- This is a video of a Japanese mini truck hauling a very large load of wood. It demonstrates how nimble the trucks are in the woods and just what a great work truck they are. This particular unit is a dump. Check us out at Mayberryminitrucks.com.
Kei trucks have always been commonplace in Japan and I had not realized how wonderful they are.I am now proud of Kei trucks after receiving such high praise from people outside of Japan.Thank you.
It's a shame they never sold them in many other places, here in the US a small truck like this would be great as a little work truck. Plus you can even use it as a nice commuter with good gas mileage.
They should be sold worldwide.
Are they safe for highway usage
@@ryanfinley3304Yes. It's widely used here in the Philippines. It's great for businesses. And they're left-hand drive too as we drive on the right side of the road too.
@@ryanfinley3304 For American highways, probably not since the top speeds of these utility Kei vehicles are limited to 60mph at most
Correct usage. These are the tools of the jobs.
Absolutely! The right tools make all the difference...thanks
Utilitarian, compact, efficient and humble.
Far better and more capable and versatile than any UTV in the market. And in many states street legal too.
No doubt, Mini trucks is so much more durable and reliable than a side-by-side. I say that a whole lot more affordable too . we actually got the law passed in North Carolina making Mini trucks street legal. We also petitioned Governor Cooper to sign the bill into law. North Carolina is solid now.
Should be legal in ALL states!
💯 agreed.. 5000 buys good mini. Side-by-side same ability 15,000.. no contest
@@sudmuck definitely
Our family had a suzuki carry for 18 years. Only a 2 wheel drive but we took it into some really rough roads once a week for work in 14 of those years. Its an absolute workhorse.
im from the philippines, and we have been importing this mini trucks for decades from japan, its a WORK HORSE !! its relatively cheap, parts are easy to find, and its very strong .. its may not struggle to achieve high speeds, BUT THE PAYLOAD it can carry is insane .. a variation of it is used as MINI BUS that can carry atleast 16 people, a substitute for JEEPNEYS ... americans may see it as MINI, TINY, UNDERPOWERED! but thats mainly bcos you guys are used to using the american trucks! japanese mini and regular trucks may look smaller, but it does the job pretty well ..
Its so common in the PH that even if an axle breaks in half due to overload, the same axle assembly can be found in an hour or so and can be replaced in as little as 2 hrs. Most common axle breaks are the ones that are made as minibus.
that is very good truck!👍
Ya:) They are amazing
Kei cars are work horses here in southeast asia, they're cheap and easy to maintain than diesel mini trucks.
So true! We really like their simplicity and durability...
Even easier to maintain than most oversized US pickups.
@@selflesssamaritan6417 maintaining Xl american pick up trucks is a waste of money even in large businesses in asia we prefer japanese trucks mainly because of cost of maintenance and reliabilty.
Soo L300 and carry are kei cars then?
@@Real_Britishnah. L300 is considered a light truck since its powered by a 2.5 diesel and has larger dimensions than Multicabs (Kei trucks)
Cheap and reliable and get the job done
What a adorable truck.
Japan💪💪💪
:)
I was shocked at just how useful and practical my 1996 4SWD Hijet is. I backed it through my narrow and very steep side yard and loaded limbs to take to the compost pad at the dump. I piled the limbs ten feet above the bed (not an exaggeration) and tossed three nylon cam straps over the top so I could cinch the load down even with the top of the cab. The limbs protruded eight feet out the back of the bed. I cinched that load with a strap to get it off the road and put a red flag on the back so it was legal on the road. 20 miles with that huge load wasn't a problem.
I drove the Hijet into my sister's back yard and hauled four loads of freshly cut and very heavy water maple firewood, piled well over the bed rails, as full as I could stack the wood. I drove each load 25 miles to a friend's house. That's as much as I'd haul in my full size bed Tacoma when it was new, before the frame rusted in half as a result of a manufacturing defect.
I love my little 4WD Hijet. What American 4WD pickup truck gets 31 MPG? The turning radius on the cab over design is also very short making it very maneuverable, on road and off road. I can do a U turn in a US two lane road. No more three point turns.
True...thay are VERY versatile!
I have a 96 Domingo van (not true kei as it has a 1.2L engine, but almost exactly the same body as a Sambar). It can carry 7 people, can fold the seats into a full bed, or the middle seats can fold into a table with the front seats pivoting 90 degrees to make a picnic table setup or all back sets can be folded down for a full cargo van setup, sliding doors on both sides, all wheel drive and fully capable off-road and on the highway, can sneak through the narrowest gaps and park just about anywhere, low fuel costs, power steering, air con, central locking. The versatility is just off the charts.
Superb little truck!
No doubt...
These trucks are awesome!
I have a Mitsubishi 4x4 and wow I carried up to 1500lbs 😮😊
True, they are incredible work machines. Not much on comfort but they beat side by sides by a million miles...
Nice Triton
American urge to buy a skyscraper of a truck to haul 2x4s from homedepot lol
:) Thanks for checking out our videos Fedora...
I owned 2 Kei trucks and I used it for my soda delivery business 10 years ago. These are tough beasts. Low maintenance. And affordable. Easily customizable
We always have one, and in here its normal for them to carry 1800KGs on road. Offroad it can handle upto 1250KGs.
How much could you tow with yours?
@@lavidawithjoey What a timing, i jus unloaded 2150KGs of flour bags and got home and saw your comment notification.
Drive it to city 35KMs away and loaded 43 flour bags each weighs 50KGs and got back this evening. The weather is cold now a days around 13c in day and falls to 7c at night, so it was easy for the engine to handle that much load.
@@Asadiano1 Incredible detail and response time. I greatly appreciate it!
1,200 works
these truck can't tow, bcs it was not designed to. the small gasoline also provide torque at more than 3500 rpm. My father have one of this in indonesia@@lavidawithjoey
Simple and reliable
Exactly!
Ah yes finally someone uses the right tool for the job and not huge oversized "work trucks'
Many people are looking into down sizing, seeing that mini trucks can haul just as much as a full size truck and use 1/4 the fuel.
i’m surprised they can carry so much weight
Simple explanation
probably more work than the 1500 trucks done in a lifetime
Super mjet e disponoj kerkoj edhe nje tjeter ku mund ta gjej
Of course it works. 70 years ago every car was low powered and the people still used them for the same things as today (work related)
nice
Here in Philippines my father own 6 kie truck but we call here multicab they 2 variations the 6 valves engine and 12valves engine 1993 sence now they are still running
Same bed size as any standard American truck
I just bought one which should arrive in roughly two weeks time. It is a 1998 Subaru Sambar. I subbed to you to keep in touch.
In philippines we use that in hardware carying heavy things
American companies should tap into this market. Imagine a GMC or a Ford mini truck with a 50 hp engine. They’ll fly off the shelves.
I don’t see why they don’t. Maybe the oil companies will get mad. Who knows.
@@bobbyhill4118 because .... um .... unsafe .... no wait loud ... or maybe pollution ? .... nah tbh u gotta be a greasy politician to uphold the laws that made sense 50 yrs ago (look at chicken tax or something like that but it wasn't because of the oil company's this time it also was a disadvantage for oil company's at first )
yeahi know that truck from its from japan and philippines 🚚
Old people in Japan drive light trucks every day on mountain roads narrower than the road in this video.
In Philippines, they are very common since our roads is small.
Nice
Our roads are small yet half of the private vehicles here are buying big ass SUVs and Pick-ups that don't even have space for their own parking spot lol
@@kb-ww1uwTo be honest yea
I want one so bad, currently driving a Nissan Titan XD Platinum Reserve.
That's not such a shabby vehicle you have:) Thanks for watching and for your comment...
Them rear leaf springs could use some helper leafs for the load
In our country we use this mini for 1300kg uphills almost 20 to 30 degree slope road
We have that and same model of yours. They're tough even it is old
True:)
- Suzuki Carry
- Nissan Clipper
- Honda Acty
- Mitsubishi Minicab
- Daihatsu Hijet
The minicab, Suzuki and the clipper are all the same these days. Just rebranded. The Honda has a centred engine while the hijet is lighter than the Suzuki bt faster at 140kph (turbo)
Truck kun?

But wait. It’s not 80000 tons and 4 homes big? How is it functional? - America
I want a Suzuki Sambar Van
Both Suzuki and Subaru make a van and they are nice. We just sold a Subie van over the weekend.
Thats way more than the 350kilos limit
nice 15 mph
Looks like a great tool for a park service to have. Of course state governments would never do something that makes this much sense, they'd have to make it electric or hybrid or something these days
I'm from america that is a nice truck but I prefer powerstrokes
lmao it looks like a native bug lumbering through the woods. I want one of these so bad. The people who actually USE trucks for work like these, and the dumb people who buy big ass Silverado's dont even use them for hauling
They work really well for getting work done:) Thanks for watching
I often rent it to carry bricks and stones.
What is a model name pls.
Plz give a vedio of f6a how to fitting front 4wd and how to convert dc51t to dd51t
I don't want to disappoint but the difference between a 2wd and 4wd is so extensive, you would be better off to sell the 2wd and purchase a factory 4wd.
It’s a. Kei truck
Thanks
Americans can not import these Kei trucks until they are at least 25 years being that's what our laws permit.
So why would you or anybody else in Japan be impacted by the price of dilapidated used work trucks that are over 25 years old?
@@MaximGhost because they buy the exact same trucks you do because they also cant afford new trucks ... suprise they are just as poor as we are if not poorer
海外輸出されているような軽トラックは20数年経っているので、日本で実用車として中古で販売されるものよりかなり古いモデルです。10万以下で買えるような屑軽トラが輸出されているので実際の中古車価格はそこまで変わらないと思いますよ。
how much did you pay?
I don't know
How in the heck does that truck CUT wood? 😅 Does it come with a chainsaw attachment questioned
Nah, people cut wood. Then they haul the woods using these trucks
Not street legal in most areas.
That is not 100% accurate. They are street legal in more states than they are not street legal in...that's good for the people who need to get stuff done in town and back at home... It does help that we got the law changed here in NC and provide you with a clear title but the most important thing is for you to know about the proclivities of your state:) Thank you for watching our video!
I live in Maine where everything is banned and freedom is a joke so they are probably banned too otherwise I would have one
I mean granted just because it can move. Doesn’t really mean it should. The max load on these aren’t even 800lbs
Hey there, not necessarily accurate. Have you operated one? They are more amazing than you would believe! Thanks for watching our videos:)
@@minitrucks literally. Especially if you have the DD51 eg: 5 speed w/extra low gear, 4x4 and extra low it can tow nearly anything within reason
@@minitrucks I pulled a 6x12 loaded with 1500lbs and about 300 lbs of bricks in the back (suzuki sidekick) tires rubbing. Some people just don't know lol 🤷
Can easily carry 1200kg
SUV 🤮
Japanese truck😊
99% of SUV would never go offroad.
That guy on top like that looks like one of those veicles from a game where u should carry a gun at the top
How much weight does the 5 spd EL gear carry for mountainous areas?
More than you would ever believe. There are two answers here, 350kg is the factory capacity (around 800lbs) but in reality people put more than twice that in them (in the woods)
Almost 1 tonne
