MATT!
Do you have a name for your fan base?
-The Vena Vanguard?
Too lame? That was my only idea, if a name doesn't already exist.
Keep up the great content, sir.
Peace.
Squat plug comments aside, Matt, you the GOAT for being so responsive to suggestions from your audience. I was the guy who asked about long form content a couple videos back and this video was great. Would love to see more in the future :) all the best for your meet
This is Matt's video letting us know he got a girlfriend
Its actually an inflatable doll but close enough
@@mattvena226 I thought I was jealous before, but now I'm really jealous
@@MikeDep Should be boyfriend
@@mattvena226 What are your costs for individual training programs?
Is no one going to say anything about Matt stalking low crime suburbs for thrills
Thank you Matt, I very much appreciate these longer takes every time you do them
DEFINITELy taking my notes and taking your words to heart
I've started running and it's helping my work capacity a ton. Just a mile or so twice a week, but it makes a big difference.
Hey Matt, just wanted to say really enjoy this long form content a lot. I think it's definitely something worth investing time into
these longer videos are very much appreciated
I love your videos. Information is awesome. Dry humor is top notch. Genuinely the most helpful and most entertaining lifting content out there. It’s concise too, even in your long from videos
Your long video about programming history is my favourite. Love to see the return of longer form content from you.
I think I needed this at this very moment!
Great video, we love the king from context but the shorts as well
I very much appreciated the video, I’ve been struggling to balance my desire to lift as heavy as possible everyday while also fitting in the proper amount of cardio. I like the long form content better and would like to hear more about what little things you find that work in your training
Glad you made this video. I just started cycling and I’ve been having doubts, thank you for the reassurance.
Cool bro whats your dose?
Love the longer form videos keep it up
I've missed the long form content! I'd love to see more of this in the future.
Great video, I loved your long form content and I'm glad you are doing it again :D
Your dry sense of humor is priceless man lol. Plus you're advice is great 👍
Love these longer form videos
Love the longer content the shorts go by too fast thanks for the motivation to do cardio lol I can say I’ve been avoiding it because I was worried it would kill my gains but you gave me a better understanding about how it can help work capacity 👍🏼
Great video, I have been doing similar for the past 2 months (30-45 minute walks per day). This past week I began doing a moderately intense 1-2 mile jog on my off days. I really enjoy the walks so I can unwind but I also feel stretching out my legs on these walks after a big leg day is very beneficial to my recovery. The jog, as unpleasant as it can be, isn’t so bad when on the treadmill where I can monitor speed, time and distance while watching UA-cam or listening to music without having to worry about cars.
love the video!!
Thanks for the upload
Hi Matt this was awesome thanks so much!
Love the longer form, wouldn’t need these to be super frequent. I would still like one on you explaining your personal peaking process in detail
Love the longer stuff so mycg
Lmao long form = 3 mins now 😂 digging this style tho, training footage with topic/Q&A voice overs breaks up monotony
Thank you very much for a long and informative video!
definitely some useful info here, thanks for sharing
Great take!
Glad to see more long(er) form videos
Another Matt Vena banger
Great content big guy!
thanks matt. very helpful!
Finally somebody talks about cardio, I do cycling 1h per day at 8am and in the evening my lift programm, haven't feel so strong never before.
lucky you getting to workout at 8am, I have to be at work :(
Great video Matt
we want more!
Looking big!
Awesome video 👍🏻
I do like longer format content from you. thanks
Cardio is The HUMBLE way to improve overall health and STRENGTH
Please keep making these
Random positive comment 4 the algorithm because matr prosuxes such great content and I want more of it
Yes specially with big lifts with legs like squats and deadlifts.
More power to you man. Though I can't shake that feeling that your knees are gonna bend and snap whenever you straighten out your legs during that Sumod Deadlift.
Please do more longer videos like this one
Matt da 🐐 no 🧢
Would appreciate more of these longer not-shorts videos. But if that doesn't work with the algorithm, do what's best for ya
Yeah man an hour is a great goal. I’m closer to 30 minutes of walking daily, but I’m also standing a lot of the day and get my steps in. If you’re more stationary just walking after meals is a great way to get some in.
Please do more of these.
Bro I saw you at the sfu gym and was like whole fuck this guy is a monster
My man is strong af, is v knowledgeable and still has airbuds with cords 😂
Appreciate the vid. I've slowly started to add cycling.
Thanks for the longer form video Matt.
Have you only done the one video ( about your training history) talking about your high volume, high frequency training and how you structured it?
Just asking before I do a deep dive into your archives to look for more examples of you talking about it, in more detail
The video was nice but the comment section is super wholesome
Tbh increase oxygen efficiency is good for recovering in between sets, definitely helps
Yes
I enjoyed this video
My coach programmed HIIT 2x a week. I would set the speed on the treadmill to 8-11 speed 20 secs on 40 secs off 8-10 rounds. I've noticed I'm getting faster starting at 8 speed and now on 11. But I haven't noticed any transference to my lifting.
I noticed a huge change in adding 2-3x cardio a week like this when it comes to my hypertrophy blocks
@@blubbermammoth8426 I'm on a hypertrophy block too! What have you noticed?
Started doing cardio only 10 mins before and after my lifts recently, been 3 weeks im already feeling a big difference
Bro hearing you talk without the goofy saxophone made me want to claw my skin off. It just sounds wrong 😂.
Fully agree with this. It helps tremendously with volume tolerance and work capacity. Do you have any tips or systems for restoring work capacity after a long period of sickness eg Covid or a bad flu? I feel like after 2 work sets I'm smoked. My cardio is also in the drain.
The plug lord 🙏
Enjoyed this video thanks Matt, I think I’ll give the night walks a try (they won’t see me coming)
This is great
Is there any tips you have for preparing for your first meet? I have my first one in January and want to know if you have any tips or heads up. Thanks Matt
Time to start doing cardio.
I've started cardio as well. Though I keep it minimal. 2 days / week. Walking and jogging for 30-45mins. I don't know if it will lead to better gains for me with the increase in aerobic stamina but I do it because cardio is good for preventing heart disease.
long form videos form Matt!! more programming video plz!
Nice info.
MORE FULL VIDEOS
Started doing cardio more as well
i started running as well. sis bought me a heart rate monitor. 75% zone 2. 15% zone 3. 10% zone 4-5!!!
I like it 🙌
Long form matt vena video!!!
Leaving a comment for the algorithm, I've been using the elliptical and I don't really like using time goals since I find em boring, but personally I try to do 1.5 miles on the elliptical since I know there is an end goal
I have always cycled and walked 15k steps a day and idk if it helps my lifts but it definitely doesn’t hurt them :)
I agree walking is great. I’m just too lazy to do it because it’s so boring. I wish I could get back into it.
I agree
make an indepth squat bench deadlift tutorial!
I never bought the interference affect for a second when I started lifting and I'm glad, I'm as strong as all my friends who started lifting with me but I can actually like walk without being out breath
My biggest reason for cardio is that it helps me sleep. Just weightlifting doesnt tire me out sufficiently to get a good/easy night's rest. Ideally get it during the day when the sun is out so it can double as vitamin D supply.
Good video vena
2:43 In a city close to Sacramento, CA there was a guy who was doing this for real recently, but luckily the police caught him. He was literally “hunting” people in the dark hours of the night and morning 😮
2:45
Yoooo 😂
I like the slightly longer format. Shorts are nice and all but the time limit sometimes means it's not possible to discuss a topic in adqequate depth or with more nuance.
In return for your efforts, I shall offer you this engagement for the algorithm.
I ❤ matt
What I would always add is that, while we all want to be stronger, a bit of cardio helps maintain longevity. Life is a marathon, not a sprint; a healthy heart will keep us doing what we enjoy for longer.
Threw the Dahmer in to see who watched that long 🤣
I started walking 10k steps a day a few months ago and my lower body has never felt healthier. I feel much more loose and I’m able to get into position much more easily. Back when I was playing soccer and lifting though, my knees were killing me. I feel like easy cardio is great for gains, or at the very least it isn’t detrimental
Been lifting for 20 years
And started doing cardio just recently
Coach Greg is really going to like this
How do you get your squat plug to stay in while running? Mine is always falling out and it's embarrassing.
good vid, lol abt the show insp
I have 2 dogs so I do like 2-4 hours walks every day that at one time I had to stop due to uni work and it showed in the gym. I felt rigid and couldn’t get into positions that otherwise I could easily (mainly squatting felt really shitty)
Would you do any strongman events to mix up training for a bit ?
I like the Linder videos
I was listening to this and like 2 minutes in I was like... dang this is a long youtube short 🤣🤣🤣
Please continue doing long form content, even if it doesn't do as well as shorts it's really a better format for getting into detail.
The fact that the squt plug thing is still going.
Can’t wait for it to go mainstream, seeing “is that a squat plug” in mr breasts thumbnail
what's your squat and deadlift volume like nowadays?
