So the water table there is only 3 or 4 feet deep? So you don’t tile the land to get excess water off the fields? Very confusing and haven’t quite wrapped my brain around that concept.
It the wet months of the year the water table is very high but come July and August our water table drops quickly so we have to irrigate in our are alot of ground you have to have the ability to drain water off of it and be able to put water on it tile and irrigation play a vital role in these parts
I have been a follower for a long time now , really enjoy your videos , but not sure i would enjoy your hyundia ! , watching you stripping that top soil , does not look its the nicest machine for grading ( bet the old hitachi is more operator friendly ) in the past i was unlucky enough to own a volvo ec140b , then a 315 d cat both numb ! both good machines if you were sat on a heap loading trailers but grading with them would wear you out ! Cool to hear about horizontal wells i just saw a robotic grain weevil on Facebook thought about your video about safety and voids when you where trying to get that stuck door open
As someone from Nebraska, where we have lots of irrigation, this is all new. Everything we have is deep wells, ours are 450ft deep, the steel column sits on shale and supports itself. Some areas have canals that deliver the water from large lakes and will irrigate out of them either with a pivot or furrow watered
@@dirtgrainsteel depends on the area, some are very shallow, less than 50ft in some areas. Water rights are tough to get in some areas, you have to buy them from other areas, mine isnt really hard, but you have to fill out lots of paperwork and deal with the Government to get them. Anything less than 500gpm in my area isnt worth going after because of the depth, most wells in my area were done in the 1970s
Why not go with all steel instead of 2x8s, the screws or nails never work loose. Speaking from experience 40ft wide building isn't really wide enough by the time you get any benches or shelves along the side. As you know a combine with duals is close to 20ft wide. My original shop is 40x50, I put the overhead door close to the sidewall, not centered in the endwall, that gives you room to work in my opinion.
@@dirtgrainsteelI am 50 miles south of Springfield IL and we have been getting poured on since early morning and looks like we gonna get more for tonight and tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing. Great explanations, never knew about horizontal well.
Your welcome!
Great video Brandon and great job of explaining how the well works 👍
What happened to plow day? Drove over and didn't see anyone. Can you please give an update to us out here on youtube who are not on facebook?
We got rained out over night I rescheduled for April 6th but I'm worried we got alot of rain just last night alone

I have been told that you got to go deep in Nebraska for water plus you have to have water rights

Why not connect your well to a field tile ????? Would that supply enough water ???
Way to shallow for the dry months our water table is fairly high until summer and then you have to go deep for water
@@dirtgrainsteel so horizontal wells are deeper then the drainage tiles....
Thank you for the answer
Hope you come back and show the finished well?
Well points
Great description of wells great video thanks Brandon and George
Thank you!
Brandon man I been trying to go back and catch all your older videos. Great content and thanks for sharing-Todd
Thank you Todd!!
How did plow day go? Did you have a good turn out?
Had to cancel it and it's looking like we might have to cancel it for the 6th also
@@dirtgrainsteel to much rain ? Sorry to hear you had to cancel.
@corsairsmitty9691 yes and it just keeps raining!!....it's ok there's always next year if only I could control the weather

Your soil looks like it has a lot of sand in it wonder why
Alot of river sand in this area from years and years ago when the rivers ran wild
Doesn't look like April 6th isn't going to be good for plow day either with all the rain that we have got already
Yeah unfortunately I think it's going to be a no go also
