Okay. So the first sentence states that the second sentence is true, and the second sentence states that the first sentence is false. So if the first sentence says that the second sentence is true, but is proved false, that means the second sentence is true, meaning the first sentence is false and the second sentence is true.

There is a logical answer for every paradox. But if there is a logical answer for every paradox, then there is no such thing as a paradox. But if this itself is a paradox, then there isn't a logical answer for every paradox, making this a paradox.
MrFluffy But there isn't an answer to the idea that there is an answer to every paradox. Or is there? Because if there isn't an answer, then that is a paradox, but then that is the answer meaning that there isn't such thing as a paradox. But then that would be a paradox ...
Oryon I clearly understand paradoxes better than you if you believe that the first statement of a paradox has to be true. Paradoxes are never true to begin with. Matter a fact there is no such thing as a true paradox. Every paradox either starts with a make-believe scenario or a non-factually based assumption. If you truly believe that, you'd better google some paradoxes ...
If replicated to the quantum level , it would still count as the original apartment. If you create quantum replicas if the objects in your apartment , they would logically exhibit the exact same features (at least from any measurable perspective) as the original objects. The original apartment and the quantum copy of your apartment would be analogous to a entangled pair of particles , where the copy is the original , but the original is also the copy.... Unless i am wrong of course...
XCIIBdub Why? It was quite clear that I didn't mean it was literally ages ago. I was just saying he was already completely fine long before Alex Corsair wrote his comment.
all of those paradoxes are basically crafted. they only exist within the framework of our symbol languages, but in fundamental reality, there are no symbols - no labeling, and since those paradoxes only arise when trying to label things, they are solely our creations. so in other words, coming up with those paradoxes is basically coming up with paradoxes for the sake of coming up with paradoxes... which I'd consider an endeavor with very little merit, but I guess we all have some strange hobbies, so no judging. ;)
+Holger Kelz Well, the last one is little different. It's more about a definition of 'me', which is a big philosophical problem. Also, it was mentioned in Star Trek Enterprise, where some people just refused to use teleporter, beliving it would kill them and replace with their clones.
I wouldn't say all of them fall under this category. I believe most are created because someone tries to find absolute truths about concepts that vary, which isn't possible. Some may consider the boat that was disconstructed the same as before, some won't, that a matter of perception and opinion. Although valid, to question what one considers as "the" something is a flawed question in cases such as these. I have to agree with you on the autologocal and heterological part though.
Yeah, nice point. But I think that these kinds of paradoxes do have value because all those 'labels' are to do with how humans connect and interact with the world.
bleh mehm CGP Grey made a similar video two days ago. Which made Jake unsure whether to post this video, which is his great comeback. Lots of drama, but in the end everything went along smoothly.
Yes. If there is something blocking the road, obviously the car in front would be "first". However, traffic jams when there are just too many cars on the road are caused by people slowing down. When one car slows down, it usually causes the car behind it to slow down and so on. When enough people have slowed down, traffic "backs up". Whoever the first person to stop is the first in the jam. Only get hets out of it very quickly, while the rest of the drivers behind him are screwed.
+Best Tastes can't a paradox be philosophical ? you know for as long as science has existed philosophy has accompanied it.. truly the field of logic is half mathematical and half philosophical. so I hope you're not thinking these paradoxes are vague and unscientific, they have strong implications in science. for example the ship of theseus, or what makes the identity of something. if you can't answer to that, how can you assume that two objects are identical ? then, how can you count them ? the very notion of counting things is to admit that they're identical. like 4 bananas is always 4 bananas. but in the real world, if you take 4 bananas and 4 other bananas, they will not be identical. in mathematics the equal sign hides a little secret : "equal" things don't necessarily mean things are identical, but that they can be reduced to identical properties. it's the nature (and extent) of this reduction that the ship of theseus tries to clarify.
Well if u yes to solve a paradox and it made you more confused are u still the same person than b4 watching it or are u no longer u, and maybe u said no to the paradox. LOGIC (I actually don't know what I'm saying)
vernonclassic Yea, probably... So you are just one more of those "people like you" folks, who make smart insults about others and point the finger all day just to feel like they are somebody... To how many people have you typed those exact words today? Your comments are on the level of a third grader, you didn't even touch what I was trying to say, may be you didn't understand it that well...
The paradox of the heap has me confused in real life. Whenever I get a heap of money, I think each bit I spend doesn't really reduce it so I spend a bit here and a bit there and then a bit and another bit and . . . no more money.
+Chris G It's not really a paradox it's just a vague word. If we come up we a minimum and maximum amount of items or volume to form a heap then it's just a range of amounts. It's like 6 cows are "several", if you add 1 it's still "several", if you add another it's still "several" until eventually you decide to cut the term to an arbitrary amount in which case it is now "many".
+vitorsly Sure, the paradox disappears when we put specific numbers to amounts. Counting with numbers must have originated as a smart way of making one amount distinguishable at a glance from another (or an amount at another time) which otherwise look pretty much the same. One heap looks like another, but 256 is obviously different from 257. Numbers are like a kind of magnifying glass for the present and a telescope for knowing the future. Trouble is I don't always want to know.
I told Theseus’ ship paradox to my grandma years ago and she responded (very quickly) “as long as it has the same name, a ship is it’s name.” It’s really funny bc I think as long as the replaced object retains its identity, whether self identity or one given to it, it is in fact the same thing. So I think a person who is broken down atom by atom and replaced completely is more the same person than someone who has no brain activity or multi personality or any number of things that could cause u to lose your identity
Awww GoD bless you !!! I wish you all the best and I truly hope that you had a successful recovery journey . When in early stages as in your case I believe , it's treatable !
raise your hand if your not raising your hand *raises* *lowers* *raises* *lowers* *raises* *lowers* *raises* *lowers* *raises* *lowers* *raises* *lowers* *raises* *lowers* *raises* *lowers* *raises* *lowers*
Its not a paradox... If someone isn't raising his hand while reading this question then he raise his hand, after that nothing tells him to put his hand down
I find the pinocchio paradox interesting, Imagine if he said "My nose will grow now" if his nose does not grow he is lying so it will grow, but then that will make it truth.... so in turn it should not grow... but again that will make it a lie... so it should grow.
It will grow incrementally, perhaps an inch of instantaneous growth a couple times per second, until eventually it gives up and explodes with the power of the Tsar Bomba.
OH HO HO that was VERY sneaky there Vsauce putting that last paradox in at the end ;) When does a person actually become a person? At what point do these little lumps of cells become what we consider a human? But now you don't have the backlash of actually saying it Nice
"When does a person actually become a person? At what point do these little lumps of cells become what we consider a human?" Kinda relating to when jake talks about a when a heap is no longer a heap or when a grain of sand is no longer a grain of sand. Does that help?
This was something that came up today in a discussion with a friend(hence why I find myself here; I wanted to see other ideas about the "Ship of Theseus" paradox) and I gave my answer on the subject. My answer was that identity is a title given to a polymorphic collection of things and that collection of things comes with a signature. The signature being details about its composition and location in space and time, and the sub-things that make up the whole thing have their own identities formed by their own compositions and signatures(Call them sub-identities, sub-compositions, and sub-signatures). All of these properties combine to form the identity of the thing in question, such that as any one thing changes a new version is produced. Now while this identity versioning is constantly changing we don't always consider it. For example, an object might be version 1.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0 and then a subtle change creates version 1.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.1 but to us it's just version 1.0 or even just version one. It's not until more significant changes occur, usually, that we begin to acknowledge a change in version; such as version one-point-two. In the case of being disintegrated in one location and reformed in another location perfectly we we have to acknowledge a significant amount of changes occurred in the signatures(again based on not just composition but space and time). Therefore a new version was produced. So to identify something as the original is entirely a matter of personal perspective because in reality we're not...
A heap ceases to be a heap when its parts exist in a single layer, and when you can count them, or at least begin to count them and be confident that you can finish, at a glance.
Ok, so if we started from that point that you just said: A single layer, you can count them, confident you can finish at a glance.... now just add ONE. SINGLE. Grain of sand to that, and it becomes a heap? One single grain of sand would really make that much of a difference? That's where the paradox comes in. You can never get to that defining moment when it transitions to a heap, because that means it's only one grain of sand different... which is barely noticable. =P
It's still not a heap to you, but it might be a heap to the next person.Or you might leave and come back, and re-evaluate your ability to count the grains, and find yourself a little intimidated. That exact point, the point at which anyone takes a fresh look at the sand after ONE. SINGLE. grain of sand has been added and concludes that they probably couldn't count the grains, is the point at which the heap is defined, especially if it's pushed together so that it's no longer in a single layer.
But still, let's say someone is at that point where they don't think they could count it, so they call it heap. If you tell them to close their eyes, and then you remove one single grain of sand, they won't even be able to tell the difference when they look again. They'll still call it a heap. Especially if you don't tell them if you actually took a grain away.
So how is this a paradox just because people can't agree on the number of grains of sand, which we can't count, make up a heap? "Heap" is a very general term, a visual one, one that I would say by definition is something that isn't counted.
If Pinocchio says "my nose will grow now". Will his nose grow? Or not grow? If it doesn't, that means he's lying and it will grow. But that would mean he was telling the truth, so it wouldn't grow, which will mean he's lying...
+Cheesy Izaak no paradox here, If Pinochhio says 'My nose will grow now' he is lying because normally his nose wouldn't grow. Now after he's told that lie his nose will start to grow.
You know, I knew I was nerd, but the fact that I have heard of and had the pages for all of these problems/paradoxes bookmarked on my phone since freshman year really pushes the fact home
The way you solve the heap paradox is through an agreed upon unit of measurement. Otherwise a heap is relative. What you might think as a heap might not appear as a heap to me. IT is relative to the observer,
paradox can occur when we fail to see a bigger picture. we read your comment with the concept that something can either be true or false. We restrict ourselves to the question. Which one is true?
+Ashley Carruthers The first line says the bottom is true. The bottom line says the top line is false meaning the bottom line is false. Since the bottom line is false it means the first line is true. Now this cycle will go on forever unless someone corrects me and shows me the end. Please if you find a end and can prove it show me it.
Idk Jake is more cinematic than Michael and is less math than just theory and logic than just general science and when it is science it’s extremely specialized and less known about
Yeah. I thought that was strange, but I figured it HAS to be something that was already more seriously revealed in one of their past videos or something. Has to be. I doubt he would tell his fans like that.
Urban Kitsune But if you use a microscope (and have enough time) you can actually count every single grain in a heap, does that mean a heap does not exist?
Alexis Jasso well then that specific heap is no longer a heap, but the next time you take a handful of sand, that is a heap. A heap just means an amount of something that you don't know the exact quantity of, so considering the next handful of sand you take is not the exact same amount as the one you counted, it's a heap.
The size of a heap is determined by your perception of the world. It's you trying to apply scale to something uncountable (as in it is not practical to count it). It's not about how many grains a heap consists of, it's about how big the sandpile is compared to something else. We are all different and have different perceptions of things. So the very definiton of heap will vary from person to person.
heterological is like a finger you point on something - the finger can point on many things, but it can´t point on itself, because "it is the pointing".
@Pseudo Lain Wow nice I like that answer. I may have a rebuttal, something about left/right, but like I said I like that answer so let's leave it at that. b(^.^)d
+Gas Station Bathroom in Nevada If the brain is where our consciousness (and much more) reside, then yes. But the brain could simply be the processor of our body and nothing more. If you only change the processor (like in a computer) then you still have your operating system and all your memories.
the movie "Fly" (about a man going through a teletransportation device with a fly and they merge) it uses the same process you described in your paradox
+Ben Apsley I feel like Jake is probably not the kind of guy to be particularly bothered by a cancer diagnosis. Just another opportunity for creativity!
i THINK he meant something akin to "fast forwarded" 10 billion years. and he would still be wrong me thinks because even if it happened to all life, noone would be aware of it, and thus no maintanence on anything would be done for 10 billion years...
+Immajeanyus Or a clone of a failure? Which is worse, because then you didn't get a choice in the matter, but are just intensely empathizing with a previous version (or multiple) of yourself that made you a failure. At least you could take solace in the fact that you'll be replaced by another clone tonight, who will feel what you feel now. But you will feel nothing, because you'll be gone.
+Little Miss Funny It is true that this statement is false. My answer to the question (true) doesn't change the statement saying that it itself is false. I'm joking... kind of. :D
Bizorke YAY! Here is goes: If you believe that the statement is indeed false, then it reads as true considering the statement is "This statement is false". But then if the statement is true, then it must be false as the trueness would be it's falseness? I guess that makes sense, but thanks for letting me explain
This is actually the reason why I have already decided that, if teleportation is developed during my lifetime, I will never use it. It might be possible that the person coming out is me in every way and no one could tell him apart from the person who went in, because they are identical, also with everything that goes on in their head, but regardless of that, I'm dead. I could end up in heaven after dying in the machine, looking down at myself leaving the other machine, or an identical copy of myself leaving the other machine. Obviously, this would be the best case scenarion. The worst case scenario is that everything is just over. I _cease_ to exist while this identical me takes my place, the last thing I ever do is enter the teleportation machine. No one could ever tell it happened, but it is possible. That's why I never want to do it.
JustusLM if you were killed and recreated like he purposed, you wouldn't remember anything. It's the residual microelectric charges (I believe) that give you your memories and whatnot. Those things cannot be recreated, your nerves can, but not the memories. The channel Film Theory has a video talking about how to kill deadpool, and it goes into this fact.
Actually, they can. If every quantum particle inside your body is recorded as well as its state, this will automatically include all electrical and chemical impulses.
Jake I would like to direct you To one of Film theorists videos "How do You kill deadpool?" in that video they bring up the point that thought is not physical so if you were to be destroyed in one location and rebuilt in another that other "you" would have to be a completely new entity with new experiences making who they are.
That was implying regrowing the brain, in which case it would not have the same memories. If you copied the brain at an atomic level, with electronic interactions preserved, you would both maintain all the previous memories and conscious thought between the two bodies.
+50euros I dont think so. Last time SciShow and DNews did a vid about "the uncanny valley" where robots who become too human-like start becoming creepy to most ppl
"Ghost in the shell" is about existentialism, is about what makes you? is your body you? your memory? both? none? how do you know if your memory is made up or lost but you still have your body, are you still you?
Here is the solution to the Grelling-Nelson paradox. The only classes of words that are autological are nouns. For example, to say that pronounceable is pronounceable is illogical because the adj. "pronounceable" is being treated as a noun. In other words, what you really mean is that the word "pronounceable" is pronounceable, not that pronounceable is pronounceable, which is incorrect syntax. The word heterological is an adjective, not a noun. Therefore, the phrasing of the problem breaks the rules of logical syntax
Lets get a bit deeper into the last one: If you were scanned to rebuild you at another location ( teleportation) but not destroyed at your first location. With which brain would you think ? Are you two times the exact same person? And living in the exact same time? Would YOU control both bodies or only one ? And who is the other then?
think of it like two different laptops of the same model. They don't control each other and they are seperate entities but they have the capability to perform the same functions as eachother. depending on how you treat them, they change accordingly. In the teleportation machine, you would be killed off forever but the new you will be identical and have the same memories as before. No one else will know about your death as YOUR original consciousness will be destroyed but a copy would be kept in the "clone".
I think that the 'created one' would have the same memories as you, so he would think "I was teleported, the one that stay is a copy". You that stand in the same place would think "he is the copy". Your brain (player 1) will control you, and he would have another (player 1) that thinks you are the fake one
GlobalGasp The teleported you wich is basically a clone is just like you. The clone would know he has been teleported and knows he's basically a clone because he knows you wanted to teleport yourself somewhere. The clone would be like you as if you were teleported to your destination. He would life exactly like you would do if you were there because he's like you but you don't know anything about his life there (unless you get a connection the normal way: telephone, chat, letters etc.). You're not somehow magically connected to him. You would just walked out of the teleportation/clone machine like nothing happened. Nothing on you would be changed but you would know there is a clone of you who knows everything you know. Tl:dr You're still you but the teleported you is also you until the moment he was created. At this point he's just like you but not actually you. The past of the clone before he was created was actually your past.
I have made a sort-of paradox: go up to a friend or just someone you know and say you want to make a bet if they agree to the bet tell them that you bet something (probably money) that you will lose the bet. This way since nothing has happened as the bet was you will lose the bet, you have not lost which technically means you have won but the fact that you have won means you have lost and you are caught in a never-ending cycle.

Okay. So the first sentence states that the second sentence is true, and the second sentence states that the first sentence is false. So if the first sentence says that the second sentence is true, but is proved false, that means the second sentence is true, meaning the first sentence is false and the second sentence is true.

***** Or is that a paradox ...
You wasted your timing overthinking everything just because you came up with the idea that there IS an answer for every paradox.
MrFluffy But there isn't an answer to the idea that there is an answer to every paradox. Or is there? Because if there isn't an answer, then that is a paradox, but then that is the answer meaning that there isn't such thing as a paradox. But then that would be a paradox ...
Oryon
I clearly understand paradoxes better than you if you believe that the first statement of a paradox has to be true. Paradoxes are never true to begin with. Matter a fact there is no such thing as a true paradox. Every paradox either starts with a make-believe scenario or a non-factually based assumption. If you truly believe that, you'd better google some paradoxes ...
When you have nothing better to do, the best thing to kill time with is
*thinking about paradoxes.*

I'm reminded of the Stephen Wright joke, "I came home one night and everything in my apartment had been replaced with an exact replica."
Unless i am wrong of course...
im sorry jake, get better
he got the tumor removed ages ago
alex Corsair I at first thought that was an insult😂😂
XCIIBdub ever heard of the word hyperbole
XCIIBdub Why? It was quite clear that I didn't mean it was literally ages ago. I was just saying he was already completely fine long before Alex Corsair wrote his comment.

I have a paradox. Sort of. What would happen if you read someone's mind, but their also reading your mind.
whos mind are they reading? yours or themselves
***** So person A is reading person B's mind, and person B is also reading person A's mind
you would read that person's mind that you read in his mind that he reads in your mind that you read his mind etc. etc....
You both explode
Nothing. If I read your mind, and you read mine, I would simply read my mind and you would read your.

i was surprised how he speaks about it, very confident. great guy
I was like.."wait is he joking?"
all of those paradoxes are basically crafted. they only exist within the framework of our symbol languages, but in fundamental reality, there are no symbols - no labeling, and since those paradoxes only arise when trying to label things, they are solely our creations. so in other words, coming up with those paradoxes is basically coming up with paradoxes for the sake of coming up with paradoxes... which I'd consider an endeavor with very little merit, but I guess we all have some strange hobbies, so no judging. ;)
Amen
+Holger Kelz Well, the last one is little different. It's more about a definition of 'me', which is a big philosophical problem. Also, it was mentioned in Star Trek Enterprise, where some people just refused to use teleporter, beliving it would kill them and replace with their clones.
Are you saying that the paradoxes are paradoxical themselves? You my friend, are a a paradox making genius!
But I think that these kinds of paradoxes do have value because all those 'labels' are to do with how humans connect and interact with the world.

is it possible to be the first car in a traffic jam?
Nicole orriëns Have you never driven slowly or had to break suddenly? xD
Yup. It's the car all in pieces. Or the fire truck.
Yep, my record is a 15 mile traffic Jam for 45 minutes..
Yes. It's either one of the two cars in the accident who is first in the traffic jam. Or it's the very first car stopped in front of the accident.

+Best Tastes THANK YOU
Your smart
+jzpcbuilds grammer nazi alert
+Best Tastes All of them in fact.
I think of things like this all the time and confuse myself.
I thought this video will answer me and stop the confusion.
I was wrong.
+Zsolt The Gamer You wanted the video to solve a paradox?
Yes
Well if u yes to solve a paradox and it made you more confused are u still the same person than b4 watching it or are u no longer u, and maybe u said no to the paradox. LOGIC
(I actually don't know what I'm saying)
+Zsolt The Gamer Those are not real paradoxes so you don't have to worry :) They are just made up by people who had too much free time...
vernonclassic Yea, probably...

Whenever I get a heap of money, I think each bit I spend doesn't really reduce it so I spend a bit here and a bit there and then a bit and another bit and . . . no more money.
haaahaHahaha
+jimmyfly you sound like an arrogant college freshman.
+Chris G I call it the "steam summer sale" paradox
I told Theseus’ ship paradox to my grandma years ago and she responded (very quickly) “as long as it has the same name, a ship is it’s name.” It’s really funny bc I think as long as the replaced object retains its identity, whether self identity or one given to it, it is in fact the same thing. So I think a person who is broken down atom by atom and replaced completely is more the same person than someone who has no brain activity or multi personality or any number of things that could cause u to lose your identity

I find the pinocchio paradox interesting, Imagine if he said "My nose will grow now" if his nose does not grow he is lying so it will grow, but then that will make it truth.... so in turn it should not grow... but again that will make it a lie... so it should grow.
It will wait a while, just long enough for it to become oddly timed if it were to grow, then it will grow.
It will grow incrementally, perhaps an inch of instantaneous growth a couple times per second, until eventually it gives up and explodes with the power of the Tsar Bomba.
Carah Amelie
Its just like this one:
The next line is telling the truth.
The previous line is lying.
Carah Amelie lol yo mama thought of that LITERALLY The channel YO MAMA THOUGHT OF THAT

OH HO HO that was VERY sneaky there Vsauce putting that last paradox in at the end ;)
When does a person actually become a person? At what point do these little lumps of cells become what we consider a human?
But now you don't have the backlash of actually saying it
Nice
WOW! did not catch that!
Yes, very sneaky indeed!
Clever Jake.
Woah, that makes sense. I didn't get the meaning of that last part.
Can you please elaborate?I didn't quite get it
"When does a person actually become a person? At what point do these little lumps of cells become what we consider a human?"
Kinda relating to when jake talks about a when a heap is no longer a heap or when a grain of sand is no longer a grain of sand. Does that help?
+OzoneZoe Ohhhhhh well that was sneaky. Thanks for the help!
'MUSIC DURING THE INTRO'
It's "summer" from "Vivaldi's 4 seasons". That particular part that he played is near the end of the piece.
thank you
thanks alot
Title should How to make you head ache in 7 minutes
Frid I'm glad you enjoyed the other 25 seconds
Charlie Diamond XD
Well that title would fit every single vsauce video more or less
A heap ceases to be a heap when its parts exist in a single layer, and when you can count them, or at least begin to count them and be confident that you can finish, at a glance.
Richard Collins when tho?
Wish you health dude, you remind me so much of a young bill neil :)

If Pinocchio says "my nose will grow now". Will his nose grow? Or not grow? If it doesn't, that means he's lying and it will grow. But that would mean he was telling the truth, so it wouldn't grow, which will mean he's lying...
genius
+Cheesy Izaak no paradox here, If Pinochhio says 'My nose will grow now' he is lying because normally his nose wouldn't grow. Now after he's told that lie his nose will start to grow.
+Jones Corzlus and when it grows, it means he's speaking the truth
+Isaac Calderón Blanco
that's the paradox
how can his nose grow when he is telling the truth
Hes always explaining. he wants to prove to people that he is trustworthy and that he deserves to be changed into a real boy.

The way you solve the heap paradox is through an agreed upon unit of measurement. Otherwise a heap is relative. What you might think as a heap might not appear as a heap to me. IT is relative to the observer,
The bottom line is true
The top line is false
Hate you for that
paradox can occur when we fail to see a bigger picture. we read your comment with the concept that something can either be true or false. We restrict ourselves to the question.
Which one is true?
love it when ppl just witch up stuff from portal
+Ashley Carruthers The first line says the bottom is true. The bottom line says the top line is false meaning the bottom line is false. Since the bottom line is false it means the first line is true. Now this cycle will go on forever unless someone corrects me and shows me the end. Please if you find a end and can prove it show me it.
Hey guess what no one cares about the same shitty thing jut make a new paradox be creative use your brain
I'm impressed at how much he can imitate Michael's style.
Idk Jake is more cinematic than Michael and is less math than just theory and logic than just general science and when it is science it’s extremely specialized and less known about

a heap is an undetermined amount. so its a heap until you count it
or can count it
Urban Kitsune But if you use a microscope (and have enough time) you can actually count every single grain in a heap, does that mean a heap does not exist?
Urban Kitsune
heterological is like a finger you point on something - the finger can point on many things, but it can´t point on itself, because "it is the pointing".
Tuto Rial I mean it can curve and point at itself slightly if you try
Ah...yes ...But if you curve your finger is it considered a 'pointing finger' at that point
Aim it at a mirror and you'll find the finger pointing at itself :)
@Pseudo Lain Wow nice I like that answer. I may have a rebuttal, something about left/right, but like I said I like that answer so let's leave it at that. b(^.^)d

The sand heap paradox is just a matter of semantics
sandmantics
I think once an ratio of height to width for the sand is reached we can call it a heap. Even like 1 grain tall to gains wide or something.
How's that. A comment is made, I see it one year later, and have been beaten to the sandmantics pun by only 4 days
And gradual change in physical/chemical properties
I think if the sand is stacked then it's a heap, so three grains stacked would qualify as a heap. But it's just my opinion, I might be wrong.
He was really enthusiastic about having cancer...
Sometimes in a bad situation, all you can do is try to be happy.
Yeah...
+Ben Apsley I feel like Jake is probably not the kind of guy to be particularly bothered by a cancer diagnosis. Just another opportunity for creativity!
You should watch his personal channel... you'll understand that he's not enthusiastic.
+Ben Apsley Does he really have cancer?
Believe you made the video 'Causal Loop' in this same house.

How do you know that for every second that passes by time freezes for 10 billion years before resuming?
Wow...
Try again
If time froze how could there be 10 billion years of time there would be no time.
THIS GUY
i THINK he meant something akin to "fast forwarded" 10 billion years. and he would still be wrong me thinks because even if it happened to all life, noone would be aware of it, and thus no maintanence on anything would be done for 10 billion years...
"When you wake up in the morning how do you know you're the same person as when you went to sleep?" Because I'm still a failure.
i can relate :/
+Immajeanyus Or a clone of a failure? Which is worse, because then you didn't get a choice in the matter, but are just intensely empathizing with a previous version (or multiple) of yourself that made you a failure.
At least you could take solace in the fact that you'll be replaced by another clone tonight, who will feel what you feel now. But you will feel nothing, because you'll be gone.

True or false?
This statement is false.
+Daniel Plays Games Just so you know, I'm not trying to antagonise, I just like teaching people things. Do you actually not get it?
BOTH!!! NO...TRUE...no....FALSE....PARRRAAAADOOOOXXXX
+Little Miss Funny It is true that this statement is false. My answer to the question (true) doesn't change the statement saying that it itself is false. I'm joking... kind of. :D
+Matthew Peers Sounds like you want to explain it. You don't need to ask permission.
Bizorke YAY!
Here is goes:
If you believe that the statement is indeed false, then it reads as true considering the statement is "This statement is false".
JustusLM Now we just need to figure out how to create a wormhole that _wouldn't_ kill everyone in its vicinity.
Also, *cease .
Its like prestige
Way to literally repeat the video
I did not need an existential crisis today Jake.
Came here after watching the last episode of wandavision.
I've been waiting for this since that Sam and Niko video you were on
Same
what video?
what video? link? :)
+DeadlyDre search Jake roper and look for the advice video :)
Jake I would like to direct you To one of Film theorists videos "How do You kill deadpool?" in that video they bring up the point that thought is not physical so if you were to be destroyed in one location and rebuilt in another that other "you" would have to be a completely new entity with new experiences making who they are.
+Juan Potgieter This kills the man.
That was implying regrowing the brain, in which case it would not have the same memories. If you copied the brain at an atomic level, with electronic interactions preserved, you would both maintain all the previous memories and conscious thought between the two bodies.
That came to my mind as well
+TØP Is Life |-/
That's exactly what I was thinking!
CGP Grey
Yeah man. lately I've been seeing channels ripping off each other. Fucken lazy asses
+My Herpes Itch Look at the description. It was a coincidence...
+50euros I dont think so. Last time SciShow and DNews did a vid about "the uncanny valley" where robots who become too human-like start becoming creepy to most ppl
+My Herpes Itch So what you're saying is that he wrote, shot and edited this video within a few hours?
this video is much more creative and I am sure that he hans the copied CGP Grey but it is similar.
Therefore, the phrasing of the problem breaks the rules of logical syntax
that doesn't solve it, it invalidates it
Very pedantic. Not bad, but very pedantic.
good job jake on posting this im glad you found the strength to upload this thank you
Lets get a bit deeper into the last one: If you were scanned to rebuild you at another location ( teleportation) but not destroyed at your first location.
Star Trek as usual has the answer:
memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Second_Chances_(episode)
There are two true "you" then.
GlobalGasp play soma
I have made a sort-of paradox: go up to a friend or just someone you know and say you want to make a bet if they agree to the bet tell them that you bet something (probably money) that you will lose the bet. This way since nothing has happened as the bet was you will lose the bet, you have not lost which technically means you have won but the fact that you have won means you have lost and you are caught in a never-ending cycle.
Better bet that you won't win the bet cause the fact you have no lose don't mean you won
