9 MONTHS IN A CABIN

  • This is the story of my first year in my cabin in Canada's Northwest Territories. We bought this cabin when it needed a lot of work. And that's why we bought it. I love a good project and this cabin will give me years of work. I love that this cabin is far from home. It's nice and remote and it sits on a big beautiful lake with lots of fish. This is just the beginning. Enjoy this diary of the first year.

This recap is so important! I’d only started watching halfway through the winter so it’s fun to see the project from the beginning!

Hi Jay. Thanks for the recap. We truly have a beautiful country. Let’s all hope and pray that we don’t have a fire season like last year. We all have to take care of Mother Earth!!!! More rain please….

Is it really only 9 months since you both bought the cabin? Seems much longer, but just goes to show how much you've managed to achieve in that time! Not least in entertaining all of us and thanks for that Jay. As always, all the best from the UK

Great recap video of the cabin since you first looked at it in 2023, Jay.

Oh J I’m sorry for people who are rude. Today rudeness is the new norm. I enjoy a good recap. And the best part is if I don’t want to watch it I don’t have to. Weird how that works. I certainly don’t need to be a whiner and complain about it. Love all your stuff

Jay this is fantastic. I only found your channel a few months ago. It's very cathartic. Don't worry about any negative comments. Those people likely don't leave their front step let alone try camping at a provincial park nonetheless.

Question for you Jay, at 8:56 after you've turned on the generator, there's a glowing light on the side of the cabin by the ladder on the ground. What is that ? It doesn't appear to be a reflection from your headlamp. Oh and I like the cabin adventure so far. I loved it the best when you get to share it with your child. It's worth every scratch and scar you get from working on the cabin.

I had seen a lot of this on previous videos but enjoyed the summary. Only slight criticism I have is with the audio mixing/levels. If you can bring down the power tools/generator when you are highlighting some of your work it would be less jarring, its just a little loud compared to everything else.
Otherwise keep up the great work!

Hey Jay. I enjoy your videos! Maybe you already have, but I would suggest checking the cast iron kettle you are using to make sure it is safe for cooking or human consumption. Most all new kettles like your is only for adding humidity to the cabin and not for drinking or cooking. Just want to make sure you stay safe!

About pike...years ago my dad and I were fishing at our camp. It was summer. I reeled in my lure and brought across the boat. While I did this, the pike jumped right into the boat after my lure. My dad said...if I hadn't seen that, I would never believed it. Pike are nuts. I call em fresh water sharks 🦈
