I heard this song in a Warren Miller movie. Hearing this song and whatching people ski was magical... made me want to drive up to Mt.Hood... Its somehow inspirational..
The song is still in the original key, so he's not tuning down which a lot of other artists do during radio shows. He may not have been warmed up, but I do hear the strain you're talking about. As as singer, I can also tell that he needed something to drink......his voice got really dry towards the end of the song, but he still did an awesome job!!

NICE! It's very rare that someone singing acoustic/live and dosen't sound like shit. This guy is singing beautifully with out any sound board scrubbing his voice or auto tune tweaking things.

Switchfoot is my favorite band right now, but I can honestly say Jon vocals aren't the best. But it's kind of funny how what we think is music has follow so low that he could be considered a "great singer". The most I'll give him is that he is a good singer.
