  • In this video I show how to make some mod rings for a blow through Weber carburetor. Also i explain my understanding of how they work. In a future video we will put them to work in an old beetle. If you like this video subscribe and like.

Are what you need to make life easy when blowing through a Weber idf carb. Some people say the they just spent a lot of time playing with jetting and didn't need the turbo emulsion tubes. But I like my life simple and things working as quickly as possible.
    Hope this helps you.

Just getting into helping a guy out with a 2276 and 44 IDF Weber's oh, he had them rebuilt by somebody unfamiliar with the carburetors so I got them in 60 issues with them, they are sealed at the shaft, as for now I'm going to run them without the Rings although I will probably we'll get some, they have the update kits with the spray bars from CB performance with 38 venteries, would you recommend 33 or 36 mm venturies? I might not be able to find either, but I'm able to make them on a 3D printer that I own

Venturi size will depend on more factors than just displacement. What heads and cam are you running? What is the engine going to be used for ( Baja bug, daily driver, weekend street strip car)?
If you have a good head and some cam ( like an Engle 120 or so) I would keep the 38mm vents that came in the CB performance kit. Gene Berg has a new product that is interesting, called groved vents. It's supposed to have better low-end of 32mm and the top end of 36mm vents. I'm not sure they will work with the spray bar conversion tho.

The rule of thumb for mod rings is 3mm smaller than your vent sizing.
      Hope this helps you.

How did the flat plate go? I tried the same and now have a flat spot from 2000 rpm till on boost. Curious to see if you experienced the same

It did what it was supposed to do, it enriched the mixture everywhere. That could be part of your issue is it may have made it to rich in the lower RPMs.

I’m sick of fighting, got a 2332 w/Garrett turbo. The problem is I’m at 6500 ft asl. I have spent 100’s of $$$ on mod rings and jets, I’m running 44 HPMX carbs with f-11 tubes, no mod rings, 50 idle jets, 200 air jets, 150 mains , way rich on my AFR gauge. Mod rings just made it worse, I’m gonna try 47 idle, 210 air, 145 mains and see what happens. He used to take me 15/20 minutes to change jets, Now with the charge pipes in the house it takes me a little over an hour, really getting boring. If I had to do it all over again I would’ve just put a blower on it

Mod rings are to make the mixture richer, so they did what they are supposed to do when you installed them. You say it is already running rich with out mod rings, how rich?? 10.0? 11.0? 12.0? Are you using a wideband 02 ? You should be shooting for 12.0 under boost. The only blower kit for a vw that would fit you size motor is a Dick Landy, and they have been out of production for 10 years or better.
I had a Dick Landy on a 2276 back in 2005, instant boost but no real power, and made a crap load of heat. If you changed you setup it would be best to go draw through and use a four barrel.
Also CB's turbo e tubes would help. They lean out the bottom end and richen the top end. Your jetting combo is close to what people run at sea level. At 6500 ft it's going to be way different. Call Painter's Grinding in Colorado. They can help you jet for that high of an elevation.

@@MattLundquistVW my AFR says 9/10 at idle and on boost 8/9 way rich, trying to get close to 14.7 at idle at my altitude is like changing a quarter to a 100 dollar Bill.

@@TBUCKETMAN you need to make a large jump down on your jetting then. Like 40 idles and 140 mains. The good thing is it they are to small you can drill/ ream them to the right size, saving money by not buying a ton of jets.

@@MattLundquistVW that’s what I did i decided to go 45 idle and 145 mains and left the air @210 wish I could show u a picture, you have to use a 12mm crows foot to get to the carb bolts, being in a bug is a bit$&, I just now got carbs back on, I’m gonna put the charge pipe and hats on and see what happens.

Ok fired it up, AFR is not even reading, 20 + and a lean pop, I am wondering if I just change air jet to 200 not 210, if that will make me richer.
