I can see the neighbors think, glenns finally lost it, he’s walking around in the garden with an unplugged electric guitar and an iPhone hooked up to it.
As a live engineer, i wouldn't use this on stage at a festval, where there's lots of bands and lots of signals going around already from in ear monitors and wireless mics. For our festivals, we use the Shure racks where it scans available frequencies. However, for smaller gigs, hell yeah this would be awesome. Less RF going around.
This operates in 2.4g. Professional wireless operates in 500m. These won’t interfere with the other...BUT WiFi runs in 2.4g, so there’s that to consider before buying these units.
Alexandro WinterSköll It could work, but probably not well. 2.4 ghz is a EXTREMELY busy band. This is especially evident in a festival where WiFi and phones will be present in a heavy amount, which would make dropouts and interference very likely, that’s why you never see actual pros using these kind of units, and instead opt for BodyPack-Rackmount Receiver systems.
Throwing away the instruction manual hits too close to home haha, we never use it in building anything haha. The wireless system seems to play and sound fine.
Can your next product be the SMG- STD (Spectre Transmission Device) World class, crystal clear wireless transmitter, with range and hifi? No tone loss. I have always desired this.
This looks like a worthwhile replacement for when my current wireless finally gives out. I was another victim who dropped his hard earned cash for the Line6 G30 system when it came out and I saw your review on it. I agree with your assessment of that unit. If I wasn't an engineer, I probably wouldn't have the patience to tolerate its fragile nature. It took a fair share of trial and error to keep it intact. Greetings from Calgary, not quite so cold today. I appreciate that you suffer for the art. All ther best to you, your family and SMG for the holidays and into the new year.
I have gigged the g30 for about 6 years now, maybe 7(?) And haven't had the first issue with it. We do 3-4 gigs a month (3-4hrs a night) plus rehearsals. I use it constantly. The receiver is on a pedal board, the transmitter in a pouch on my strap. 🤷♂️ User error? I don't really baby my stuff, but it's plastic....you have to take care of it.
Latency check would've been nice :) Some units touting great transmission strength through all kinds of obstacles often get there by higher buffers, introducing latency.
Wonder how this gizmo would do in my concrete and steel hi-rise apartment, with the guitar at one end of the apartment, and the amp at the other, which is a distance of roughly over 50'. My grandfather would have called you a "veaklingk" for complaining about the cold. Then, he would proceed to tell you about when he was living in Nizhny Novgorod as a boy, having to walk two miles to school in two feet of Russian snow-uphill, both ways-because "de streetcars veren't runningk". That said, I'm with you, Glenn: winter sucks.
Jesus Glenn... plugs it in and instantly gets better tone out of the Revv than I could ever get with multiple amps and hours of tweaking and editing!!! I think I need a Revv.
Hey, Glenn, it is easy to miss in the manual, but the case will actually recharge the transceivers 3 to 4 times before you need to charge the case. You don't need to plug the case in to charge them each time.
I've seen a couple reviews of this, but no one mentions how it works if more than one band member is using it. Nux marketing says the transmitter and receiver automatically pair with each other, no manual channel selection needed. But nothing says how the system works if there are multiple systems on stage. Can lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, and possibly keyboard all use their own for a full gig with breaks? I imagine the units would be turned off and back on again for set breaks to save the battery charge. And with everyone turning the units on at nearly the same time, would there be any paring issues?
I have the original B-2. Can anyone tell me if this newer version has the gating/delay effect if you stop playing for a few seconds? The led on the reciever starts blinking, it goes into like a sleep mode or something and you need to play for a fraction of a second before audio starts coming through again. Really hoping this unit is always on.
Rule nr1 with wireless: if you can use a cable, do it! I know wireless tech has become better all the time but the real test would be a venue full of people with phones, a bunch of wireless mic’s and in ear’s, throw in a WiFi router for the sound guy, some wireless dmx for the lights and then see if it still keeps working. I’ve done a lot of live shows with wireless gear and most of the time I didn’t have that much problems but sometimes it does strange things...
Cool? Where would the transmitter go if using a pedal board & if using a footswitch (cable from FS to AMP) will it pick up my modulations and switching from clean to dirt? Thx.
My LTD active (emg pups) Works great with this, but with volume pot switch completely off it still has (maybe half) the sound coming out. any ideas how to remedy? (doesnt do this when using cable)
I did not knew about the "orange" mode... A week ago a guy with a Tele played with a wireless and it sounded as bright as a Tele ever could... How long does battery last?
Hello all, is it possible to use this with a P2 Behringer as a inear monitor Stereo? I use a wireless Harley Benton Airborne and it works but its mono.
I had the first generation nux. Worked fin at first but after 4 or 5 gigs the transmitter would take forever to charge and then died after a hour. I hope they are better now. The old ones suck fo reliability.
Out of curiosity why would nux put 45 ft range and you were 175 ft with walls to go through just strange is all I mean the further the distant rating the better because that tells you it ain't gonna leave you hanging if you go 46 ft but actually gives you confidence to roam generously about without worry of signal loss. I had this nux setup before seeing this and it makes me want to test mine with nothing being of an interference like walls or obstacles period!
Gordon Latham yeah I’ve been looking to buy it since yesterday but amazon is only holding the older model for Canada rn? Lemme know if you find a link buddy
Pretty cool. Now what if one has a pedal board? Would you need two separate units? And that brings up something that you didn't touch on ... Dose the NUX come in multiple frequencies?
Your pedal board isn't going to be moving around, it doesn't need to be wireless... put the reciever in the first pedal and use a cable from the board to the amp just like you have been...
Hey Glenn! How long are you back in Windsor? If you're back for a while i could let you borrow one of my Marshall's for a video! Got a '76 JMP 100 Watt and 2555X whichever one you'd wanna use haha
Hey could you possibly get ahold of a 1978 Crate CR-1 20 watt amp, I got one and it needs some repair but I want to know what you could do with one. Not a dirty tone, even cranked it doesn’t have much distortion
iDeal yeah I’m looking to buy it as well but amazon only has the previous model. I’m based in Canada so was expecting to be able to buy it, seeing as Stevie T also put up a video of it and he’s based in Canada too. Would love to have this for Christmas
hi nice demo. i would like know how long will it last during a gig. i got a donner wireless . it was cool to to start with but later started dying in the middle of gigs so had to switch to cable. thanks
Much more interesting: will it work in a live situation with many people with smartphones around and other musicians with transmitters, wireless microphones, ect... ? I doubt that.
Off-topic: does Glenn, or anyone for that matter, know of an expander plugin within Reaper? Trying out Glenn's old technique of keying the room mics off of the snare drum, but it doesn't appear thart Reaper has an expander from what I can tell. What are you all using or am I missing something?
I got the Xvive and the amount of hiss and interference was too annoying. How are this ones as far as noise level go? because every test goes into range and signal but just one review talked about noise. Until they don't get that right I'm sticking to a cable.

Idk if I can speak for Canada but here in Wisconsin, if it gets up to 0°C (32°F) this time of year, we are only wearing sweatshirts and we got the grill going lol
That's awesome Glenn! HOWEVER! How does it handle an extended signal chain? I don't use a lot of pedals but I have a few on and sometimes these things don't mix well. HAPPY FUCKIN FESTIVUS!!
But can you plug it into a guitar with a front jack? I was unpleasantly surprised to find that my Xvive transmitter wouldn't fit the jack in my Ibanez S Series without risking damaging the finish. You'd think that would be an obvious design consideration.
Word of knowledge to any of you guitarists with bass player minds: Not all Gibsons have tuning issues. Mine never (unless I store it out in the snow) has problems staying in tune.
I don't even gig, but I'd love to have something like this. I record shit in a tiny ass bedroom, so the fewer cables I have to fuck around with and trip over, the better.
I can see the neighbors think, glenns finally lost it, he’s walking around in the garden with an unplugged electric guitar and an iPhone hooked up to it.
DCT Master lol
Little do they know, he's walking around in the garden with a PLUGGED guitar

"FOR YOU BASS PLAYERS OUT THERE-"
yeah?
"-THIS END GOES IN YOUR AMP"
LOL DAMN IT.
Funny indeed...especially when 35 seconds later (01:50) he fails orally...
How do you get a guitar player to turn down?
Put sheet music in front of them.
yea I heard that.. 🙄
It's the bass players who write the songs.... and they don't all have to be metal.
Throwing away the instruction manual hits too close to home haha, we never use it in building anything haha. The wireless system seems to play and sound fine.
Nice to know some people aren't bass players

I really like the "normal mode" clean, sounds quite close to an EMG clean. What I'm wondering is how long the delay on this thing is.

Hi! Why do this wireless system wouldn't work when gigging? Subscribed! Kind regards!
Interesting...can you charge them without the dock? Seems odd to have a double-headed USB cable when the charging station just needs the one plug.
Yes
Any idea on charge life? Any drop off as the charge fades?
The switch on PRS guitars simulates a long chord . Carlos Santana asked for it when he switched to wireless. Its hard to type and laugh while you scream about the cold . In south GA 39f and flooding .

Damn that was impressive
Would you record with this?
But can you plug it into a guitar with a front jack?
I was unpleasantly surprised to find that my Xvive transmitter wouldn't fit the jack in my Ibanez S Series without risking damaging the finish. You'd think that would be an obvious design consideration.
Gotta maintain that OHIP coverage, eh?
another wireless system? you mean xvive?
Word of knowledge to any of you guitarists with bass player minds: Not all Gibsons have tuning issues. Mine never (unless I store it out in the snow) has problems staying in tune.
Merry Flyingspaghettimonstermas!
I prefer the Boss WL-20 - pretty similar system and works very well \m/
I don't even gig, but I'd love to have something like this. I record shit in a tiny ass bedroom, so the fewer cables I have to fuck around with and trip over, the better.
His disappointed faces in his own clean playing. Love this guy lol
