Some In Miami Gardens Have Mixed Feelings About Formula 1 Grand Prix

- Miami Gardens is preparing to host one of the largest events in the city's history. The Formula 1 race is just two weeks away and is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people to the area. As race weekend approaches, some people have mixed feelings.
Most of the people they spoke to seemed thrilled about it, and only were concerned about a few minor issues.
Mostly just concern about traffic and road closures. But all the businesses around are excited about the opportunities and tourism this brings.
@@simonlam33 are the road closers even going to be that big? it seems like most of it is limited to near the stadium
That's because they didn't talk to any of the tens of thousands that have been protesting against it.
That is beacause most of the interviewees were business owners in the service industry.
@@ciello___8307 one of the road closures will be bad. part of the track is going to block an entrance to the florida turnpike
If you chose to live next to a stadium best believe there are going to be events that happened at that location it’s not like it’s every day
What about the citizens that were living there before the stadium was built. They rights don't matter or what?
@@olinaguasalvarado3225 They can move.
@@mv3380 why do they have to move? They live there, they have to be listened. Their rights have to be respected. Simply as that. Equal protection under the law, right?
@@olinaguasalvarado3225 imagine complaining about a multi billion dollar development and sport coming to your local area.
@@TeamTwiistz if your talking about the stadium, it's no that way. Who end up paying for it are the tax payers
The benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. Lights out and away we go, Miami!
It is time those civil engineers should shine.

Lmao nobody is actually upset about it
You shouldn’t be concerned about traffic if you live in any big city
@@joshjackburns In london, no need for events.
If you drive, you won't get to your destination in time.
Mixed feelings? Literally everyone you interviewed welcomed the race.
They’re just mad because they don’t care about F1.
Super Bowl comes to your town Hallelujah.
They didn't know F1 is bigger than Superbowl 😂
@@F3RRO1 Maybe in other countries it is. Not in the US.
@@thedirtybubble9613 The money it brings is huge for its size though. Rich people who love luxury brands like Ferrari & McLaren flock to these events even when they have no interest in the racing
@@stevel9627 that still doesn't explain how F1 is bigger than the super bowl is in this country. Most of America does not drive luxury cars that cost over $100k.
@@thedirtybubble9613 anyone with a clue will know that no sport in the US comes close to the Super Bowl as an event, if that guy was talking about In the US than he’s just being a dumbass. But a F1 race is still a glamour event due to the name brands in it which brings in a lot of fans - even in the US. Ferrari has a ton of fans who will never afford to buy one nor ever drive one for example
Wait till they hear how many turn up in Italy, Australia, Zandvoort, COTA and Silverstone over a weekend. The local businesses will be petitioning for more grandstands, more tickets.
However the race is going to have to be good for people to want to go in the first place.
Honestly i think that even if the race is mediocre, fans will still show up especially since it’s a lot more accessible to a lot of American fans
@@andrewmonson5997 fans will show up period. Americans don't really watch F1,so "boring racing" to people who watch races regularly will just be exciting to spectate period for the American fans who haven't started watching
They're in for a rude awakening. People with enough cash to attend the race aren't interested in some crappy local small business, they want a first class experience.
F1 races are one of the best things I've ever attended but not gonna lie. Leaving Silverstone after an F1 race is a nightmare. In 2019 it took 5 HOURS to leave the car park.
@@andrewmonson5997 they might now, but five years down the line they will be over it. American fans don’t have a history of sticking with F1
Bro it’s one weekend…

It's also going to being in tons of 💰
The teams usually get to the venue on tuesdays and first practice is on wednesday or thursday if I'm correct, it is always an all week event
Complaining about one highly profitable weekend smh...
@@remembermefool first practice is on Fridays. Quali on Saturday and Race on Sunday
People should look at the positives and not focus so much on the negatives. Not everything in life is perfect
Yeah, but that's Americans, they like to see things dramatic!!
Agreed, they also shouldn’t complain when their home value is through the roof.
@@franp19 Everyone's home values are through the roof if you haven't noticed.
Spoken like someone who gets more than his fair share of positives.
You better love it. It is a privilege to have Formula 1 race here. Even if they are racing in a crappy street track around an NFL stadium
It’s a privilege to live in Miami period.
Noise of these current 1.6 liter V6 hybrid turbos aren’t that loud so won’t be much of an issue. Can understand why but folks should be glad it isn’t from the incredibly loud but eargasmic 3.0 Iiter V10 engines back in the 90s/2000s or the 2.4 liter V8 we had from 2006-2013.
They are still loud you can easily hear them from the parking lot (probably 3+ miles) they will live but the main problem is traffic unless you know about f1 something most Americans don’t I know from experience they aren’t ready for how steady the inflow will be Austin took 3 years to get the stand still times down to 4 hours
the v6 hybrids are still loud af,its just if you compare them to the old v8s or v10s well those thing are a different league type of loud like rocketship loud lol and for people like those who live in a residential area like that that havent seen racing cars live it will be disturbing for them but still its just 1 weekend per year so just cope lol
@@lilkris3008 Miami is terrible to drive through on regular weekends. It’s gonna be gridlock all week after Wednesday. Anyone who lives near the stadium, walking/biking is probably their fastest mode of transportation this coming weekend 💀
@@maybach8537 they’re the same level of loud, maybe a couple decibels of difference, but they’re similar, the only difference is the high pitch shriek that travels farther
Yup the V8s were loud af, especially Ferrari
Only Florida would be rejecting the most prestigious Motorsports in the world.
They got nascar, what else can they need? 🤣🤣
@@turbostixxx Nascar AKA turn left OMEGALUL
@Ploke Newo78 Nobody outside the US cares about Nascar dude... F1 is superior by far
@@norwegiangoat1456 there are two things NASCAR has superiority over F1: sound and look of the car! Apart from that F1 is definitely more fun to watch in my opinion.
@@KingOf_America1776 wait NASCAR looks better than F1 car, whatchu smoking bruh
The turbo hybrid F1 cars are not very loud. You can easily watch them without ear protection and there shouldn't be much in the way of noise problems. Not true for the 2.4L V8s that revved to 19K RPM that went away years ago.
I went to the usgp in 2000 and had earplugs with my hands over my ears and it was still too loud. Those cars screamed back then it was awesome
I went to the British F1 Grand Prix in 2019, I stood no more than 20 feet away from the cars and could easily put up with the noise. There won’t be any noise issues for anyone more than a half mile from the track in my opinion!
It’s one week/weekend. I’m sure the extra commerce will grossly outweigh the inconveniences. Enjoy the race 👍
Funny thing is….. F1 venues deal with local protest, local complaints etc etc every year. So this is nothing new to Formula One. It’s just something they will have to get use to or move.
Woman, as a hardcore fan, let me tell you that in F1 they don’t care about any potential disadvantages to the local community.
It's going to be such fun. Residents should be happy the cars arent the v10s from a few years ago. Haha
If I was a resident I would have loved to hear the v10s
Intelligent American people...
From *Florida* too!!!
How Refreshing
Traffic?! That’s the big concern?! What about flooding due to global warming, alligators, or sink holes?
Im so happy f1 is getting as big as it is.
Good walking and cycling infrastructure and good public transit could solve these problems

With traffic being the only issue ... I think were good
How can anyone complain about f1 while living next door to a professional football stadium? It's like complaining about sirens after moving next door to a fire station.
Some lady is concerned about the traffic, so guys, pack up, we're calling it off. Maybe there is somewhere in Germany we could go to instead.
Click Bait: NEGATIVE HEADLINE (NEGATIVE ANCHOR) and a very POSITIVE MESSAGE FROM LOCALS.
Local business will see an economic boom
Lol these guys can't bear the sound for 5hrs😂
It seemed like all the people in this video were very happy, that F1 is hosting a race there.
If you live next to a stadium, idk why you'd complain
If you live near a racetrack, or any large event place. Don’t complain about noise or anything like that
It's a brand new race track
...and what are the chances that people lived there BEFORE the track was built, or there were even plane to build one?
I'm glad Jada Smith came forward with her concerns
Probably NASCAR employees worried this will take the last of their fans
As a nascar fan sadly this is going probably true as nascar will be put to the back burner of American motorsports soon
@@southwesternpasirens Nascar needs to try to make people more interested in the sport, they need races all over the world like F1 and maybe do a lot more circuits rather than ovals which only Americans like
haha 😂
@Ploke Newo78 I agree with everything you're saying, i feel like NASCAR has no idea how to market itself to a wider audience. I really hope they learn because i would love to see this awesome motorsport grow
@@southwesternpasirens Especially if they start building more tracks down here in America. This circuit in Miami is here to stay for a long time. Next they are VEGAS!!Yea as an American f1 who never bothered with nascar I'll be personally glad to see more American f1 fans. Imagine them making a circuit in new York gracing thru Manhattan or hell even a circuit on the island of statue of liberty.... And hopefully we get more American team down the road! those "tradition" oval days are fading slowly out
The GP will do a lot of good to the city, traffic happens at any F1 weekend, some to a greater extend than other, but it is just what happens when at least 100k people go to the same place
Bring back the v10s just to spite all the karens who will most definitely be complaining
Sorry but as F1 fans we want historic races like Spa and Monaco. Not a 9999999999th us gp.
The title has nothing to do with the video, I am very glad for the people who live there to earn money for a normal and dignified life.
I will definitely watch the race💪

OH NO! TRAFFIC????? NEAR A STADIUM???????
for the love of god please think of the children
We usually have nightmare traffic during COTA F1 but I appreciate the business and money! And its only for 3days
As a Miami native, complaining about traffic is something you do EVERY single day
It’s only a few days. They’ll survive
Why is Jada complaining!
I dream to heard those cars running close to my house
What you need is the Haas F1 Team to win in Miami (fingers crossed)
If they want issues like "noise" etc., maybe every event in miami old v8's or v10s should be used
I think they should give discounts on the tickets to the locals. This race is so expensive unaffordable for many. Those around the venue should get something for accepting the event into their backyard. It shouldn’t just be the city and event organizers that get all the benefit
do the locals own hard rock stadium? the race is already attracting so much money to miami gardens the economic impacts are going to be super beneficial. Also the the locals are not accepting the race into their backyards, they are privileged enough to get a race right in their backyards. they should not get any benefits because they didnt do anything.
@@connorbaird8342 yeah if you're an F1 fan it's like that, or a business owner. For a lot of people this is just a mob descending on where you live. The hard rock stadium was paid for by tax payers. Often the bid is subsidized by tax payers. Keep being ignorant though! 😘
Even F1 community themselves are having issues of having another race in US
It's only 3 days in the whole calendar year. Some countries are dreaming to have just one F1 race
If they can do a race in Monaco they can do it in Miami. It wont be trail and error lol
This is a great example of News media trying to spin their own narrative on a story. Literally every person seemed super excited all they said was it’s gonna cause traffic. Great job CBS 4 news with your “journalism”
Dude, I'm sure every event here is jam-packed in the streets so wtf is different now? it's not a sport they like? Jesus
What mixed feelings? I didn't see/hear anyone have any major issues?

We Love ❤️Miami! All the best with the F1!
Like most of the interviewee's has mentioned, the change is largely positive. For the town to grow, it has to experience events like these. The more events they put on, the more they can learn on how to manage traffic and other quibbles that come along with increased tourism and business. Every booming city has to start somewhere.
So people move into a district where events are held, then get upset when events are held. As a race fan of many different series, I am in disbelief that the influx of people around existing racetracks cause the racetracks to get shut down due to noise. Usually, racetracks are built far outside of the city and then city expansion creeps towards the track resulting in new homeowners complaining about circumstances which were present long before they moved into their home. This particular circumstance is a bit different, but to complain about event traffic in an event district seems incomprehensible to me.
But Rolling Loud is Ok? That’s much louder, same traffic issues. I don’t see CBS making a big deal about it. Jazz in the Garden, loud. All I see in the news is how great it is.
The Super Bowl comes around, I don’t CBS making a big deal. All I see is the positives. Well this is a Super Bowl every year in economic impact to our city.
Why the hate for F1?
It's only a weekend, suck it up and deal with it. Your house is worth a lot of $, and you live next Tina stadium that was built damn near 35 years ago, at this point if you haven't moved, you have no room to talk. Same as the people that live next to airports and complain about the noise
This is Miami Gardens lol. One of the poorest ghettos in Florida. Their homes aren't worth much.
Local news stations just making a bigger deal of it than normal.
Lovely to see publicity in the States for Formula One. However, why the negative headline and narrator dialogue? Simply concerned about traffic but thrilled for the business and growth of the city? Cmon now :/
NBA Playoffs and a Formula One race, Miami has it good right now.
The media try to spin stories so hard but everyone sees right through them 🤣🤣🤣
What is the difference there will be traffic during a foot ball game I do understand that a foot ball game is a day but still
As European, i totally agree, please don't make anymore street circuits, just let us have old circuits that are part of F1 tradition...Leave people of Miami at peace and quiet.
It's just a few days. People need to learn that it's ok to be inconvenienced a little bit.
They all seem stoked yet realistic about the inconvenience. Didn't seem too mixed

They people don’t care! American media will take any opportunity to hate against International sports.
??? Everyone is hype for this, what's this channel on about lol
Why do you say a quarter of a million people will be at the race? Ticket sales was limited to 70,000. That's a normal football crowd.

The main issue I have is it’s not Watkins Glen. I get it, WGI isn’t safe as it is currently but it is an established track with most of the infrastructure needed to mitigate the local traffic issues. -insert salt because Miami is farther away from me than Watkins glen is-. All in all though it’s good to See the US getting another race even if it is in at a parking lot venue!
I’d rather keep Miami and remove Las Vegas. That track is garbage and would love to see Watkins Glenn. But the Miami track is actually nice
The only thing that might be a problem is how loud the F1 cars will be. Otherwise business will be booming for Miami
They'd really get pissy if it was a few years ago when they had v10's with no turbos reving to almost 20,000!
no one is upset that the f1 is racing at miami. They are upset because of its location and ticket price
It brings a lot of revenue!
People will always find something to complain about.
A tiny handful of people simply want to piss in everyone elses cereal bowl.
At least you guys don't have hippies protesting it like we do in Melbourne (Australia).
Living in Miami Gardens next to Hard Rock stadium, downtown Miami, you ain’t in Greenwich, CT. Let’s gooooo Miamaaayyyyyy!!!!
Why people are upset or shocked when they live in a major city and a major event comes to town is beyond me.
Don’t care + ratio
The race must go on lmao
Miami should be proud for joining this highly exclusive and niche sport, there will be huge benefits for local business and growth. It also runs for a short period so any noise etc is very short term max
Niche sport? hahahaha many many thanks for the laugh
Well white people are tired of Miami Gardens residents
There is always a wet blanket in every crowd
They make a race like this in the melbourne, australia every year with 0 issues/good traffic flow. Seems like the media always finds something to complain about here in the u.s.
It's one weekend, just chill xD
The benefit of hosting an F1 event is too big to pass on
Typical... people can not be inconvenience for a weekend... God forbid..
