming the Simpsons had already done some plot. It wasn't a legitimate criticism since every plot that anyone writes at this point has been done before one way or another; what matters is how you execute it. The Cartoon Wars episodes can be seen as a thematic sequel to this episode, and also were a reaction to people comparing South Park to another cartoon, Family Guy (in that instance, trying to offer praise by suggesting they are similar, which Matt and Trey vehemently rejected).
Incase no one here knows, The Simpsons is on its final season now. The first episode announced it having a gala of all the celebrities on the show through the years. It’s the end of the world
While never really trying to out do each other or even copy each other, both shows and writers always had healthy respect for each other. They sort of bonded after South Park made fun of Family guy sharing similar opinions. Even the writers of King of Hill allegedly sent a letter thanking South Park for making fun of Family guy.
Speaking of Simpsons would be cool if both of you react to some Simpsons episodes (specifically seasons 3 to 8) which many consider the golden age of the show, lots of classic iconic episodes
Basically people were saying that South Park was getting all of its ideas from The Simpsons, which is why they made this episode to say hey The Simpsons have done everything so we're not stealing ideas from them but if our show seems in comparison we didn't steal any ideas from them it's just that they already did it or made that joke, but South Park is original they made this episode of basically troll people who was saying that.
I love South Park this is John Madden from Pawtucket Rhode Island USA happy New Year January 2nd 2025 I love your content keep up the good work and I love those crossovers with South Park and The Simpsons
I think by then, Simpsons had already around 300 episodes so thats why they were saying it was getting harder and harder to seem original from them haha
1:04 The Simpsons was the GOAT. I remember wading through horribly lame segments of The Tracey Ullman show to get a glimpse of the weird, twisted animation shorts that eventually morph into The Simpsons.
We REALLY need to go back to some classic first season episodes or even earlier. We need some episodes with Chef and lots of other classic early South Park stuff!! SO many episodes that created viral catch phrases in their day! S00E02 The Spirit of Christmas Jesus vs Santa (only 5:15 demo that made them famous) S01E01 Cartman Gets an Anal Probe (classic!! and Must Watch for true fans) S02E04 Chicken Lover (another classic that really pushed bounds and gave Cartman a viral catch phrase) S01E04 Big Gay Al's Boat Ride S02E17 Gnomes (another viral catch phrase episode)
One of my favorite episodes and so true since everything the Simpson's did so did some TV show or cartoon did it before. SImpsons did the miniature society which was done on a Twilight Zone before that and was, after the South Park episode, redone on Futurama.
There are two films called Jack Frost about a snowman that comes to life. One is a family friendly comedy about a father who dies and comes back in spirit as a snowman, to spend time with his son and learn to be the good father he wasn't in life. The second is an R rated horror movie about an escaped serial killer who dies and takes possession of a snow man (like Chucky and the doll) and then goes on a bloody revenge based killing spree against those that have wronged him in life. I often wonder how many children got those mixed up- going into it looking to watch the family film only to accidentally end up with the horror movie.

lol when bart took the head of " jedediah springfield" hahaha
Many people started saying South Park were just copying The Simpsons because they couldn’t be original. They also compared Family Guy, too. Saying Seth McFarlene was copying The Simpsons.
Pinewood Derby
Scrotie McBuggarballs
Douche and Turd Sandwich
Best Friends Forever
For that last one, they may need “Mr Garrison’s Fancy New Vagina” for context
No, you were right about Jack frost. There is a family friendly 'jack frost' (dad dying and coming back as a snowman to see his son) and the horror movie 'jack frost' (murderer comes back as an evil snowman). The horror movie one actually has 2 movies. Perhaps you can watch them for the winter season. lol
Now that we are getting close to Christmas, you two need to react to Woodland Critter Christmas from Season 8 (Ep. 14).
to be clear, south park creators don't have any beef with simpsons or vice versa. only cartoon they have beef with is the family guy. they made fun of family guy in the two episodes of *cartoon wars* (episode titles). for that south park creators got lot of praises from other cartoon show creators including the simpsons whom sent them a gift basket.
I was waiting for you guys to watch this episode It’s one of my favorites
4:11 No lies there 🙌
Lmao actually Kacee was right.
Every time you guys upload a North Playground reaction video I look forward to watching it.
Incase no one here knows, The Simpsons is on its final season now. The first episode announced it having a gala of all the celebrities on the show through the years. It’s the end of the world
Season 1-8 felt like a different show with Chef there
1:40 it depends on which Jack Frost you're referring to.
Can't believe you spared time licking those windows
From what I remember they had several episodes of the cartoon wars, where the Simpsons and Family Guy was involved?
While never really trying to out do each other or even copy each other, both shows and writers always had healthy respect for each other. They sort of bonded after South Park made fun of Family guy sharing similar opinions. Even the writers of King of Hill allegedly sent a letter thanking South Park for making fun of Family guy.
Speaking of Simpsons would be cool if both of you react to some Simpsons episodes (specifically seasons 3 to 8) which many consider the golden age of the show, lots of classic iconic episodes
Now I expect you'll do the Red Rocket episode.
You guys HAVE to watch Fatbeard 😂 you two would love that episode.
I just love cartmans outburst against everyone. Immediately from 0 to 100.
I love Anthony’s laugh
Gotta do grey dawn, that episode is one of my favorites and the first episode of South Park I watched lol.
I like how Kacee has pretty much adopted Butters as her son lol
I laughed way too hard at Kacee’s reaction at @4:13
We REALLY need to go back to some classic first season episodes or even earlier. We need some episodes with Chef and lots of other classic early South Park stuff!! SO many episodes that created viral catch phrases in their day!
S00E02 The Spirit of Christmas Jesus vs Santa (only 5:15 demo that made them famous)
S01E01 Cartman Gets an Anal Probe (classic!! and Must Watch for true fans)
S02E04 Chicken Lover (another classic that really pushed bounds and gave Cartman a viral catch phrase)
S01E04 Big Gay Al's Boat Ride
S02E17 Gnomes (another viral catch phrase episode)
You all need to do EARLY Simpson episodes. It was an amazing show in the first 4 seasons.
One of my favorite episodes and so true since everything the Simpson's did so did some TV show or cartoon did it before. SImpsons did the miniature society which was done on a Twilight Zone before that and was, after the South Park episode, redone on Futurama.
Wasn't that the Outer Limits Sand Kings or something like that?
There are two films called Jack Frost about a snowman that comes to life.
One is a family friendly comedy about a father who dies and comes back in spirit as a snowman, to spend time with his son and learn to be the good father he wasn't in life.
The second is an R rated horror movie about an escaped serial killer who dies and takes possession of a snow man (like Chucky and the doll) and then goes on a bloody revenge based killing spree against those that have wronged him in life.
I often wonder how many children got those mixed up- going into it looking to watch the family film only to accidentally end up with the horror movie.
I’m sure the video cover alone would scare them off
and one of the best kelly preston ever looked. loved her in that movie.
I think a show you two would like is "Dan Vs"
This episode is quite the allegory and quite relevant.
Matt and Trey are actually fans of the simpsons and this episode was kind of out of love/friendly frustration that they come up with everything
The way I always saw it was that the rivalry was more The Simpsons vs. Family Guy as opposed to The Simpsons vs South Park.
