I have flown full size gliders for over 40 years and now own a self-launcher with 69' wingspan. All our gliders are now mostly carbon fiber and painted white to reflect sunlight and not heat up above the temp limits for the vinyl or epoxy esters being used. Why is this model all black? It has to get awfully hot just sitting in the sun.
I subscribed to your channel. Good move to put your content on youtube. I had a German made Nova F3J fly against the Vixen F3J V tail version and it is an excellent flying plane. Please do a build log online and show what does and does not work. Do you fly with separate batteries for the motor and the receiver ? How crowded is the fuse ? How sturdy is the plane overall.
Vixen 2 build is very straight forward and conventional, only the servo tray for elv/rdr is unusual though not difficult to install, see part 2. Not going to do a build log, just will show assembly points of this particular model which is 95% the same as all other e-gliders. I sell highly detailed professional building videos which cover all the skills required for these gliders www.radiocarbonart.com. I recommend the F3X Building Clinic and the Electric Sailplane Clinic #3 to learn all of the steps needed to safely build, tune, and test any modern e-glider. I use a separate Castle SBEC for power though with the small motor packs, may add an additional receiver pack depending on MAH used for the short 30 second motor runs. Fuse has room as servos are in the tailboom
Wings are hollow spread tow and very rigid. You can order the plane any way you want it, SUSA offers discounts if you order servos and motor system. Contact them and see what deal you can get.
Hi Paul, Don't know if you remember me. I purchased a number of your videos. They were very helpful. The 4M explorer I bought ( not from you) was 90 oz. So I sold it and have been looking for a molded ship for 2 years. JBenz, makes the Explorers look so good. BUT.. I hear that the Vixen 2 is quite the awesome flyer. I have yet to see one in flight that I could see/ learn much. I sure hope you do some great videos of the Vixen 2. It is on my very short list. Also, I think the Cruciform tail will track better at landing speeds, what do you think? Maybe you could compare and contrast the Vixen2 to other top shelf similar planes? I want to thank you for everything you do to help us be better at this. Folks like me, literally are in the dark as NO soaring goes on around here. Sub'd a long time ago. Cheers, David! BTW, I am building a 3.5M Yellow Jacket. Life got in the way or it would have been finished. Have you flown the YJ? How would it compare to the Vixen2?
I built and flew the F3J version and it is a magic plane, the V2 flies the same. X tail is always a bit easier to tune, and at low thermaling speeds, a wash as far as aero efficiency. This plane is better than you! Not flown a YJ. Most of the top planes are comparable, Vixen is priced very low for what you get.
My word that's a thing of beauty. We need to start building our own high performance RC sailplanes in this country. I know it's a matter of economics but I would be willing to pay $150.00 more. In this day and age, getting anything from China is becoming a huge risk. I'm getting nothing from over there. No prop blades, servos, heat shrink tubing etc. Even RAM for PCs takes about two months. We need reliable hobby services once again in this country.
That rudder looks almost like a sunburst guitar finish! Nice stuff!
Thanks for sharing Paul.

@@pnatonThanks for responding Paul! Will you be posting a video of your Vixen2 Flying?
