- The #chicagocubs started to revert to their old ways after blowing a 2 run lead because of bad defense. But that’s when someone finally stepped up. #justinsteele walked off the mound at the end of the inning and yelled to his team twice, ‘wake the F up!’ Of course, #kap loved it because for the 1st time all season, someone on the #cubs staff and/or roster stepped up and said something. Kap has been critical of #craigcounsell of late because of his lack of fire and also has been on #jedhoyer for a lackluster roster. However, today the Cubs responded by beating the rival #brewers and maybe, just maybe they can take this and get hot from here. #ianhapp hit a late HR to preserve the victory.

Steele was the right guy to send the wake-up message. Steele has proven he's one of the best-starting pitchers in baseball. I've compared him to Lester since 22 and he just continues to resemble many different attributes.

Their defense overall this year has been a joke. They've been so piss poor in recent years on rundowns. I mean, do they ever practice that shit at all? It's supposed to be fundamental baseball, but they suck at fundamentals.

Bad rundowns today. Both ran the runner to the next base. Counsell is not a rah rah, yeller. Not going to happen. He needs to be who he is and always has been. Still think it was an excellent hire. Hope the Cubs get a pulse, and start the come back. Take that.
Hey Kap! FINALLY! Finally someone has the ⚾️⚾️⚾️ to call the TEAM out in the dugout and that was terrific and about time (long overdue). Justin is not only a really good starting pitcher but now he has established himself as a “leader” on this ball club and someone who will be more respected going forward. Hoping this was a WAKE UP CALL. The Cubs troubles are not over. The roster issues have not been fixed (this is very poorly structured team) and we are unfortunately stuck with this $40M manager. Although I still have hopes that Jed/Carter will do something at the trade deadline, I’m not getting my hopes up high. If I were to bet, the Cubs will be sellers. What Justin did was refreshing. Craig Counsell is not real a leader it's a problem too
Utter fantasy a player screaming can motivate players to hit, pitch, field ,and run the bases better. Same with Counsell being dry hurting player productivity. Grandpa Ross's bubbly personality didn't prevent a September 2023 collapse.
Counsell doesnt fit with the Cubs at all. Its bad karma to fire Ross to replace him with this guy. It was wrong to do it to Rick Renteria too, but Maddon had fire and passion.
These guys are acting soft like USMNT soccer. I don't know what is going on with this team.
KAP: Anyone who watched the game, and specifically the bottom of the third, must by now be wondering why Rob Manfred and MLB aren’t delisting the Cubs organization. Steele wasn’t rallying the team after he screamed at the top of the dugout. He was decrying them. He hasn’t won a game since last September and yes, he’s frustrated, but he’s also been charted since last year and teams are sitting on his high fastball. Cubs were fortunate to win this game, and if they continue making mistakes you don’t even see in little league this team will devolve into the finger-pointing we witnessed today. Season is already over. Cubs should just put together the most salable players they can before their value really drops as it did with Stromer last year. I’m thinking Bellinger, Morel, Steele, Hendricks, Amaya, Wisdom. Just bundle them and call it what it is: a fire sale. This is a disaster.

Steele isn't going anywhere. They can build around him. Morel's trade value is rock bottom now. Hoyer should've packaged him to acquire Clase in the offseason but didn't, 'cause he overvalued him, so he isn't moving or getting optioned, he's shockingly their biggest bat (still) and if the Cubs are truly out of it, he needs AB's. So he isn't moving. Amaya & Wisdom will just be cut at some point, they're bums. Belli & Hendricks will be flipped imo. Neris & Leiter, Jr. are flippable as well. Beyond that, Tallion might be your best piece. He's quietly having a great season, and if it continues they might be able to sell high on him after all.

Kap, Justin Steele did a good job calling out the defense. However, the reality is that Steele was billed as the "Ace". He has zero wins at the 50% mark. Justin, take a look in the mirror.

he has a 3.20 era and missed a month, its clearly not his fault. not fielding the bunt was.....but thats nothing compared to that joke of a rundown and Morel's usual empty-headed fielding.

Come on Kap Neris didn't get the save the umpires did for him with the most atrocious umpiring I ever seen behind the plate. During a game you will get 2 dozen missed calls {AT LEAST} on both sides. Since this stupid clock ballplayers can't even have the decency to yell at umpires or get thrown out. When will these umpires get their eyes examined. Today in that 9th inning it went our way.
