Mercury 15hp 2 Stroke Outboard Motor Pull Cord Replacement

This video demonstrates the changing of a pull cord on a Mercury 15hp 2 stroke outboard motor. I purchased this outboard off Ebay at a cheap price but could see that the pull cord was frayed and needed replacing. This was evident when I tried to start the outboard in my garden during pre season checks and it snapped.
I knew it was on the way out so had already ordered a replacement cord: The Quicksilver Starter Rope part number: 50-12066Q10. This seemed to fit fine initially but later needed around 10 inches taking off the length as the original starter cord was a mm or two thinner and the recoil didn't have the capacity for the full replacement cord.
