Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Cafe Racer. Full Review. How good is it?

- We review the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650!
Find out what we think! Is it any good? Is it worth getting? How does it handle? How does it accelerate? Should it stay in the 1960's?
As with all our motorcycle reviews, we put ourselves in the shoes of the 99% of people who would buy the bike.
Made in India, this British brand has masses of nostalgia, coupled with modern technology, such as fuel injection, electric start, disc brakes etc.
It has a 650cc, two cylinder 4 stroke, air cooled engine, with a six speed gearbox.
If you're considering buying this bike, or are looking at cafe racer style bikes, you need to watch this!

Ended up going with the interceptor but I love this review, as well as your channel. You respect the viewer, regardless of their experience. I’m a new rider, about a year in. I’ve been going down the UA-cam hole of motorcycle reviews and skills and have come across all the major reviewers/influencers but You have some of the best stuff out there. Knowledgeable, direct not trying to be comedian or get a rise out of people by putting down other manufacturers. You actually talk about riding and And enjoying it instead of throwing out a bunch of numbers I can read on a site or brochure. Your channel is underrated but I’ve seen it growing over the past year. You deserve all your success!
Also the Ol’ Man’s beard is magnificent. I wish mine looked that good.
Thanks very much for your kind words brother!
We have a Royal Enfield Interceptor here in the garage right now, ready for a review. It will be interesting to see if you agree with what we discover.
Thanks for your support 👍🏼👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Now the review is done which of the two bikes do you prefer? I'm looking at getting back into riding myself and can't decide between the two.
@@NetherFeather I prefer the interceptor, it’s more comfortable and a nicer upright riding position
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Awesome, I commute a fair old distance so I think that settles it. You guys have the best reviews out there, thanks!
The more reviews I see on this motorcycle the more I want one! Great video!
Thanks Ray. Yes it’s a lovely bike
Yes
I'm in my mid 30s and love the analog meters of this bike. I ride a Royal Enfield Classic 500 Stealth Black version. And only have analog watches (in today's time of Fitbits, smart watches). The elegance of analog is just unmatched.
I totally agree! ✅
This bike leaves scope for visual changes if you like it. Absolutely cool motorcycle which I will buy. I find the performance absolutely sufficient, why always Japanese Superbikes or Tourers? This motorcycle stands out visually and technically from the rest of the manufacturers. Oldscool is in. Greetings from Germany.
Yes 100% 👍
holly hell, fricking Hellboy on a cafe!
Hell yeah
Haha
That’s funny!
Apparently its a re-sleeved 750 to bring it down to 650cc/47bhp. That means its going to last and explains how the big bore kits bring them up to 895cc. (£4000 gives you 85bhp with big bore, pipes, clutch, cams, air filter+ tweaks)
Personally I wouldn't change a thing on it....Louder pipes might be nice but I like the look of the originals.
Designed in 🇬🇧. Made in 🇮🇳.
The perfect combo 🤝💪.
Yes 👍
Even the Harley are made in India these days , KTM too
coffin guy all the my20 harleys are made in Taiwan I believe
I bought one. A black and gold 2020. I absolutely love it, can't complain. It's not the fastest bike by a long shot, but for back road carving and kicking around on it is an absolute treat to ride.
Awesome! Over powered bikes are less fun tbh. Enjoy
RE must be doing something very right, I've not seen a bad review yet of the 650 twins both this and the Intercepter, well done to them 👍🏻
Yes it’s very good and not pretending to be anything else
Best Royal Enfield motorcycle review ever. I love the close in shots. Your insight are genuine. The backdrop of the house is right. Review reflects the spirit of the bike. Video from riding the bike had the prefect angles. I want to buy a bike right now. Thank You.
Thank you! We are endeavouring to get more Royal Enfield's but it is proving very difficult!
One of those times when you are looking at how gracefully the dude has aged rather than noticing how gracefully RE has aged
Just a badass dude making a review of a badass bike. Subbed immediately.
Thanks buddy. Welcome aboard. Please check out our other reviews 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Don’t mind if I do 😃
Got one of these in June of 2020, really love it. Best thing to come out of a hell year
Excellent! Really nice bike 👍🏼
Hey old man. Don't know your name. But you're the perfect reviewer for me cos we're the same size. But your version of light is different for everyone.
Naah naah dude looks absolutely good on this beast.
👍🏼👍🏼
Another flippin' excellent review Ol'man! Is the Enfield very 'buzzy' at highway speeds? Sorry our Prince Harry couldn't make it this time. Nice jacket as always. Watch the zipper on the tank! ;)
S Defiel Thanks dude! Mr Darcy had a Royal engagement. I didn’t find it buzzy tbh but I also didn’t sustain motorway speeds for all that long. Very nice bike!
How come the bricks on the walls have different dimensions? It seems like it wan built before the industrial revolution
It’s built of ironstone in about 1500. 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan wow cool
I just wanted you to know that I saw this video about 18 months ago, and just loved the look of the bike and really enjoyed your review of it. I'm a Fireblade/GSXR rider over the last 25 years, but wanted something a bit different. I saw this video (I've seen it every couple of months since) and just knew this is what I wanted next, and I'm happy to say I trade in the GSXR1000 for a Continental GT650 this weekend. Will be a completely different experience, and I can't wait! :)
Keep up the great reviews!!
Awesome, thank you! We've just finished filming the latest Royal Enfield GT650 review which will go on UA-cam Monday evening
Cheap for you guys.. this is a dream bike in India
Rajesh S It’s a fabulous bike! We love it
💯
Thanks for such an amazing review
I have ordered my bike.
Love from INDIA GT650
Thank you! Good luck with the bike!
My daughter just bought the chrome and black tank one. She's about 5'7" and puts both feet on the ground easily. My car has a big digital speedo, love it. But the numbers are big. Much prefer now.
Fantastic! Let is know how she gets on with it 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan will do. We have a Grom and registered TTR230 already in the family to practice on, and she had a minibike as a child. Needs the RE to get to work 30 mins on the freeway.
My daughter has ridden her 650GT about 10 times now, and going well. She had an auto clutch Honda as a kid so needed practice using a clutch especially on hills, but the nice off idle torque is helping her out. Like most learners, she struggles manoeuvring the bike in and out the garage, but getting better. Practiced slow riding and stopping going down steep hills. Hill starts still an issue. Practising freeway riding/ merging now.
One more time thanks for another great review 👍
An absolutely fantastic and beautiful looking bike.
I personally prefer the sister model of the CT Continental, the Interceptor 650.
It is the first 2 cylinder motor of Royal Enfield since approx 50 years...newly developed in Britain, i mean under the direction of a former Triumph guy.
An inexpensive, down to earth motorcycle with fuel injection and ABS, no further electronic bullshit.
Of course it is not the strongest and fastest bike on the planet, and it does not have to be that for me.
For me, it is a bike for the heart.
In a way to compare with Harley: after a day on the road, you sit down on a chair next to the bike and say "look what she is beautiful"
Michi Schalusenbach Thanks Michi! Yes it certainly has character and is fun to ride. It’s not always about speed, and this is fast enough to be fun. 👍
One of the popular brand in india it's 650 Twin engines are bullet proof
hareeshkumar vasu Thats good! It’s a lovely motorcycle!
The guy surely is a metalhead...
This is just my opinion:
I feel that the Continental GT should be RE's "fast bike". It performs the same as the Interceptor, the differences are cosmetic. I don't see why RE just doesn't modify the GT for a little more performance than the Interceptor. I get that they aren't built for speed, but then why make a café-style bike that can hardly do the ton?
Yes good point. Our Royal Enfield review comes out tonight as it happens. Check that out at 7pm uk time
Because it’s a beautiful bike and RE made a great business decision.
There is a big bore kit available from S&S Cycle that increases the engine size to 865cc.
Cool 👍🏼
Street legal?
This is my first beginner motorcycle, I'm glad i chose this over KTM RC 390 which i was going to buy earlier, even with the stock exhaust it sounds beautiful
Excellent! And good choice! Ride safe!👊🏼
Put S&S performance exhaust after 2k Kms you as well as everyone in neighborhood will love it
Good choice, I would always pick and understressed larger engine over a smaller block. Plus the Enfield will be very easy to customise on a low budget.
@@rohitdangale3594 aftermarket exhausts are illegal in my country :-(
@@oliox8685 yusss, i didn't do much on mine
But i did fit oem bar end mirrors which were broken by a 3 wheeler driver 1 week ago 😂
Nice review. My Honda PC 800 is like a 100 horsepower Singer Sewing Machine, so hard to replace . I think ItcheyBoots Himalayan would fill in the gap for me much better.
Again , thank you for the very thorough review . . . . Thanks ! RH
Thanks Richard! Ride safe!
production quality of a channel 100x the size. thankyou very much.
Thanks Dylan! We’ll hopefully grow into a bigger channel. 👍
@@MrDarcy-OlMan glad to be part of it. Refreshing to talk to smaller, growing, channels and get a reply!
Tons of fun.
Oh dear,so many good bikes and such a good price...
Indeed 💯👍🏼
43 years ago, I had a Honda 250 G5. This reminds me a little of that and most of all, it reminds me of how much fun I had with it. When I sold the G5 in 1981, I gave up motorcycles for good. They were evolving in a way that didn't interest me anymore. This could see me back on one.
Excellent. Thanks buddy 👍🏼
I've since found that power output and torque are almost identical to a 1969 Bonnie T120. So if you want a vintage bike without the responsibility of owning a 50 year old machine, it has to be a Royal Enfield.
@@hughwalker5628 I've had 39 bikes so far (I counted yesterday) and I started out on old British iron and amongst these I had twins from AJS, Triumph, BSA and Norton. This bike does remind me very much of them and looking at available mods I don't think it would take too much to get the power output beyond that of my 72 750 Commando with the combat cam. For less money than it would take to buy an old Commando. The 650 Interceptor (maybe with the GT rearsets) is looking like my next bike purchase.
james hetfield?
Haha it has been said 👍🏼
I really appreciate your reviews. They’re concise and informative and make me want to ride!
Thanks buddy 👍🏼
One English bike reviewer got all snippy when I mentioned the giant ridiculous number plate. Complain you Brits, don't accept it.
That’s odd, we can’t stand the massive number plates! Always complaining about them!
The German number plates are even bigger 😏
Royal Enfield is on a roll. It has so much in store for the next 12-24 months. The following models up for launch -
Classic
Roadster
Shotgun
Hunter
Sherpa
Scram
Flying Flea and
An Electric Motorcyle
Also BSA will be launching its 650cc motorcycle by the end of the year.
Shame Royal Enfields press fleet operator won’t speak to us.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Well a bunch of these motorcycles have already been spied and their shots are all over the web. I'm sure you will find atleast 4-5 of them. Besides Royal Enfield has stated that it will be launching one motorcycle per quarter for the next few years. The next one being the Royal Enfield Classic.
@@kyakaruvlogs2784 We'd be happy to review them but like `i say, Royal Enfield UK don't speak to us any more.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan
Wow that's pretty drastic I must say. Hopefully the chaps at BSA will talk to you.
Are you going to test the Interceptor 650 version? It's on my short list right now for my first bike here in australia.
Tamiya Fan We’re just waiting for the new bikes from Royal Enfield. Hopefully it will be on the lineup
Just buy the Interceptor. I've put 5400+ miles on mine mainly around 5,000-10,236 ft altitude in southern California. It handles mountain roads extremely well and freeway speeds over 80 MPH easily.
Burt Hulbert Thats great! 👊🏼
I ride Iron Barrel Cast iron 350, i am hooked on to it as it has poisoned me, can i have the antidot, even i feel that i should move on to new technology, which is fast and agile, Man a dilemma!

nice review second of your you tube videos iv watched your place looks awesome dude
Thanks buddy, this was our old place. Our newer videos are much better than this now 😁at least we think they are haha
Love this bike! Seems like a perfect solid motorcycle to just get on and ride! The price is incredible. If you don’t require a duel sport , or a sport bike. And you just want a quality machine to enjoy motorcycling and you want to feel good about the beautiful machine you are riding then this bike is perfect. I am a bike fan of the Himalayan as well.
Yes 100% spot on Dom 👍
Been using this beauty of a bike for over a year now & its phenomenal. love the aesthetics & riding experience is unparalleled plus its an eye candy without trying too hard
Excellent! 💯
Thank you sir! I'm built like you but, only 5'8" so this will fit perfect. Where do I get the jacket? ;) Lol This looks like a great first bike after my Honda Monkey, I love the Triumph Thruxston but, it's way over priced I think, 10K more than this. I can't imagine it being 10K better. I'm waiting for the exact version to come in stock here in the middle of the USA...thanks again for the simple review
No problem.
Yes it’s superb. 💯
It's dream bike in INDIA ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
In INDIA IT COST AROUND $4500 and it's expensive
Yes it is awesome!
Unfortunately it also prices out 98% folks here. I make a lot of money by Indian standards, but it's expensive even for me.
Every now and then something comes along that just works right ! Sharp presentation on an affordable bike that is easy to work on ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Donaldson Cole Thanks Donaldson! Yes it’s a lovely bike; great fun to ride 👊🏼
I purchased a second hand 2021 ContiGT before the summer and I could not be happier. Great for the commute across London, out in the sticks over in Gloucestershire, decent on the motorway.
It does it all. Upgraded the suspension, the exhaust and the handlebars.
Lights front and back next up.
This review helped in making the decision and I couldn't be happier.
Absolute breeze to customise too.
Thanks alot Guys, great channel, great review.
Carry on carrying on. Be safe 🏍️
It really is a beautiful bike,...I would still prefer a Triumph Thruxton RS,...but since I could only afford it, if I would house under a bridge for about two years and if I would manage to eat only one potato a day, the Royal Enfield is probably more "suitable" for me.
Haha yes I know that feeling 👍🏼
Thanks for this review, it is a bike I am considering, your excellent review has helped a lot.
Glad it was helpful! We loved it!
The bike certainly is suitable for a lady rider. I bought one today!
Sara Stearns Ahh that’s great! Let us know how you get along with it! We loved it!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan I certainly will!
@@Sara_PY If you don't mind my asking, how tall are you? Are you able to get your feet flat on the road? Most women are indeed limited in their motorcycle options due to seat height. This is surely one of the more accessible bikes.
A Himalayan suits women better in my humble opinion
@@twistednemo if you are above 5'4, you can ride it. It has narrow seats.
Nice review! Would go for this or the interceptor if you had £5500 burning a hole in your pocket?
RichFromLondon Yes down to whether you want to be leaning forward with GT or more upright with Interceptor. With some trials tyres, the Interceptor could be a good general purpose bike!
Music is FAR too loud, turning the volume up and down like a barmaids knickers,
Point taken. We are not adding music any more, but only on small sections if necessary and quietly!
I agree Fred - a watchable video - but the jarring assault on the brain every so often from the "music?" is hard work
Amazing review of the bike, totally agree on changing the exhaust. Love the retro looks on this and the Benelli, cheers guys, ride safe.
Tony Thanks Tony 👊🏼 Ditto
The great thing about the exhaust is that they are true slip on cans, which makes changing them simple and easy to fit 😁
Hello from France ! I loved your review and your presentation!
Bonjour! Merci! Can you get this bike in France?
MrDarcy & the Ol'Man Yes we have official dealers. The bike is 6700€ here.
MrDarcy & the Ol'Man I just finished my A2 licence on a Honda cb500f. The RE would be more dynamic ? And I remember the gearbox of the CB wasn’t really comfortable in town, is it the same with the RE ? Thank you
jyexe525 The RE is a nice bike and the gear changes are slick. It’s a dynamic bike for sure but not like a superbike, so it’s manageable and forgiving
jyexe525 Thats good!
What a beautiful beast..I’ve ordered mine. Can’t wait for the delivery 🔥
Czar Billionaire Yes! Excellent! Let us know how you get on with it 👊🏼
MrDarcy & the Ol'Man yeah man for sure
What a beautiful bike! A nice base to build own customs parts and give it an individual touch. I am very excited to see more from Royal Enfield in the future. Nice review aswell, keep going! best wishes from Germany!

Great review as always, i am now a complete convert to the Enfield brand. After my fair share of Triumphs and Harleys among many other Bikes i just cant escape the pull of the Royal Enfield. I am lucky enough to own a Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 both in Chrome with alloy wheels to try and keep the retro feel going as much as possible. From these fantastic bikes i then added a Royal Enfield Red 535 Continental GT, also a fantastic trip into nostalgia to my collection. Followed by the Chrome 500 Classic, not so much a retro as an on going evolution of the original 1950's or even 1930's Royal Enfield single. A bike model still continued by the latest model the all new 350 Classic. How could anyone not love the brand with all that history. The fact i now live on the Gold coast in Australia could have have something to do with my enthusiasm for bikes reflective of the old country i suppose. Also they seem to be a fair bit cheaper here than the UK. Along with weather a double bonus for a homesick pom. Keep up the good work....by the way your son is a chip of the old block. which can only be a good thing.
Excellent! Great collection 👌🏼
Thanks very much 👍🏼👍🏼
I am very tempted to trade my Iron 883 for this lovely Continental GT and customise it with the change (S&S exhaust, turn signals and tail tidy). Now I have a softail the Iron feels a bit rough... I need of course to try it first but would you say it would be a good move?
Definitely have a testride. It’s a nice bike but so different to the Harley 883, your bent over the tank and the weights on your hands.
You will feel it's a little underpowered afer some time. But, the transmission is silky smooth! And yeah, comparably better brakes than a hd. Don't forget to change the exhausts to a 2:1, you'll probably get rid of 10-12 kgs
Put a 1200 kit in the Iron. I prefer the old spoke wheel Sportster personally.
Hi I just came across this polished version of you, very Marko Ramius like.
I prefer you with the longer beard, and the lack of stat's. Your far more relaxed in your later videos. I was in Royal Enfield today in Adelaide South Australia were I live, seeya Marco
Love your reviews .
A real bikers prospective.
Remember the C racer scene well in Essex it was centred around the Blinking Owl cafe .
Had a Matchless CSR but as it had been coupled to a Garrard Zepplin chair which twisted the frame when unhitched as a solo it was a total dog handling wise.
Imho a set of Dunstall Decibel silencers which as repros can still be bought at £66 each would give the RE the sound it needs to be a CE style bike
Thanks Lee 👊🏼 yes the right pipes is all it really needs!
Skinny wheels make the heavy weight feel lighter than it is. Great review!
Yes good point John!
Hey if I were 6’6” would I be comfortable riding it? I’m trying to get into riding and this bike looks incredible for my purposes, my main concern is my height making the ride uncomfortable
Robert Neilson Hi Rob. No it’s going to be way too small. You could ride it, of course, but it wouldn’t fit right. The biggest bikes are Harleys and Indians, or something like the Honda Africa Twin
I know I got to get one of them twins, just don't know how to break it to the missus.
Haha yes! Good luck!
Great review but I wish you had tested the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 as that is what I am looking at buying next as better for longer trips with a pillion.
I love the simplicity, lack of electronic gizmos and the analogue dials.
I live in Thailand and have no need for speed; 60 mph (100 kms) is well adequate for cruising on the main roads in comfort.
Weare hoping to really soon! 👍🏼👍🏼
@@Peter-ff1tp I am older now and need the more upright position of the interceptor and a pillion.
Fantastic review thanks for sharing .
I just bought a continental gt650 with the chrome tank superb machine .
Triumph should take a leaf out of royal enfields book 😊
Cheers
Dave from Scotland
Thanks buddy. Yes awesome bike 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks! I’m tall and big, shorter than you but bigger around, and I’ve been looking for a video of a bigger guy on one of these to see how it looks, and I’d say that it looks fine, I need to go check one of these out in person. My main concern about this bike is the maintenance costs since it requires more frequent oil changes and valve clearance checks rather often, but that just comes with the territory. What great style! Really hard to decide between this and the SV650 for my first bike, both are so different but either seems to be a great choice.
No worries! I think this is way cooler than the sv650. It’s really easy to change oil yourself on a motorcycle so you could do that to save money.
MrDarcy & the Ol'Man Ha, ya know, I hadn’t even thought of doing the oil changes myself, that would save a lot of money, and paying someone to do the valve check every 6k miles shouldn’t be too bad, once you eliminate the overpriced dealer oil change. Thanks for the advice. Have great weekend
Jack O. No worries 👍🏼 ditto
When I was 17 I had a suzuki gt 250 my mate had a Norton 850 commando I always dreamed one day il have one but never happened
Ahh never mind. 👍🏼
Mr Darcy, if you ahd the choice of the Honda Rebel 500 or RE Continental/Interceptor 650; what would you choose?
Probably the Continental. I prefer the retro looks
Both are gorgeous, i believ it will boils down on your riding preference. The Rebel you can ride long distance due to its cruiser stance. Ditto with the Interceptor. If for joy and hard riding near and little cornering the continental it is.
Interesting how the Eurospec ones will start with the side stand down...I've read U.S. spec ones will not. Also, how cool would this bike be with a kickstarter??
Michael Maxwell Yes we’ve had a few bikes that won’t start with it down. Yes a kickstarter would be really retro. 👍
Another throw review, very enjoyable 👍🏻

Yes it is so much fun to ride!

JJM51 Thanks buddy! We like it as it is tbh. It all seemed pretty much fine , and brakes etc are fine for what it is.
Tank pads with the union flag on, granted its aesthetic value, but sure looks in keeping with the retro style, more so on the Intercepter

splodge 57 Thanks Splodge! Yes big price difference! But still love the Heritage 😎
100 mph on the motorway? Sounds like fun. 🙂
In theory! 😉
Good review this. I think for your height and size, you look ok on the bike. I'm around 6ft2 and had a sit on one today and it felt pretty comfortable. I also sat on the interceptor, the only issue I thought with that was the position of the pegs, they get in your way when you put your feet down. Anyway our local dealer has a demo day going at the weekend, so I might take one out for a test ride.
Thanks buddy. We’re reviewing the Interceptor soon. We’ll have a look at that 👍🏼
I love the looks and price of this bike but at 6'8" I looked like I was riding a toy. Shame.

Rajan Mudliar wow that’s great. It would be good to get that service in other parts of the world. Well done India!
Just a quick one, would you be better on the Intercepter as its more up right position?
@@kevindarkstar here in India, the Royal Enfield Bullet Standard is the king of the road. Tried and tested motorbike from epochs and Era's.
you often find a label under the back number plate,
" The Bullet doesn't leak oil,

Phil Hesmondhalgh Thanks Phil! Yes hopefully we will in the near future. Lot’s of different bikes coming over the next few months!
Another super review, I really enjoyed seeing this new RE particularly as you had so much good stuff to say about it, back in the day I rode Reddich built Royal Enfield bikes for years as my daily rides, I had a 250 Crusader Sport, a 350 Bullet reg. MUV 78D and a 250 Continental GT for a short while, the GT had a 5 speed trans which was pretty dreadful with false neutrals galore. Thanks and see you again soon I hope

How does it ride over bumpy tarmac? Some reviewers reported that the front felt a bit twitchy @ speeds over 75mph/120kmh.
The road we tested it on was bumpy and we found it ok. We didn’t take it above 70mph though

It's also possible standing around in the sun with full m/c gear to get heatstroke the only drinks available at this union rally were what I brought with me, That's why I made the unprecedented decision to wear shorts!
This is all well & good, but what about that bloody pointing? I hope it was rectified during lockdown.

Got myself an Interceptor 650. Continental GT is an amazing bike but found it’s riding posture to be too lean for my liking. You were right about the more l ride the Interceptor, more confident l feel doing the corners. As far as hitting the ton in concerned, l doubt l will be able to achieve that considering the law and the wind drag, l was unable to handle the wind resistance even at 140 km/hr, even though l don’t have the windshield installed on my bike nor was l lying flat on my chest over the tank, which l don’t think will be possible or too comfortable on Interceptor.
P.S. :- Love your contents and how you never fail to consider what a normal motorcycle enthusiast will use and what all just sounds fancy but of no use to most people.
Thanks buddy! Great to hear! In the true spirit of the ton too - never easy and a big achievement when you reach it. Don’t do it cos we said so though!
Rarely do I wish I was a taller man. But, when I see a motorcycle like this, I wouldn't mind being 3 inches taller.

Yes absolutely right 💯
You just gave me exactly what i wanted to know! Its a small bike & all the guys reviewing it are shorter than me! So its you & me mate...6'3" each - Thanks!! Its an awesome looking machine. Its not even retro they just make them like that. I can't believe how perfectly they designed this Bike. They got right everything every other manufacturer is messing up design wise. Now if i can find someone in the UK that will ship one to South Africa for me.....Thanks a tonne for the great review, sorry its Winter there now, come visit Cape Town!
Thanks Stuart! We’re glad it helped! Yes agreed; it’s a fabulous bike but quite compact 👍🏼
Excellent review, gorgeous bike.
Thanks very much! 👍🏼👍🏼
this may seem a strange question. I'm just about to plop a deposit on one of these, I can't unfortunately see it or sit on to test the ergos. can you tell me your arm length and inseam. I'm 6'2" and don't mind a slight lean forward, but at my age I don't fancy the cafe stance any more. your opinion would help immensely.
Not strange at all. I’m 6’3” and inseam is 33” and about 25 inches from armpit to the heel of my hand. You are leaning forward with weight on the hands, but not extremely so.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan we are similar, but I have longer legs, it seems you were not leaned to far forward so that helps, thanks.
check out the interceptor 650. It is the same specs without the cafe racer stance
Nice, nice, nice! Really gorgeous bike! (is it good for longer road trips?)
Maybe not too long as you’re leaning over the bars a bit so will get sore hands after a while. We have a much more up to date new review of the continental 2022 next week!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan That's great, I'll be looking forward to it!
Only vehicle I'll buy new
Really! Cool 👍🏼
I want one so bad! But it costs around $9000 where I live.
Gosh that’s expensive
Dang. I'm looking at the Himalayan, bullet, and 650 for $5,000 brand new. I would get the 650 of course.
Try to get it imported from India (it's only $4,000 here). Or get a thruxton instead!
@@thelagmeister don't buy the bullet/ classic it has fi issues...
Its $12000 here in Nepal because of the taxes
Better than harley 750 and street rods
Yes we reckon you're right
Yes although the engine and general quality in the street series is good. The design is another matter, they could have mave a Kawasaki Vulcan killer if it had been done right.
I have a 2021 Continental GT 650. I love the bike, but I love it under a three year warranty. First time it started leaking from a broken gasket under the bike. Second time it started leaking from the gear box, the dealer said that is a common issue for RE. And then last season I was riding it and felt like something broke once I shifted into third gear. And now I’m hearing RE has a defect with their gears breaking causing false neutrals.
I guess what I’m wondering is after this year I won’t have a warranty and I can’t afford to keep a brand new bike running for thrills. Is there any reason I shouldn’t sell it at the end of this season and write off Royal Enfield as a brand who makes bikes less like a gun and more like a squirt gun?
That’s a shame.
I bought a second hand 2021 Interceptor recently, now I am worried☹️
