    Thank goodness they didn’t cast you in plaster (I used to have mine done that way years ago 😬) or had to do a full pelvis cast 😳 I found this way of casting so much better than getting it scanned in as scans don’t compensate for our fleshy parts that well. I bet this has helped you realise this is actually happening and getting that c brace isn’t too far away anymore. So excited for you Richard 🤗🦿🤗

    I panicked when I saw them “sawing” your cast off. I require AFO’s (knee height) for CP, and they’ve never had to do that. 😰😂

    Hey question about the c brace. Does it help at all with flexion of the knee or does it just provide like more strength and stability of the quad?

    • @andrewcrow-roberts5286
      @andrewcrow-roberts5286 3 роки тому +6

      I have a C-Brace. I got mine 2 months ago through the VA. It essentially replaces the movement of the quad muscles and the piston on the side aids the stability of the knee. I have no feeling in my right leg from about mid thigh down. My leg was crushed in an accident while deployed and the nerves eventually stopped sending any signal below the “crease” in my thigh. Basically like having a limb pinched in vice grips for a very long time, but not hard enough to cut off blood circulation to the leg. It took me awhile to use the C-Brace properly. What helped is that it does have an audible beep that tells me that my leg is at full flexion and that my stride is complete and that I can then move my leg forward and the knee will release, bend and then as it swings forward it will stiffen the piston like the knee releasing and then stiffening allowing for the other leg to step forward. I have to remind myself to lead off with the left leg and then the C-Braced right leg will follow. I recommend checking out the Ottobock US UA-cam videos. Hopefully, this helps.
