Govt Can Look At Guaranteeing Loans Under PMAY To Popularise The Scheme: IMGC's Misra | CNBC TV18

A sure-shot way to stimulate the economy is to encourage housing. It’s a welfare measure that can stimulate capex and consumption. It can encourage sectors like cement, furniture, ceramics, sanityware & consumer durables. Housing is also an employment intensive sectors. Currently, home loans get a tax set-off on the principal and interest paid. Secondly, the PM Awas Yojana scheme has helped construction of 1.2 crore houses in urban areas & over 2 crore in rural areas through interest subsidies. A PMAY 2.0 is widely expected in the upcoming budget.
